Ok, now I have not received my Incredible yet(preordered on 6/5), and I may just love it so much I want to keep it. That remains to be seen. I think the Droid X and its large screen may fit my particular phone usage better. I use it more for browsing/multimedia, so being closer to a mini-tablet is a definite boon.

My question is if you order a phone online, do you have to mail it in for the 30day return policy, or could you also just take it into a store?

edit: should probably clarify, I am talking about ordering from the verizon site and returning to a verizon store.

From what I heard it might be better to just refuse delievery and then you wont get charged with that BS restocking fee.If your sure thats what you want to do tho.

How can they charge a restocking fee on something thats not stocked? Because if it was stocked there would be no backorders

I'm glad you are gonna go with what you prefer. I myself think the incredible is a perfect size, I have never been a fan of motorola either. Getting to what you asked though, I would call verizon customer service and see if you could just change your order before it ships, that would fix all the problems at once. :)

Yeah that is what I would do. They don't care what device they get your money from so it shouldn't be an issue. And if you aren't 100% positive you will be happy you need to return it, because all you will end up doing is bashing yourself for not getting the X. One thing to keep in mind though, as soon as you order the X something better will be out within a month or so.....so make your mind up quick and stick with it!

Yes,I would be sure to get what you want. I would just call them cancel the order.

This would be the easiest and best option, because if you did the other I suspect they would nail you with the restock fee (the argument earlier int he thread notwithstanding).

Plus it's just the right thing to do.

I dont really mind the restocking fee. Just kind of consider it a rental fee for a few bucks really. If I dont get off my storm 1 soon I may go crazy.

to answer your original question, yes you can return it to a store if you buy it online. As long as its a verizon corp store.

as of today, you can just cancel the order as long as it hasn't shipped yet. this is the first time VZW has allowed something like this. i'd say that, or refuse delivery and no restocking fee, then go get the X....but you might not like the form. the evo and HD2 are the same size, the X is a bit bigger than the HD2 i believe, screens are the same but there's more body around the perimeter of the screen. go hold one of those phones, and if it's too big for you then you won't like the X.
