Rakuten

I've written them back twice now without response. I sent them a copy of the delivery email, my trade-in email, and my registration email for Samsung Care. The email I got from them said it could take 45 days to get a response back from Samsung that I indeed purchased the phone. I've never been through this with them before.

Ever hear back from Racket Rakuten? My new name for them?

My returned phone was received yesterday.

I just placed an order with Amazon for the exact same phone, S22U, White, 256gb (for same price as 128gb) but delivery shows between March 28 to May 4. Looking on Samsung's site white and green are expected April 1, black/burgundy later in April. Hoping and of March....

Nothing at all. I called Samsung to see if they could expedite the issue on their end and it was an experience of exasperation. I was transferred to 4 different people and nobody had ever heard of Rakuten so had no idea of what I was talking about. My account still does not reflect cash back. Maybe after they approve my trade-in, they'll respond to Rakuten's inquiry and confirm that indeed, I did buy and keep the phone.

I'm happy for you that you placed another order. I'm fully enjoying using the phone.

Good luck, that was one of my many problems with Rakuten and Samsung. Rakuten lied, and the Samsung personnel had no idea what I was talking about or after placing me on hold; would come back on and say they don't deal with Rakuten. However, someone at Samsung must have dealings with Rakuten.

I still have not fired off that letter to Samsung; feel it will be of little value and hate wasting my time. Might still write it and send; might not.

But I sure hope you get your problems sorted out.

Calling Samsung customer care would be useless, that won't have any idea about Rakuten or how they deal with them. Your best bet is to wait or keep pushing Rakuten to honor the cashback. Samsung isn't the one saying they'll give cashback so calling Samsung won't help much. Even mine is pending with Rakuten, like many of you waiting. I'll follow up sometime next month and say it's more than 45 days now (timeline given by them) and to honor the cashback. If not I'll probably not use Rakuten again.

Completely agree with this and I've never once had rakuten not honor it at the end of the day.. as long as you have your proof.. obviously you will since your order is completed

I will say the refund process was decent.

Return phone was:
Shipped FedEx March 1st, from Driggs Idaho,
Received March 4th Coppell, TX
Refund issued March 8th.
Samsung says up to five working days is normal. This was a bit faster.

Just talked to Amazon customer service, my delivery date is Saturday March 19.

Rakuten emailed today that Samsung wasn't able to confirm but as a courtesy they credited my account with cashback.

Glad to hear they treat some people decently.

They sure made it known they were not going to give me a penny; thus, I made sure they didn't make a penny off my sale by returning the phone to Samsung.

So basically, since Rakuten was going to screw me, I received a better deal from Amazon. S22U 256gb at the same price as the 128gb (same as with Samsung) and since I used my Amazon Prime visa, I got a 5% reward on the the purchase; $60.00. That's $60 more than I was ever going to received from Racket Rakuten.

And Amazon even upped my delivery date from Saturday to Thursday and it has already left their Seattle warehouse; headed this way.

Rakuten is weird. Two years ago I had to fight to get my cash-back for the phone purchased from Samsung - eventually they relented and gave me the money. This time, they credited $125 (10%) almost immediately and without any issue for my Samsung purchase. The only difference is the first phone was purchased through Samsung Credit and the second phone was purchased through AT&T upgrade (but from Samsung.com).

I got this today from Rakuten:

Checking in again to let you know we are still awaiting word on the inquiry we submitted for your order.
As soon as we receive any word from we will be sure to let you know. Thank you!

At least they updated me.

Hope you get what they owe you. For me, Rakuten is a bad experience. We all have them and are happy when they are history. Happy to be setting the new one up today.

I wrote them again this morning, stating that it been over 45 days and I've yet to receive confirmation of cash back. I mentioned that I was active here and had started a thread on the issue. Within an hour I got this:

Unfortunately, Samsung has been unable to verify this purchase as being eligible for Rakuten credit. This means Rakuten has earned no credit for this purchase.

However, as a courtesy we have updated your account with Cash Back for this order.

There are many ways this can happen. Here are a few examples:

· If you used a coupon or promo code that is not found on Rakuten but found on another site, that site will be credited for that order.
· If you visit any other site during your shopping trip (especially other sites that offer rewards, coupons, or discounts), that site will be credited for that order.
· If you have a toolbar, plug-in, add-on, etc. installed on your browser (especially for other sites that offer rewards, coupons, or discounts), that site will be credited for that order.

I'm pleased that they made good on it.

Congrats on getting it resolved ...

As much of a pain in the butt waiting with them, I've never not had them give me the rebate I was supposed to get. It's just whether or not you want to deal with that, which I didn't last time. It is clear to me that their extension does not work properly sometimes and purchases don't register, but they've always made good with me.
