Razr Maxx - Battery Life

You still think Juice Defender should be used? I thought it wasn't needed???

Ok, I used to be quite the defender of this phone's battery life- my battery life USED to be great on this phone, and now it's just "ehhh, ok, better than average but not that of a battery with nearly double the capacity of your average new phone"..

Here's what I have on my battery screen on my phone that was taken off charger at 6am and used sparingly today:

50% - Discharging
10hr 11m, 53s on Battery

Screen 61%
Android OS 11%
Phone idle 7%
Cell standby 4%
Voice calls 4%
Browser 4%
Wifi 3%
Google Services 2%
Android System 2%

It just strikes me as odd because I may have used my phone for maybe 45 minutes or so, and none if it involved anything but web browsing and maybe 5 minutes of e-mail reading. The rest of the time, my phone's been in my pocket.

At this rate, technically yes, I will be good til around 10 or 11pm if I use the phone just as I did earlier.. However, when I get off work, I tend to use my phone constantly for almost an hour and a half, using a media player to play locally stored music on my way home from work., reading e-mails, playing games, applying app updates, and such.. So I'm guessing that by an hour or two after I get home from work, my phone will be at around 35% battery left, which is kinda scary if I wanted to stay out late tonight. If that were the case, I'm sure my phone would be powering itself off by midnight- something I wouldn't have expected for a moderate-use day and this phone.

Might be time to do a factory reset and cache reset and hopefully fix this a little.

I didn't read through this whole thread so apologies if it's already been said, but I've found that Google Now is a significant battery drain. I recently rooted and flashed the Arctic HD rom (thanks Braden:thumbup:) and immediately noticed much worse battery life. I played around with it for a few days and finally noticed Google Now cards starting to pop up. I did some research on Google Now and found that many people were complaining about the battery drain. I just disabled it yesterday and the battery on my Maxx is better now than it was before I rooted.

Protip brought to you by Dubfish.

My battery isn't always consistent. Some times I can get to almost 24 hours but I average about 14-16 hours with about 4-5 hours with screen on, about 2 hours of that is Netflix.

every day will be different. even if you have a routine. signal can be affected by many different variables, not to mention weather. also temperature will affect battery life and performance as well. ;)

Many comments have mentioned smart actions at night; is there a downside to just turning the phone off? I'm guessing there must be because that would seem to be the easy way to save battery?

I would turn off at night but I use my phone as one of my many alarm clocks. The one and only thing I miss from my BlackBerry was being able to schedule to have it turn itself on and off (well that and the keyboard, I don't think I will ever like touchscreen).

Stick it on airplane mode. It goes down just 2% in 7hrs

System panel is a good app in the play store to monitor what is using resources. i also have it monitoring to help snuff out hoggish apps.

Is there an app that i can use to turn on and off background syncing? Also,, is anyone familiar with ZDbox? Ive been playing around with ZDbox, GSam Battery Mon Pro, Juice Defender and Go Battery. Does anyone else have Good/Bad experience using these?
Thanks All

Power Toggles is a great and versatile app. You can place and modify a toggle bar on the homescreen or in the notification pulldown, and one of those toggles is Data Sync. Very responsive dev, and it continues to be free, with no ads.

Juice defender to me is one of the best. I different care for ZD box. Give juice defender plus a try. Pair it with SD Maid Pro and I think you will be quite impressed.

I seem to be having a problem with my battery stats. Once I pull it off the charger, it will drain about 10% and then just flatline, no matter how long it is off the charger or how heavy I use it. Anyone else experiencing anything like this?

I had that problem when going from an ICS rom to an AOKP rom last week. Had to charge to 100%, then leave on the charger for another hour. Then go into recovery and reset my battery stats. Give that a shot, worked for me.
