Radioshack Employee here, taking questions about Pre Order/Buying Process

I went last friday and pre-ordered the phone and I even told him I will be being full price. the guy had no problems with doing this at all.
I probably could've said I'd pay full price and got one, but I want to be sure I only pay the upgrade price. Problem solved by Sprint. I called them to see if they could just change my eligibility date to today so I can go back to Radio Shack and pre-order another phone. They said no problem and I even got a $70 credit off my bill for agreeing to extend my contract one year on one of the phones. I figure that it will be a moot point once I activate the new phone and then my contract gets extended 2 years anyway. Worse case the one phone is locked in for 3 years and I have no plans on switching from Sprint anyway.

Ok so I want to keep my Evo's screen virgin (I'm planning on just playing around with it a few months until the Pre2 comes out, then sell it on Ebay) by putting a screen protector on before anyone touches it. I want to use my 20$ accessory cash to get the protector, my only worry is that they won't have any protectors there when I buy it. I don't want to have to say, "I can't let you do that, Radioshack Employee" and be like, yeah I'll be back whenever you have protectors so I'll activate it then. Is there any guarantee there will be protectors there, and good quality at that? I don't want any cheap one size fits all protectors that you gotta pull out scissors and cut around. I also want high quality stuff that doesn't feel all rubbery and create a glare.

They hav to port my number to sprint. But within all that, is there anyway thy can do it without needing to take out the phone and turn it on unless I want to?

Will I be able to 'sell' at RS when I pickup my EVO and use the money towards the purchase?

Rudementry... Pre2.. I am going to the evo and not look back. Just went to appbrain and went crazy. So many more apps that I can use. Thanks to premier status I can change next year if I am not happy and hp/palm comes out with something that really works AND the developers really embrace the os. Sorry, do not want to hijack another thread with frustrated pre user moving on up..

Good for you. I'm by no means a frustrated Pre user, I'm actually kind've forced to get an Evo. My Pre was stolen last week so, I either get to waste my upgrade and get a Pre for $150 and use it for a few months and pay full price on Pre2 (most expensive), use my Centro for a few months and get Pre2 at upgrade price (no thanks), or get an Evo at upgrade, play with it, then resell it for 400$ish and use the cash to get a full price Pre2. Yes this option is more expensive than waiting it out with my Centro, but at least I get to use a real smartphone for a few months, Besides, I get to test out the first 4g device ever, and also I get to play around with Android. When I go back to Palm I'll be more educated on Android and more equipped to defend Palm.

>My Pre was stolen last week

"The tale is recalled by the chief executive of a dealership that sold Mercedes-Benz in London. His salesmen were lounging around the showroom when a small group of menacing-looking undesirables ambled in. They would like to take the AMG M-Class for an extended road test, they said. As the visitors were packing heat, a nervous salesman handed over the keys. The M-Class was never seen again. The chief executive later admitted, "I console myself with the certainty that, sooner or later, the car broke down." This true anecdote epitomises a major challenge for the car maker with probably the best reputation in the world. Mercedes-Benz's rock-solid image is no longer matched by reality." - Top Gear

Lol that made me chuckle, especially so when I think about all the patches and homebrewing I've done to that phone. 800MHz anyone? The person who stole it is by no means intelligent, my only consolation in them stealing it is that I know that it will not be long before it is bricked by their negligence.

1. When you pre order we will run your credit and get your account setup just to make sure you eligible to get the phone. We will not be putting any phone #'s on the account at this point. When you pick up and activate the phone is when we'll port your number. Just bring a bill in for your current provider and we will take care of the rest.

2. Yes we can add discounts when we set up the account. Make sure you tell the associate about this when you pre order the phone, as this is when the account is set-up. We add the discount even before running credit, so just make sure they know ahead of time.

What would be a reason for someone to be declined? overdue bill, bad credit, score! I do have a overdue bill but that will be taken care of before launch.Im just wondering cause i dont want to get denied and then feel like a idiot. What are the credit requirements?????

So i just checked my credit score and its above 600! will i be eligible to pre-order the phone?? its not like im gonna move to mexico or anything lol.

First off...Thanks for offering to answer some questions! Appreciate any information you can provide.

My 2 year contract is up on my 3G iPhone July 11th, so my question is do I need to end my contract with AT&T prior to June 4th so you can port the number over? or is this something you can do on the spot and then ATT would just bill me for the ETF, which I'm told is only 35 bucks at this point. For me that's cheaper than the nearly 60/mo I'm paying as a 2nd line on my family plan anyhow.

Just curious how this would be handled as I would like to keep my cell number by porting it over to Sprint.

Thanks!

What is Radio Shack's return policy on phones? Is it as easy as Sprint's 30 day guarantee? If say I don't dig Android for some reason, can I return the phone in 30 days w/o any issues?

i have two questions here

1. i'm on sprint at the moment, and my contract has been up for a while. problem is the phone line is under my moms name (i have no credit) can i still get the phone or do you still have to check for credit and what not? or do i have my mom buy it?

2. i want to change my number and get a new one, can i get a custom number?

I will be switching from T-Mobile to Sprint. Quick question:

I will be signing up for the Everything Data Family, with 3 lines. Pre-order (2) EVO 4G, and getting (1) free phone. Do I request the free phone at Radio Shack and see what they have available at the time of pre-order or from Sprint?

I'm confused right now. I went to my local Radioshack and they had absolutley NO CLUE about the EVO. I told them that their own website said I was supposed to be able to pre-order it now.

Cell Phones from RadioShack

They basically said they had no clue and to check back later.

I then called the 1-800 # on the top left corner of that same webpage I linked and the guy that was helping me said that his system said that their weren't pre-orders going out for that phone yet. WTF?

A lot of unanswered questions piling up, ill chip in here.

Was wondering what I need to bring in order to get my corporate discount, I'm only working a part time position. Would my work email work?

Most recent pay stub or current workplace ID

Can you confirm what the retail price will be at radio shack?

$499.99

We will only have universal ones that are out-to-fit. You can order nice ones from invisible shield out of your own pocket right now to have on launch day, and use your credit for a car charger or something.

Sure. The phone doesn't need to be on for the port to go through.

DO NOT cancel your line before you get the new phone. The line must still be active to port your number. When we port it at the time of activation, your ATT line will automatically be canceled.

Same 30 days. Must have box, reciept, and all included accessories.

2. nope.

See what we have in stock, and ask the staff at your locak shack if they can make sure to have one of whichever fre phone you pick out on evo day.

Hi . Being reading AC for a long time now . I am on Sprint and i`ve been waiting to get a good android device for a long time now . Since N1 on Sprint isnt going to happen EVO it is .

Ive never pre-ordered anything so i want to make sure i know everything and have everything covered before i do so .

I have 150$ credit on my line , so its going to be 199$ ( since BB and RS give instant MIR ; would go through Sprint store but i dont feel like waiting weeks for 100$MIR check ). Questions i have are:

-whats RS return policy on this kind of merchandise ( just in case ) .
-who will handle the warranty ( RS or through the Sprint ).
-does RS accept old Sprint phones for any sort of credit ( although , i doubt they do , probably Sprint store only ).
Glad Sprint finally came up with a respectable Android phone . Hero is nice , but just not quite what i was looking for .

1. Answered a few posts up

2. RS will deal with any issues within the first 30 days, after that you must go through sprint. (Unless you buy RS's 2 year service plan when you buy the phone)
