Randomly Shutting itself off

I am also having random reboots. Running stock no unlocked bootloader or root. Unlocked version purchased from google play store on tmo network

Right. Happening across vendors, across carriers. Everyone should stop reporting where they bought their phone or what their carrier is. IT'S IRRELEVANT. The problem is with Google's phone or Google's software.

I am getting this too. Also happened in the middle of a phone call for me while on speaker phone. Phone was sitting on my desk face up, screen off. Then call just went dead. Tried to turn the screen on to see WTF happened and discovered it had powered itself off.

I also get it a couple times when the phone rings in my pocket, the screen doesnt' light up and when I try to wake it up it, it shuts off.

Have you posted to my Google Product forums thread? Posting here has no value. Post there immediately please.

The only reason I reported this is because I have been in another thread where people said it was only happening on ATT phones or sprint devices. Just want everyone to know its not limited to those subsets of devices.

I chalked my reboots up to unintentionally holding the phone by the power button. It hasn't happened again since the first week.

That's you. There are random reboots, your attempts at minimizing the issue notwithstanding.

With all due respect, without some of us stating that we had no reboot problem, those with the problem would believe that everyone had the problem.

I've been lucky so far, no reboots. Only issue is the SMS thing.
When I first started using Google Messenger (also the day I got my N6) I wasn't receiving any text messages. I went to settings in Google Messenger and there was an option to coordinate my phone number with Messenger. I haven't had a problem since.

I just checked my "Up time" in about phone because people are saying it may be doing it randomly while your not aware of it and my phone has been "Up" for 326 hours and 33 minutes.... 13.5 days straight so I am not having the issue at all.. But the squeaky wheel gets the grease (and so it should) but I do think it's an isolated issue and not affecting a large % of devices... Just sucks if you got one that's doing it...

Wrong. No one would believe that. There is no justifiable reason for you to continue minimizing the issue.

For umpteenth time, UP TIME DOES NOT RESET WHEN THE RANDOM REBOOTS HAPPEN. Understood?

Okay.. FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME! my phone has never not once randomly rebooted..

You have a bad device.. Stop making it out like it's some major issue affecting the mass majority of phones..

I would have taken my receipt and requested an exchange instead of continuing to argue with anyone and everyone who doesn't have your exact issue!

I have a theory as to why it happens, although its untested at the moment, ambient display is a new feature for android, and that means its gonna come with bugs, along with 5.0 itself, but my theory is this, ambient display somehow gets stuck, and freezes, therefore keeping the display off and forcing the phone to reboot or user to reboot it.

Piked my phone up off my desk today and no response from the power button. Hold it down, phone boots up. Another random shutdown with 93%. After it boots up it gives me the "optimizing applications 1/2" then its on. Only happens about once ever 2 weeks for me. But it happens.

I'm sorry you're so confused.

Doubt it.

Well hopefully they get this figured out and soon, but nexus users always have been beta testers so thank you guys since I am still on the fence, hopefully it is just software and not something more.
