Received G5. Battery looks to be pretty bad

I'm highly skeptical too despite his screen shots. 8~9hr SoT with 5.3" QHD, 2800mAh battery? That seems better than any other phone if true, maybe even better than iPhone6s+, Droid Turbo 2. Does anyone else with G5 come even remotely close to this?

I haven't sat down and timed it but I've been using it since Friday night and the battery lasts most of the day. I an quite pleased with the performance and I upgraded from a
Droid Maxx which had a 3500 battery. I've been spending a lot time on this phone trying different things and spending a lot of time in this forum. Tomorrow I'll make it a point to keep track of how long it lasts.

Thanks. Also could you tell how you used phone settings like WiFi, location and AOD? I would like someone check if AOD is factored into SoT or not.

I noticed he mentioned turning off WiFi, location (two big battery savers) but still 8~9hr is incredible. 5~6hr SoT would be more believable.

I'm just about to finish up my third discharge cycle in the next few mins. I'm around 7.5 SOT now as I'm typing. So should definitely see 8 hrs SOT! That makes three complete cycles of posts and pics.

Very happy to hear Mike Dee will be sharing his findings with us tomorrow!!! Also, excellent that he is coming off of the 3500mah droid maxx for comparison!!!

You are right in saying I am not using location, wifi, or finger print scanner. I am using Bluetooth, doing tons of streaming via Spotify while also browsing, tooons of texting, emails, forums, social networking, ect.

As hard as it is to believe, LG has definitely accomplished something special this time around!!! This is quite a relief.... as there is nothing worse than having the best tech available in your hand... only to need to have it plugged in 2-3 times a day!!! There will be ZERO of that with G5!!!!! Woooooooo hoooooooo

Yea ikr, also if lg knew their phone could potentiality get 9 hours screen in a tiny battery like that wouldn't that be the best selling point even over the build and modules..I'm just saying..can't wait to see the others with similar SoT like the unicorn guy mentioned..and if I recall April fools was only like 48 hours ago lol

I don't always use wifi because I have unlimited data but I do use it. I usually have location on and as of yesterday I have been using AOD. I don't think AOD uses a lot of juice.

Lol exactly. Let's wait when everyone else is posting their battery life.

Thanks Che!! That's awesome!!! The unicorn guy!!!! I'm going to change my name to that right now!!!!

I assure you average SOT will be at minimum 6hrs for G5.... and should be more like 7-8hrs more often than not.

Someone in a straight gaming drain session could easily kill it faster.... But short of extreme use situation... this thing is a tank!!! Juuuuust about to post third drain cycle pics.. I know I've hit 8hrs SOT this round!!!

It's for sure for sure not April fools today fellas!!!! I'm at 8 hours SOT... Here are the pics!!!! Not much else to say!!! Just hit 5% battery alert!!!

You can clearly see I was on Spotify, Android Central, and browsing chrome alllllll day.... 100% data LTE... the entire time.

I'm just saying those screenshots show a phone with the screen on, not doing anything.

Hours of using the browser (for example) will show up. Hours of not using anything will look exactly like the screenshots in this thread.

This can be debated to death, but that doesn't change the fact that nothing in those screenshots is reported as doing much of anything while the screen was on.

What other handset out there pulls almost another 30 mins SOT while uploading pics and posting to forums with less than 5% battery life!?!! MUST be lithium ion vs li po in all other handsets... Has to be!!!!

Other phones would be way dead... Not letting me type run-on sentences like this and still time to post a last pic!!!! Come on fellas!!! You have to give it ... its due!!!!!

I'm not sure how a dude posting battery life could sound so annoying in just a brief reading...geez. Take a cold shower man.

I have a S7 Edge, I got 1D and 14 hours of useage.
The first day of the phone I used it with normal useage, going through the web, facebook, kik messenger, music and probably an hour of DS emulation and playing a few little games for a few minutes. The next day I used it lightly just used it for music, kik messenger and web browsing, the last few hours I didn't touch it. So we'll knock off 4 hours of me not touching it to see how far it would go. By the end of the night it was at 7% and finally decided to throw it charger. It could of made it through the night and last 48 hours.

My question is why does it say just display? Did you just leave the display on surely if you were using apps, for the 8 hours it would show them higher up on the counter for instance using android central and chrome all day. But hey I could be wrong.

No, you're not wrong.

And I'm not saying the anyone posting the screenshots is lying. I'm just saying that something doesn't add up. It's entirely possible that LG isn't reporting things correctly. Wouldn't be the first time we've seen a phone have problems doing that.
