*Quick* Galaxy s9 or Pixel 3?

I've never had a problem with 64 GB and no expandable storage but I keep pictures and videos on Google Photos.

Always skip the preferred care since I'm pretty careful with my phones. Haven't had any situations where I wished I had insurance. Might be worth it if you have a history of dropping phones or just like the extra protection.

Picking the Pixel phones over Samsung's flagships has always been a pretty easy decision due to the camera, clean software and frequent updates. Also like the squeeze / active edge for launching the assistant, silence calls and snooze alarms.

I had the s7 edge followed by the note 8. Switched to the pixel 3 XL last week... don't understand why this phone doesn't get more hype. Maybe it's just because it's a new experience for me i don't know. But i love this device and all the little things it can do without all the bloat.

p.s. i hated Bixby. and yes, I know you can just turn it off but that didn't work with my physiology. 😂

Both are great devices, if OS 8s not a problem keeping S9 is nothing wrong

I don't know of anyone who will knowing let you add it after it's damaged. Apple does a diagnostic if it's purchased after the sale but it probably doesn't pick up a cracked screen as long as the display works so ultimately you could file a claim. I don't know if Best Buy checks out the phone before adding it. I know Verizon allows 30 days to add the warranty but you have to wait 24 hours to file a claim. The phone normally just has to be able to accept calls during that 24 hours. There is a the question of is it ethical. In any event I don't want to take the thread off topic as the OP is looking for advice on whether to get the phone.

Thanks. I didn't mean to get if topic. They did ask about the protection plan and I was a little surprised how easy the screen broke from a less then waist high fall. I hope it was a fluke.
My nieces iPhone fell in a puddle when it was new so she brought it in and they let her a coverage. That's why I was asking.
The original question needed to have an answer by yesterday so I hope this post is not to off topic.

It's all good.... i know you were being helpful. I was more worried my response and others might derail the thread. Hopefully we all helped the OP with their decision and I hope you solve your dilemma as well.

As a Samsung fan, I'd go with the Pixel 3. Faster updates is the main reason, but I also want a stock Android experience. I'm also a fan of the Pixel 3 design.

I always protect my phones with a decent case and a screen protector. I have not purchased insurance for any device that I have owned in the last 10+ years. Oh and my Pixel 2XL has been dropped a few times. No issues yet.

I did order the Pixel 3. Should be getting it in a couple of days. 64GB version should be fine. The last two devices I purchased were 128GB but always ended up with about 90GB free so this time around I spent less.

I should have mentioned that I currently have a S9, Pixel 2XL and Huawei Mate 10 Pro as well. I will most likely keep the Pixel 3 and sell the other devices.

I've had the s9 when it came out and i currently have the pixel 3xl with pretty much every phone in between. Usually an iPhone user here. That being said -

The pixel 3xl is my favorite android device I have used to far. I love the camera and the feel in the hand. The screen is actually pretty amazing too !!!!

Thanks everyone. I did go ahead and order myself a pixel 3. A little bummed that I won't get it until December 10 time but excited non the less!

You will be able to get many many many Pixel pics of your children at Christmas. How cool is this!

Had a Samsung Galaxy S9 and switched over to the Pixel 3. Couldn't stand all the duplicate and unused apps that you couldn't uninstall or disable on the Samsung phone, and the zillions of settings that appeared in multiple places in the Settings app. I mean, Bixby, come on Samsung. For any given Google app, Samsung will do their own version, and not let you remove it from the phone if you prefer the Google version. The S9 screen was fine, and the phone was fast enough. Got tired of waiting for Android security updates as well.

Love the barebones Android on the Pixel, the screen is great, and regular security updates. The phone feels faster than the S9, and in fact may be a touch faster due to having a lot less software on it. When I got the S9 I was aware of the Samsung excess software problem, but I figured if the Android security updates came out regularly, I'd put up with all the rest. Well, that didn't happen :-).

Anyways, love the Pixel 3, and much prefer it over the Samsung S9.

I "tolerated" the duplicate apps on the Note 9 and as long as I used Samsung's Launcher, I could hide them. And I really love the S-Pen. But bottom line...I do prefer clean Android and the awesome camera so I went back with Pixel.

I still use my Galaxy Watch on my Pixel 3 XL because the health tracking and battery life is unmatched by any WearOS watch currently.

I'm thinking 64 GB is probably good enough since all of the Pixel 3 pics get backed up with Google photos. I bought a 128 GB Pixel 2 and think I could have saved a little money by getting the 64 GB one because I have not come close to using even 64 GB on my 2.

If you want the best camera and true color to life, you should choose Pixel 3, S9 is a good camera too but it is always over-saturated and make your skin stronger in color
