^this isn't the first time Samsung owners hoped for a radio update to boost the signal.. I wouldn't hold your breath.

I'm surprised Google chose Samsung again after the Nexus S.

Knew you would persist....PSA, nothing official....this thread is hearsay and without credit. Bummer.

Samsung is so well known for building phones with stronger radios than their competitors.

Google searches for Samsung dropped calls is always barron and unheard of.

/sarcasm.

Again. If anyone has proof of the Galaxy Nexus maintaining a voice connection while a Motorola drops it, I'd love to hear about it.

You need to read this thread, there are a couple of examples. Again, your PSA is invalid. No sarcasm intended, just real truth.

Settle down guys, everyone is entitled to their views and we all need to respect them, but unless each side is willing to show examples of similar comparisons (with the same controls I used) with drastically different differences between the Nexus and different phones then mine one of the few that Aren't hearsay.

The point of my posts isn't the raw numbers I get (those change with different locations and different weather conditions) but rather the difference between different phones in the same place taken at the same time. THAT is where my data is telling.

What do you own?
I have the Motorola Photon and I've never dropped a call. I've had 2 Samsung phones which dropped calls constantly (Nexus S & GS2), when I started hearing reports of the Galaxy Nexus doing the same, I knew it was a Samsung problem.

I'll never buy another Samsung until these type of issues are fixed. If you don't have any connection issues, I congratulate you, as for me, I'll be sticking with more reliable devices for the foreseeable future.

I am a huge fan of Samsung hardware design, if they can fix these issues, I'd be happy to own one again.

Thank you....Nexus is a different beast. Thanks for the insight though, had both those devices and the nexus.....GS2 was my fav, but the nexus never dropped a call, that moto bionic did, what a joke of a phone that moto bionic was. Hearsay rules.:p

that as a poor choice of wording in my part as discussed there is no control group or anythubg if that nature or controlled laboratory conditions but the point is I am using consistent procedires in taking the readings (stock device, same place, similar time of day, multiple times of day to get more than one readng to average, etc.).

I would actually be really interested in seeing someone else with even one or two of these devices taking similar readings next to a stock nexus and see what the difference between those devices and whatever the Nexus is getting is similar to mine (I'm betting that it is).

Don't cut down my french. seriously? No control, fin! Thanks bud:) Your double talk just does not convince me...good luck on an official PSA R/T the Nexus fail.....I just want a valid experiment and control? Am i unreasonable for asking that? Hearsay is way too easy.....

I'm pretty sure he did plenty for a control without having an unnamed device made specifically for testing signal strength. Multiple devices tested in the same spot is as close as he can get imo.

I HAD the Gnex for a little over a month and the phone's signal problems were terrible. The phone was constantly searching for signal and killing my battery. I was getting 4 hours max with minimal use. I also had major issues with the 3G-4G switching. Add in the bad call quality and subpar speaker and you have a mediocre phone at best. I returned the phone to Costco and got a Rezound. The outcome? All the problems I had disappeared.

Samsung has issues with their radios. I previously owned the Charge and it had issues as well.

Quick side note about the GNex at the Costco in my area. The salesperson said it was their most returned phone. Main reasons...bad reception and call quality. Their most purchased phone...the Razr.

Just wanted to jump in and add that we DO have a control here - the towers are a common fixed element.

Mine stays locked in 3G for the battery life and I'll only put it into 4G if I want a little extra speed and a lot of frustration. Most of my audio-visual purchases in the past few years have been exclusively Samsung products; needless to say, I am quite disappointed in the GNex as a consumer-product and would be embarrassed beyond belief if I was them, Google, or Verizon at this point. Too bad there's no lemon-law for cellphones. :p
