Proper Process Going from TER 1.2 to a new EC05 ROM?

Ok I've read a ton of threads and all seem to point to the thread that states I need to be on DL18 and then flash to EC05 before throwing on CWM 3.0.0.6. But I already HAVE a 2.2.1 EXT4 system with CWM 3.0.0.5. Is there a way to just update to CWM 3.0.0.6 and throw an EC05 rom on there? Or am I not understanding something? Thanks in advance.

Also, lets say I DO have to go back to DL18, will the google servers forget which apps I had on my system and force me to manually get them all again? In other words, should I make a list of all my files before updating?

Yes, you would lose all your apps and you would have to re-download them so back them up.
BUT, you don't have to go back to DL18 anymore.

Ok, but that's RFS, if I am EXT4, how does that not lose any data?
