Received G5. Battery looks to be pretty bad

No, you're not wrong.

And I'm not saying the anyone posting the screenshots is lying. I'm just saying that something doesn't add up. It's entirely possible that LG isn't reporting things correctly. Wouldn't be the first time we've seen a phone have problems doing that.

That maybe the case because the 8 hours of display to me means the display was just left on for 8 hours, but he's claiming he's been on chrome and android central all day and they only make up for 20 percent or so. Unless the way the phone is displaying the usage means the display is taking more out of the battery then those apps are.

OK,if you add chrome,Spotify, and Android Central you can see they account for 34% of this drain... the screen used 49%..

If you think about it, the QHD is always the largest drain on any newer device. It's only normal that it use biggest chunk of the usage.

However 34% of the usage was burned up by chrome, Spotify, and Android Central... Impossible to do that by simply turning on the screen.

The numbers are legit. Not sure what else you could want!?! I'm done with the debate.

3 drains.. More posts and pics than I care to think about. It's all here in this thread for you to see. Take care!!

Not here for a debate just saw/heard you were calling out others and samsung. This is what I said above.

have a S7 Edge, I got 1D and 14 hours of useage.
The first day of the phone I used it with normal useage, going through the web, facebook, kik messenger, music and probably an hour of DS emulation and playing a few little games for a few minutes. The next day I used it lightly just used it for music, kik messenger and web browsing, the last few hours I didn't touch it. So we'll knock off 4 hours of me not touching it to see how far it would go. By the end of the night it was at 7% and finally decided to throw it charger. It could of made it through the night and last 48 hours.

I don't even charge my phone over night anymore with how great my battery life is I just throw it on the charger the next day I wake up.

More power to you. I was taught that sarcasm is a tool for the weak, a sign of weakness.

This is historically what people with a terrible sense of humor say to feel better about themselves.

We get it. You're sceptical. I am too. But he's done way more to prove his claim than you have to disprove it. So give it a rest until more evidence comes out. I'm sure you're way behind on sending angry emails to Comedy Central over their promotion of weakness through sarcasm.

I don't care about what you think, let's just stay on topic.

Right. You don't care, but you spent three posts on humor so far. You care so much your head is bursting.

Here's on topic: Even if this dude is sitting there staring at the home screen with nothing running, 9 hours SOT is incredible. Add bluetooth streaming music, and it's even crazier. His App percentages are lining up with what mine look like, just with much longer durations.

So he either:
A) Has a Jesus battery, which happens from time to time
B) Is full of it, and has been running a well done hoax
C) LG mis-spec'd the battery, or did great with the software, or whatever answer results in awesome battery life.

Android has made some amazing advancements in battery life. A few months ago the idea of charging my phone, unplugging it before going to bed, and waking up with 98% battery was impossible.

In all three cases, you made your skepticism known, and since you are doing precisely zero to disprove the claim, you haven't added anything to the discussion in about 3 pages. I AGREE WITH YOU, I think best buy sucks is doing something different that is skewing the results, but I'm rooting for him because you've become a thread-dementor, and there isn't much happiness left for you to feed on.

best buy suuucks sounds like a hyper 13 year old with his overflowing exclamation points, obvious LG fanboy-ism, and blind glee. But your preachy attack on sarcasm makes you sound worse, like a bitter old man complaining that they don't make cars like they used to while shaking your fist at sarcasm.

Blah blah blah blah blah. I thinks its sweet that you're rooting for him. And I actually hope you guys win, this would mean the G5 truly has incredible battery life and I would consider buying it. But until we see more snd more solid stats like his ill still be skeptical and ill scrutinize it, even if you dislike it.Other than that I don't care about what you think, I just sit back and smile at your post.

I'm just going to chime in to say that this thread has devolved into utter silliness... And I'm loving it.

Android Police, Droid Life, and GSM Arena have all said the battery life on the G5 is pretty bad, with only 2.5 to 3 hours SoT on a charge. At that price point, you're better off getting the S7 edge.

If I wanted a physical home button I'd still be using an iphone. Also LGs one handed operation is far superior imo to Samsungs. That is one of the main reasons I keep going back to LG.

I don't always use wifi because I have unlimited data but I do use it. I usually have location on and as of yesterday I have been using AOD. I don't think AOD uses a lot of juice.

So what kind of SoT can you get doing what kind of stuffs? Can you pull anything close to 8hr? His screen shots seem legit, but it's only him so far showing that kind of battery stats. So it's puzzling to me and we need to see more battery screen shots from others.

If this is true, it's either LG lied about battery capacity of G5 or somehow made their firmware almost 2x more efficient than others and they should tout about it on media than any other features. I doubt that is the case.

Why does anyone care about ONE person's battery stats? His use case is not your use case.
Get your own G5 and run your own tests with the way YOU use a phone.

Um, ok. But Samsung and iPhones are definitely not the same thing.

Because that one person's battery stats are NOWHERE near the norm of the device.

OK firstly people are reporting some astonishing SOT results for LG G5.

However theres one thing I'd like to ask...I myself have 163 apps on my HTC One M8 phone. When I do a full reset / reinstall if I am only signed into 2 OR 3 apps then my battery life is great BUT if I am signed into ALL 163 apps then my battery life decreases greatly. With all these reports of great battery life on the LGG5, are they signed into all their apps? Also is syncing switched on for all these apps too? Furthermore, wouldn't having a dedicated battery software such as GSam give more details information than inbuilt android battery meter so we can see more of how the battery is actually being used... any way good to hear people good battery stats...I'm waiting for HTC M10 before deciding on next phone...

This is really easy to explain. The pics showing 8+ hours of SOT are generated by leaving the phone on the lowest brightness setting and just leaving the screen on all day. Then, that picture showing the ridiculous amount of SOT, is paired with the other pictures which are captured during a normal day of usage. Every year when new phones are released there will be someone doing this..

The LG G5 is one awesome phone. People will dog anything out. Some people talk trash about fancy cars, why? because the can. Is right? no Does it make them right? no so what is my point, buy it if you want it. I love it. its a fantastic phone. the best out imo.

oh and I have great battery life. Its better than the Galaxy s6, HTC A9, and many other flagships. I have not use the GS7 so cant compare them. BLU is the best phone company when it comes to battery life. The vivo XL is the best hands down. SO the LG G5 is not the best, but better than most and when I can pop my extra battery in it, that makes it the best ever.
