Quick Question about activating Nexus 7

It's been a while since I've activated anything. My last two devices are a Transformer Prime and a Galaxy Nexus (both at launch). I just bought my wife a Nexus 7 for Christmas and I was thinking about going ahead and setting it up for her before I wrapped it. But I can't remember if activating a new device sends an email to her gmail account. Obviously I don't want her to get an email saying thanks for activating your Nexus 7. Does any one know?

PS She's not a tech geek and could care less about being the first to open it or setting it up.

No, it doesn't send any email when you activate it.

Actually it did I activated my nexus a month ago and it did send an email ... Welcome to nexus 7 and it list all specs and intro to play store..

We'll that sucked. I went on B.Diddy's response and activated it. I'm glad I had her email account open and could delete it as soon as it came in. I just hope her notification goes away on her phone before she sees it.
