Read first post then post battery results

I've done just about everything. I've lowered the brightness to 25%, I've tried bump charging, unsynced everything, turned background data off, turned 4G off, no friend stream, the blockbuster fix, juice defender, turned off vibrate when i text. You name it, I've probably done it. Yet I still can't get my battery to last past 3-4hrs of actual use, it doesn't make sense to me.

I love this phone, but its annoying that I can barely use it without it dying. Most of my daily use is sending some texts, checking e-mail, TweetDeck, Facebook, playing some Words with Friends, and some Angry Birds. I think since I've had this phone I may have talked on it for a total of 25-30 minutes. So its not like I'm constantly streaming video or music, I just don't know what else I can do.

Nothing can be done i guess? IM going to try wifi vs 3g in about a hr when its done charging for the 2nd time today lol

I really think its a defect in the phone not the battery or anything where doing. This is what happin when they rush products out

Thanks for the people that helped out

from full charge over night, unplugged then rebooted:

up 7 hours
awake 3.5 hours
26% battery remaining
consumption levels:
display 80%
android system 5%
opera mobile 5%
cell standby 4%
phone idle 2%
folder organizer 2%
htc launcher 2%

standalone GPS/google location services on all day
wi-fi on about an hour and a half of use and off otherwise
auto sync about 5 things every hour-4 hours
backlight running auto most of the time and 30% when in low lit areas
galaxy live wallpaper
only 3 of 7 pages used
htc clock/weather widget, 2x4 favorite contacts widget, 4x1s of go chat, google search, pandora, and power control plus
system monitor used regularly to clear apps/games after use and to see what's what

I used this phone like a power user would and used all of my free time to do what I want to do without a thought
of the battery. I'll say it performed as you'd expect a 1400mAh battery to perform. About 4 hours of up.
That's good for how much screen and hardware is at your fingertips. I truly believe the battery complaints
are born from self fulfilling prophecies and pre release rumors and bashing the phone for such is unwarranted.
If 4 hours a day of use is unsatisfactory then get an nv3, that should last you a few days of use. If you want
to take videos, play games, browse, and social network on a mobile device you're going to have to live with 4
hours of unplugged use a day or spend another 50 bucks to put a gigantic turtle shell on your phone.

I would estimate the battery drains about 50% slower on wifi compared to 3g.

I've yet to do this test myself but I am here soon once I get a green light.

Not to start trouble but the droid 2, and x and iphone 4 does the same as this phone and last way longer!!! My 4g is off so the phone are the same

im a hr into the test and im at 85% so it is looking to be a little better but will see...

But if i want to use wifi all day ill get a ipad or ipod we they are lol

The iPhone and D2 naturally last longer because they aren't running a 4.3" lcd which is where 4/5 of the battery is going. I personally love the huge screen. Does the DX get 4 hours of actual use per charge? Standby time means nothing unless ra horrific and that issue can he solved on any smartphone given a smidgen of homework. I'm certain my thunderbolt could last t days if I didn't use it. I doubt I'd actually ever use it 4 hours a day. I have school and work most of the time.

yes droid x last way longer upper 6-8hrs of awake time the one i had for a week anyways

what do you exppect out of these phones? They are mini computers

laptops with 6 cell batteries only last 4-5 hours with moderate use

did your blackberries spoil you? this is the way it is unless they create better batteries.

my battery life is outstanding considering the size and power of this SMARTphone.

Regards,

Better battery technology and more efficient components. More efficient components come out all the time according to Moore's law. Dual cores (with proper software) are more efficient and so is amoled compared to lcd.

I posted in one of his other threads but the main reason why people are getting different "awake times" is because when talking on the phone (and holding it to your head) the screen turns off. This still counts as "awake time" but the biggest user of the battery, the screen, is not on. So people that talk on their phone a lot (imagine that) will get much higher "awake times". There are a few other programs that can inadvertently keep your phone awake while the screen is off which could also give higher awake times.

The main point: if your screen is on, even at low brightness, the phone will not last more than 2-3 hours or so on stock battery.

Regards,

i came from a omnia 2 windows phone it sucked but lasted 3 days hehe also has a bigger battery then the tb that dont make sense...

I expect to get what they told me 6.3hrs

Well really dual core shouldn't have used less power, just that nvidia is the one that made it, so obviously as far as power use goes its going to be awesome.

That makes no sense. Dual cores theoretically use less energy by virtue of parallel processing. NVIDIA might make good hardware but if Android doesn't effectively split up tasks into two streams it will be the worst battery killer in phone history. Also 2.2 doesn't truly support dual cores. I'm not quite sure why people jumped on the matrix before 2.3.

my amd 6 core custom computer running at 3.8ghz x 6 using the same amount of power as a dell gx280 single core 2.8 ghz so dual core might help?

Only time will tell

You're still ignoring that the 6.3 hours is talk time (screen off), not general use time with the screen on all 6.3 hours.

it says usage not talk time

usage is use

copy from site below

Battery
Usage: 378 mins OR
Standby: 330 hours

if it said talk time fine but it says usage

Ok I just got home and have 10% Battery Left. Here is some data

13h 17m 34s since unplugged

Awake time: 09:32:02

Voice Calls 38% = 27m 8s of Talk Time
Display 28%
Cell Standby 12%
Phone Idle 11%
Wi-Fi 6%
Android System = 3%
Internet = 2%
Android OS = 2%

Here's what settings and tweaks I've done:

Display at 26%
WiFi ON
4G ON
Friend Stream, HTC Widgets OFF
VZW Location Services OFF
Blockbuster Updates Turned OFF
Auto-sync 2 email accounts
Auto-sync Weather ever hour

I think this is pretty good, but I'm not sure. I'd love some feedback, and any further sugestion to improve battery life. Anyway to get the Voice Call percentage down?

This forum is awesome btw, and I've learned so much about Android

Thanks!
