Random Reboots and Bad Data Service?

Can anyone help me? I've had the Rezound for about 6 months and I've loved it, besides a few signal issues here and there its been perfect.....until now! For some reason after the update it starts random rebooting constantly. I think I've narrowed it down to 2 things. 1)GPS, for some reason every time an app requests for GPS it reboots or 2)Battery isn't giving enough power, its a weird reboot. It doesn't go through the normal Android is Shutting Down notification, it just quits and pops up the Beats logo like it normally would when starting. I'm also having really bad data service, in settings the data shows the radio as "turning on" but it sticks there until I reboot.

Also, this is my second Rezound from HTC in the past 3 days. I called Asurion the first time trying to get it replaced but they said since it was signal related they were going to transfer me to a Verizon Rep and the replacement was sent from Verizon, not Asurion. Both devices are having the problems! I'm thinking of just going to the store tomorrow and sitting down with a sales rep because it seems all my HTC devices have broke! Including 4 Thunderbolts and now 2 Rezounds! But has anyone else experienced these problems and have a fix? or would the best fix be getting Verizon to give me an S3? lol

The most recent update to google maps is making this same reboot problem happen to all of us. I just uninstalled my update and maps is working fine. The most recent maps update is version 6.10.0

I tried that and its still doing reboots when Facebook tries to use GPS or when Internet tries to use the GPS. I've just turned GPS off for now and its definitely helping but I am still getting a reboot about once an hour for no reason.

I just activated my 3rd rezound last night. Today I called vzw and there is a 4th rezound on its way. I tried to get either the razer maxx or the gs3 but they wouldnt go for it. They quickly offered the Nexus and then the regular razer. In the end I told them to send another rezound. And a new sim card.

Mine doing same thing, going to white screen then beats screen then back up. My 4g is non existent. Drops every few minutes.

Will have my 4th Rezound Tuesday.

I'm tired of dealing with the stupid idiots on the phone who tell me to do factory resets ( they made me do 5 of them on my first Rezound) and I'm just going in person tomorrow. I'm hoping to get something else because Im tired of HTC and their crap. I've burned through 4 Thunderbolts and 2 Rezounds in the past 4 months, each one ended up being warrantied. I'm just gonna tell them plain out if they try to give me a Galaxy Nexus that I don't want to give up any features that my Rezound has, which a GNexus is a lower power processer and a horrible camera... Samsung Galaxy S3 please!

Oh and zrxoa1 have you narrowed down any one thing that seems to start the reboots? Im thinking GPS but not sure because I don't know if somehow Google Maps is starting in the background or what.

The maps app is definitely causing reboots. I will try undoing the update and see if that helps.

Uninstalled the maps update and no problems. Reinstalled and phone reboots. Did this several times, got same result each time!

Ok. So you uninstalled google maps right? Do not update the newer version. That should help with the reboots. Mine has not rebooted since.

And good luck going into the store. Their useless. You will have much better luck and bargaining chances over the phone. Also, in the future, if you have to have a phone sent out, make sure they send it out overnight and they pay for it. I'm on my third rezound plus they also sent me the wrong phone once. Annoying as hell! They will try to tell you that you get free two day shipping......yeah great. However, I want my phone and always insist they send it overnight at their expense :)

I had the exat opposite with the shipping, they told me it would be close to $20 charged to my account for overnight shipping and I said no way! I can wait. They estimated it to arrive on Tuesday but I got it on Saturday (possibly Friday, I wasn't home that afternoon and didn't look outside the front door).

Also, if they suggest giving me a Razr or GNexus should I take it? I mean its definitely lower specs with a lot lower camera but at least it would work!

Yeah, my last two replacements were sent normal USPS, but yesterday they sent number 4 out Fed Ex overnight AT THEIR EXPENSE. I did not even ask, they just did it.

Razor or Nexus? Both good phones. I turned down the Nexus due to its weaker radio. If this next rezound doesn't work right, I am going to be armed. I will compare phones based on COST. The 32gb gs3, the razor maxx, the rezound all sell for $649 retail. They are going to compare on that versus phone hardware.

Problem is they don't base it off of retail value, they just care about how much a refurb or CLN replacement cost them. So to them, the Nexus is the cheapest followed by the Razr Maxx and then the SGS3 (Asking for a 32GB seems a little optimistic, just get the 16 and buy a 32GB SD card for cheap online).

And oddly enough as I'm getting ready to goto the Verizon store, my phone starts working flawlessly! I'm taking the battery out because it seems to do it all the time after doing a cold boot and I took screenshots of the phone last night when it wasn't wanting to work. Ugh, all I want is an S3!

