It allows for much larger files as well other features that SMS/MMS doesn't provide.

The biggest down side is the lack of end-to-end encryption.

I tested it out with my Note 10 (ATT) and Note 9 (T-Mobile) and indeed it does work as advertised. But I'm the only person that I know that has it. LOL - then I reverted back to another app. Hopefully all the other text messaging apps start to update their apps to support RCS and at least use the google RCS servers. Then not everyone will have to use the same Messages app. Samsung also has to open their messaging app up for people who use that as default.

I just use Facebook messenger app. Then I dont have to mess with anything else. It does RCS well by default.

I'm pretty sure that is not RCS but rather just using Facebook's messenger service.

I reverted back to Samsung Messages as my default messaging app. It just works well with the do not disturb setting and allows exception texts from my favorite contacts.

I will wait for Samsung to offer the RCS features. I swear they had them before.

It's the carrier not Samsung... I have sprint and Samsung messages works perfect with rcs the past 3 years... Probably once the carrier app goes live they will update every phone with rcs then Samsung messages on all networks should work

Samsung Messages is RCS capable, it relies on the carriers though.

That's me. Sprint, Note 9 factory unlocked, it's turned on but I have no one to share it with so...other than wifi texting, there isn't any other difference for me.

Same situation for me!

Most of my family and friends have iPhones, so as you mentioned, with the exception of the WiFi texting, I am not getting much benefit either.

Imessage is one of the best things about iPhone . Why help the competition .

Honestly Google could've NO should've done this years ago .
For sharing lots of pics or videos of the kids I just use what's app . It just works plain and simple . And supposedly it's end to end encrypted if you care about that sort of thing.

My Verizon note 10 finally got it to stick today. I changed back to Samsung messages for edge lighting when the screen is off. For some reason Google messages can't trigger that.

RCS? No, you have to install Android Messages. Then go into settings and turn on chat. If it doesn't turn on, be patient, Google is rolling it out in batches and will complete the roll out by the end of the year.

So is this worth ditching Verizon's Message+ ? I don't send video straight through SMS; I use a Google Photos link or send it through something like Facebook Messenger. And I think Messages+ is actually a really good platform for texting.

But I'd like RCS. Wish carriers would just get onboard ASAP.

I'm not sure. There is a lot of functionality that Verizon Message+ has that Android Messages is missing. Verizon Message+ is partially RCS compliant.

The big 4 are rolling out RCS next year if you believe them. I tend to think they will follow through on their word.

I agree Verizon Message+ is a very feature rich messenger, especially when you compair it to Google Messages. I did the switch to Google Messages because of RCS but that's definitely a personal choice. I believe all the messages apps will be RCS capable before the end of next year.
