Received Official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA this morning

THIS WORKED!! It clicked the first time on my phone. Had to do it 5 times on my wife's phone though.

Much appreciated! Was tired of waiting.

Finally got it. Airplane mode on, WiFi on, Fores Stop GSF, Clear Data, Check for update and it was there n my second try.

Got it! Tried every trick over the last 2 days. Tried clearing data BEFORE force stop on GSF and the update came through immediately!

Tried all the "tricks" to no avail on my wife's phone...then after leaving it alone, it updated on its own last night.

Then she dropped and broke it today...lol

Got mine this morning in central jersey. Bored at work so I cleared data on framework like 3 times and it suddenly popped. I like it so far. The device is definitely smoother.

I finally got mine. Not much of a signal still. But at least it's not X'ing out now.

I can't help but wonder.

After we are repeatedly jumping through all of these steps....some that could cause errors in the Google Play Store ....Then the update appears.

Ya think that maybe the update appeared because it was our time to get it anyway?

I dunno I am just going to wait just like I did for the last update. Must say that I have Jellybean on my tablet so I already know it's benefits. I will just wait for it to come to my phone, then I will be happy and hopefully satisfied about it.
Well I think you're 90% right in terms of most additional steps... (I could be wrong) but here's my view and experience from this morning about the original trick
Alright I've reached a conclusion... I'm positive its not a coincidence... I got 4.0.4 almost immediately after clearing GSF a while back

I had to bring my phone back to stock ICS recently and still have it there now...
So when the OTA came decided to see it hit my phone (just wanna see what stock JB is like)

This morning... I checked for updates at about 10 20 PDT Nothing there
For the hell of it I cleared data in GSF and tried again (this was about 30 seconds later)

The update was there.

So a lot of folks are saying that clearing GSF does nothing... its all a coincidence

Well... if it does NOTHING then it means that I just happened to check for updates 30 seconds before Google pushed the update...

This is basically how it worked during 4.0.4 but not quite as quick an interval

The odds on this.. .even with a staggered rollout are absolutely miniscule

So here's what I think: You can't get the update to push to your phone any faster....

However... once the update is pushed to your phone checking for updates does not always find it

Clearing GSF seems to help your phone do a better check

(Notice how when you check and its on 1969 the update check takes far longer even if it finds nothing?)

As you can see the odds are iits doing something

Seems likely it's that the check doesn't always get done fully even after getting pushed to our phones which is supported by such experiencs and the extra time it spends checking when it hasn't checked since 69 lol

Airplane mode on / clear GFS data / close Settings / Airplane mode off / hurry to System Updates & press check repeatedly while connection icons are still grey just worked for me.

Sweet! This worked for me. Thanks dookie!
To make the "hurry to System Updates" part easier. Before turning Airplane mode back off, I navigated to that screen and was ready to start clicking "Check Now". I did have a low battery though and it said it couldn't install unless I plugged in. Did that. Doing the reboot and install now.

And I doubt that it was "just my turn" because the phone said last checked about 15 minutes ago.

Anybody here rooted that unrooted to get the official update?
Been running Bugless Beast but thinking of going back to the stock rom, then rooting so I can still make backups :)

Just got mine about an hour ago, I did the trick once and nothing waited like ten mins tried again and finally it was there. I had also tried about 20 times the day before and nothing. Awesome I finally have it. Even though I was on aokp and before that other jelly bean roms I went back to stock for battery life and Idk just because I was curious of what stock jelly bean would feel like. It feels the same I just think my battery life will be better. One thing I wish they added was the ability to change the lock screen wallpaper. I will probably go back to roms just wanted to try stock. :/

Also on aokp I was getting data drops along with bad battery life like 7 hours on extended battery. Stock I never had a problem with dropping data, and battery life was like decent.

Wife's phone got JB update this morning when she turned it on, no special tricks just a wifi signal. Westchester County NY. Now I may go back to stock and use VZW JB. Got to see how there version works 1st.

I had been trying EVERY trick in this thread since Friday and nothing at all was working for me, until just now. Here's what I did (though my experience from this thread makes me think it's going to be hit or miss whether this works for anyone else):

1) Turn on Airplane Mode
2) Force stop/Clear Google Framework
3) Turn off phone with Airplane mode still on
4) Restart Phone
5) Once booted, activate WiFi only, leaving Airplane mode still on (I used the Power Control Widget to toggle it on)
6) Check for updates

Again, this probably won't work for everyone, but it's how I managed to get it after three days of trying everything else in this thread. Mine is installing now - good luck to everyone else who's still waiting!

Airplane mode on / clear GFS data / close Settings / Airplane mode off / hurry to System Updates & press check repeatedly while connection icons are still grey just worked for me.

I've been checking on and off since released, trying most of the methods herein. I think there's something to the checking just as Google Services (blue connection icons) are connecting... perhaps before they can ID the device and put you in your "proper" place in queue?

In any case, I do not believe this was a coincidence. Try it and see.

After total frustration with all tricks, I gave up yesterday and decided to wait it out. This morning I tried this just for grins using Power Toggles to turn Airplane Mode on/off quickly. Worked on the first try. Still cannot believe it. Tidewater Virginia.

BTW, if this works for you please go back a couple of pages and thank EnragedNinja for posting this technique. Your mother will be proud of you.

I don't know who figures all this stuff out, but I tried it last night and after following the directions, it worked perfectly! Thanks everyone!

After checking for the update far too many times over the course of the weekend, using the airplane mode/google services framework method worked the first time for me. I did this about one minute after checking for an update without jumping through any hoops. Looks like this method works...