That is why I would ask to speak to a supervisor, then ask that supervisor if he or she bought something for $649 and it did not work correctly, how would they feel if the store tried to replace it with a cheaper item? Don't think so! Also, the memory is not the same. The rezound comes with nearly 32gb from the box. Only the razor maxx and bigger gs3 matches it in memory and retail cost.

I can't really say that because I bought the Thunderbolt the day it was released and then after 3 replacement devices Asurion sent a brand new Rezound which is now having problems. But I think I have more than gotten my $300 back that I had paid for my Thunderbolt almost 2 years ago. But I can't upgrade until November and if I upgrade I lose the unlimited data and I would never survive on a metered plan (I've used 11 GB this month and I haven't had my phone for almost 2 weeks!)

Ok, went to the store today and talked to a really knowledgable assistant. He opened up Navigation and Facebook and as soon as they asked for GPS, the phone shut down right in his hands! +1 lol He factory reset it and said to call tech support or come back to the store if it happened again. Needless to say as soon as I got home it was experiencing the same problems so I called tech support. After waiting for an hour on hold the Verizon system hung up on me and I had to call back. This time I was immediately transferred to a tech support person who said that since I went to the store and the sales rep wrote a note on my account saying what he experienced and what he did, the Tech support guy said it was worthy of a replacement. He said I could get the Rezound or a Razr (not the Maxx). I was immediately shocked and asked what else was available. He said since any newer phone like the GNexus or S3 did not qualify as a replacement. After being on hold for hours and dealing with 2 Rezounds, I finally gave in and agreed to the Razr (he didn't say which model, 16GB or 32GB). Even if the Razr has lower specs at least it will work and not do force reboots, and drop signal.

Have tried to make sure in settings, mobile network to turn it to lte, cdma auto for the reboots ?

I had bad data service for almost two months on the Bolt which I had never had issues before. I had two replacements within 2 weeks and they gave me a certified Rezound. I only had internet issues in my home area and working everywhere else. But prior there were NO issues and couldn't understand why suddenly was having problems.
I have had my Rezound about a month now and have loved it. Today I needed to use the voice navigation for the first time and to inform you, the day I got my phone, the ICS update was sent out. So I did not have any prior use on the Rezound. It rebooted 4 times while on the navigation. I called Verizon and said it was an issue in the app and to uninstall the latest update. I gave it a try on my way home to try it out and it was flawless. So it is working ok now. I just hope google gets it working right with ICS. I do like the new voice, not so robotic.

Ok, I got my Razr a few days ago and I must say it's interesting. It has its good and bad but whats winning me over is the ability to use FoxFi! When I first got my phone I was amazed at how thin it was and how well built it is. Then I turned it on for the first time and was blown away at how AMOLED looks, the blacks are so black that the screen look off and the colors are so crisp. But I must say I am not a fan of the pentile matrix. It makes things look boxy and unappealing but in every day use its hardly noticeable. However, the first night I had my phone I noticed something peculiar, under the screen there appeared to be what looked like black ink. It wasn't just in one spot but blotched all over the display. It isn't that noticeable in a bright area or when the screen brightness is all the way up but when watching a movie at night it just screams and annoys me (I'm a little OCD, I like my things to look perfect). lol And apparently after reading online, its not a good idea to send it back for a replacement because I'm likely to get one that has it worse (online it seems every Droid Razr and lots of Droid Razr Maxx have them). Also when on low brightness, the display has a greenish tinge but its easily fixable (brighten the display)

Battery life is on par with the Rezound and with smart actions I have the ability to be able to extend that even further. Currently, I have a rule set that turns the cellular data off when phone idles with the screen off. Its quite amazing how they fit the entire Rezound worth of hardware (and even more) into that tiny profile (and even made it water resistant ) P.S. I always use 4G LTE, I can't stand using Verizon's 3G because I'm basically addicted to the speeds of LTE!

All in all, this device is nice with great build quality and an amazing form factor but the display is kinda a turn off and the battery is definitely gonna need charged 1-2 times a day. I'm glad I got this phone for free as a CLN and didn't pay for it, otherwise I would of gotten the Maxx edition.

I received my replacement phone on Friday. My phone has been rebooting when trying to use Google navigation. I am also having data issues and bluetooth connection issues. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't.

Uninstall Updates Maps and make sure automatic update is turned off on the app's Play Store page. This is a known issue with the current version of Maps.

Did you do a factory default after your phone got the ICS update?
