Indeed, the display was only on for 38m. That 9 hours is awake time. The up time is not accurate.

Anything to squeeze the battery even further?

Using WiFi majority of the time. 3G/4G during my 20 minute commute to and from work. Unplugged from charger just before I step out my door for work and restart the phone. I've been trying to keep track of this too. Trying to decide if I should purchase the 1600 Seidio battery and keep the sleek looks of the phone or just bite the bullet and get the Verizon honking extended one. Don't like the big hump but I need this phone to stay up. Looks like I might be able to do with the slim extended Seidio!

Do you have a oem battery or the 2750 because those numbers are what a 2750 will give you.

4hrs oem

4.5 1600

7.8 2750

those are screen on awake times

Well I'm not sure of that. Yeah I only had the display on for 38 minutes.. But the display is off during long phone calls.

I think this is the problem. 4G Phone calls, eat up battery. I might considering switching to 3G.

you only did 27 min of talk time thou that wouldnt take off much maybe 10 %

I am at 3 hours ten minutes awake time with 47% battery. Six uptime hours since restart. 40 minutes of pandora. 3.5hrs on 3g. 2.5hrs on wifi. Did a bunch of speed tests on 3g. Two short voice calls. Lots of tapatalk. Gotta sleep now!
4g radio not disabled btw. But there's no 4g around here.

All test below where done with all push and update off locations off, everything off. With screen on the lowest setting looking a web a little but mainly just leaving the screen on like i did for all the other test i got

Phone settings Time on display with 20% left

Lte Only Mode 2hrs 36min

Cmda Only with prl I got 3hrs 49min

Wifi on 4hrs 3min

Wifi on but with mobile network off 5hrs 31min (you can still call and txt with this and wifi will be internet)

I stopped the test when the battery was at 20% So yeah you could add a little more to each test but not much...

Im going to do 1 last test tonight and that will be talk time. debating how i should have phone setup while doing that test... 4g 3g talk radio only on???

it says usage not talk time

usage is use

copy from site below

Battery
Usage: 378 mins OR
Standby: 330 hours

if it said talk time fine but it says usage

I see Verizon's website says that but you're still assuming "usage" means anything you want it to mean. If someone said you get 10 hours "usage" out of a iPad that doesn't necessarily mean with screen brightness all the way up, while streaming something over 3G the entire time. It is for a specific set of conditions.

I see HTC ThunderBolt specs - Phone Arena says "talk time". Best Buy's website says "talk time". Wirefly also says "talk time"

I suppose I'll agree that to please people like you, Verizon should also change theirs from "usage" to "talk time" as everyone else has done.

Ok best battery life by far for me so far today.

Up time: 5hrs
Awake time 2hrs
Battery life: 93%

I am using WiFi, but its still awesome that it has this much battery left. I think I finally had enough time to do a full bump charge this morning and that helped. My phone was at 100% for 2 hours after I took it off the charger this morning. I also get rid of the Sense UI on the front screen (the clock and weather), not sure if that has been the reason, but I guess it didn't hurt.

ok guys. I've had the phone for a week and done about 7 charges. I did a modified bump charge today. I think when the phone hangs on boot it kills 3% of the battery but its not reflect it in the battery for about .5 hours. I am subtracting 45 minutes from my times since I charged my phone with it on till green, then turned it off and charged it again till green. then after I turned it back on I charged it till green again (45min).

Up time: 22:00:10
Awake time: 5:35:48
Battery life 48%

I use a combo of the battery saving techniques. I use wifi where available, gps is off unless needed and my brightness is at about 10%. I also am using CDMA auto PRL. for usage I had 1 phone call (10 minutes), touchdown running all day syncing every minute, downloaded 1 app, streamed 1:30 hours off grooveshark music over 3G, web browsing for 20minutes over wifi, and 3.5 hours of music playing through the external speaker. I did have my phone on, but with mobile data off for 1 hour (church). Also I used widget locker the entire time I was streaming music over 3G. my phone display was off for most of the music playing.

I think once the battery is conditioned you get decent battery life. Thoughts?

Oh and after charging the third time (45min) after boot. phone stayed at 100% for 1.5 hours (standby).

Save your money, don't buy the Seidio, it's not worth it. It's actually rated at LESS than the OEM battery!

How long was your screen on?

all you people getting more then 2-4hrs is because your screen is off!!!

Why buy a mini laptop if you cant use it and have to keep the screen off...

if you disagree just go look at how long your screen was on for after your battery is almost dead then report back

Nah, it's wifi mostly. I can do tapatalk for long periods of time on wifi and barely see any battery hit.

I have now taken my new Thunderbolt out for a spin and obviously I will make some heavy tweaking. I am using CurrentWidget and it uses 38 mAh in standby mode - later it has jumped up to approx 100 mAh but that was on the subway when it was searching for network.

This is with 4G on. I have a HD2 and normal power consumption for that device is approx 2-10 mAh in standby so the Thunderbolt is obviously in need for heavy battery tweaking. I have disabled the Blockbuster updating.

38 mAh is something that I will try to reduce to approx 5 mAh. First a new ROM will be flashed and then I will do the same battery savings as I have on my HD2 FroYo (Desire Z build):

1. Update news, weather etc every 6 hour or manually.
2. GreenPower: day profile 1 minute data connection/30 minutes, night profile 1 minute/1 hour. This is with screen off.
3. SetCPU (perhaps) - 384 Mhz screen off.
4. Sense replaced with LauncherPro, Sense lockscreen disabled.
5. BloatFreezer: freeze the Sense process and some other HTC processes that's running in the background despite usage of LauncherPro.
6. DroidWall: disable all unnecessary connections on mobile network. I'm only keeping connectivity for the applications I want such as news feeds, browser, mail et al.

This is the battery saving measures I am using on the HD2 and it's working great. So the Thunderbolt will receive the same treatment. I recommend others to try.

My numbers:

Display 31%
Cell standby 16%
phone idle 14%
mediaserver 14%
voice calls 6%
touchdown 6%
android system 5%
wi-fi 4%
grooveshark 2%
Android OS 2%

Up time 23:28:45 (include 45min charge)
Awake time 6:50:57
battery: 45%

And yes I know my display has been off. Before this I had an iPhone 3GS. with that phone and the display on all the time in testing I get 6 hours of battery life. and it has a smaller screen 3.5". I want to know what you are expecting from smartphones. I don't think I have ever heard of a smartphone (3G and display on constantly) that gets more than 8 hours of life. I am perfectly happy with not having the display always on.

if you want bettery battery life get the extended battery and deal with the bump alfie. I kind of think your expectations are a little too high, but to each their own. :-)

edit: using *#*#4636#*#* my display was on 5% of the time.

click on display and tell me how long has it been on?

Im not going to deal with a bump. The phone should last more then 2-3hrs of screen time period.

display time on 1 hour and 35 minutes. And for your sake Alfie, tomorrow I will retry with the screen on and post my results, but I don't feel like charging my phone till tomorrow and with 43%, I won't have to.
