Received Official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA this morning

After checking for the update far too many times over the course of the weekend, using the airplane mode/google services framework method worked the first time for me. I did this about one minute after checking for an update without jumping through any hoops. Looks like this method works...

The "trick" worked for me first try, also!!!!!! Downloading as I type...

I tried the update method posted by EnragedNinja (thanks) and modified version by HeathWala (thanks). Neither one worked :-\ Waited a bit and then just turned on airplane mode, turned on wifi, cleared GFS cache, tried CHECK NOW and it worked! So there is some variety of combinations that may work. Guess you have to just keep trying different tings? Who knows...

OK. Just like everyone else, I tried all weekend with no luck. Today, I have been trying this morning and finally got it Here is how I got it to work.

Made sure settings app was not in recent apps (the 2 rectangle icon)
Used the power long press to get into airplane mode
Then went into apps-> GFS, force stop, clear data
Then turned on wi-fi via the power toggle widget (still in airplane mode though)
then checked for updates and got it.

Who knows if this did any good but it can't hurt to try.

Although she could care less, my girlfriends GNexus updated this morning with no tricks. Now if verizon would hurry up and update my DInc2...

Tried same with N7 but it doesn't like the method. Any others who have the 7 with ideas to force it..

Got it just now by clearing data from Google Framework. I did try several times by tapping force stop instead, but clearing the data did it for me. Awesome. So long overdue.
While it was installing There was a message that the update was available via wifi only until Oct 4th, so be sure to turn data off.

Finally got JB at around 3-4 am Pacific time today. Just waited for it the past few days and it automatically asked to download on my phone. Feels great so far!

What are you trying to force on the n7?

Anyone else having issues with FoxFi WiFi mode after loading JB? Keeps telling me to use Bluetooth mode instead. Never had this issue on ICS.

N7 already has JB...there is nothing to force.

Actually after the 4.1.1 update loaded after I put it down, thinking it wouldn't load, then I wrote the post about how to load it. Now it has loaded, so strangely all got loaded. But, thanks timato for checking in. I won't look back now..

It could very well have been 4.1.1 JB already on it, but after I forced the JB flavor to the GN, I went to the N7 and thought I saw the previous version. All is well now though and thanks for the reboot question slave2theaxe. Want your bigger bike for a ride on Hwy. 1 north of Crescent City to Coos Bay, windy roads, at 100 mph, my kind of Sunday drive..

Been trying for days with all the old GFS tricks and nothing. Tried the airplane mode method for the first time today and it downloaded first try. Thanks guys!

I had been trying EVERY trick in this thread since Friday and nothing at all was working for me, until just now. Here's what I did (though my experience from this thread makes me think it's going to be hit or miss whether this works for anyone else):

1) Turn on Airplane Mode
2) Force stop/Clear Google Framework
3) Turn off phone with Airplane mode still on
4) Restart Phone
5) Once booted, activate WiFi only, leaving Airplane mode still on (I used the Power Control Widget to toggle it on)
6) Check for updates

Again, this probably won't work for everyone, but it's how I managed to get it after three days of trying everything else in this thread. Mine is installing now - good luck to everyone else who's still waiting!

Above worked like a champ. Thanks.

I just went through the process of restoring my unlocked/rooted/ROMd phone to stock 4.0.4 with the intention of using the Airplane mode tweak to force the 4.1.1 download. I'd gone back to stock and connected to my wifi network then went to the bathroom, when I came back 5 minutes later it was already doing the update.... sweet!

Been trying what seems like every 5 minutes since Friday, with no luck. But thanks to the posters on this thread, I finally am getting it now.

Did it this way:

1) Airplane mode on
2) Force Stop Google Framwork Services
3) Clear GFS data
4) Shutdown the the phone
5) On boot (with airplane mode one) turn on WiFi
6) Check updates finally worked!

Didn't work when I tried it twice without the reboot.

Now it's currently Optimizing 182 of 388 apps.

Thanks!!

The GSF force data to close and clear data is definitely making a difference. I have been impatiently clicking the update button since the first announcement was made and no dice, hitting the update button in Settings/about phone gave me no results (always showed updated)

I did follow steps as recommended by others:

- Cleared all recent apps
- Airplane mode
- GSF force close and clear data
- WiFi on
- Go settings/about phone and hit update button.
- Downloading update as I type

I love this forum. Reverted back to stock on Friday and none of the tricks worked to activate the update until now. Decided to look on the forum tonight to see if there was another method and 3 minutes later here comes my update. Thanks again.
