You know if one of the lines do not qualify for the upgrade it wouldn't be shipped right? Or maybe they just charge you the full price. Before shipment they have to be approved and activate by Sprint.

Yes, they asked for my sprint PIN, I gave them the wrong one initially and got an email asking for it again. It all has to be verified through Sprint, which I understood before ordering. Both lines have been eligible for upgrade since July 1.

Nice. congrats. Did yo see how best buy lists $699 no contract crossed out, but shows it $599 no contract on the other pages.
Backorder email?
Did anyone preorder from Bestbuy online and then get an email stating it was backordered? If so, is that because it's a pre-order? Or did they exceed the number of pre-orders?

I just want to get my phone by the 31 and not a day later.I just walked into a store last night and preordered 2. They said at this location anyway- the preorders do not seem as crazy as the Evo. They were confident in store reservations would all be fulfilled.
Regardless, I also did the online sprint reservation last week so I'm covered- but I'd rather get it at Best Buy.

I called best buy and they said it would arrive between the normal shipping time and then i received the backorder email.
Did they change the status to backorder because best buy originally said it would ship this week?

I also got the Best Buy back-order email; I ordered online on 8/13, and they are calling the back-order a "delay."
Maybe this is all just a logistical delivery correction from Best Buy because my original confirmation email said delivery was due before the official 8/31 release from Sprint;
"Status: Order in process of being fulfilled. Estimated arrival date: 08/17/2010 - 08/21/2010 "
I thought that was too good to be true because it would arrive before the 31st, the official launch date.
See the back-order email below; I hope this just means I will receive it by the 31st.

it only makes sense that they changed when it would arrive. my delivery date was set to be between the 19 and 24 and now they told me it should arrive within 1 to 2 weeks

Best Buy Pick up Early> k im SO anxious the 31st cant get herr no sooner. I just hope they have it I was told I would get a call the day before to make an appointment to pick up device following day (31st) My question is , are they able to sell the phone BEFORE the 31st? or it against some "law"? Im almost positive they will receive the shipment of devices prior to the 31st release date.... Activation wise I just want them to set it up on the computer I want to go home and play with it I dont even want them to remove the screen cover on the thing I know it sounds harsh but I need to learn this for myself so I rahter do it on my own time Ill sync my own contacts set up etc..just get it actived in computer and ill be on my merry way LOL

I'm sure they will get it early, but I doubt they will sell it early. However, when I pre-ordered the white Evo they called me 3-4 days before the actual launch date, but then again that wasn't a "new" device launch.
I think for a brand new device launch they want to keep they launch date firm for statistics purposes: "We activated ___ units on launch day"... that type of thing. But all we can do is hope

BB will not sell you the phone early (at least they are not suppose to). It isn't against some "law" but it is against their's and/or Sprint's policy to sell it to you before 8/31/10. No doubt BB/RS/WM/Sprint is going to get the phone in stock a few days early as it would be foolish for them to have it delivered on launch day - shipment could potentially get delayed and they would have a lot of upset customers. If they "set it up on the computer" then that means the phone is activated and capable of being used on the network, which again Sprint doesn't want to happen before 8/31 for the general public. When you pickup your device from BB on launch day, BB will activate for you in the store as they are required to do.
