Re: [RECOVERY] Cannibal Open Touch v1.0.8 (sig verification FIXED

No really Swear to God it happened to me on thekravens cm7.2 its definitely not a wipe ....it kinda like a grenade went off some files are untouched others gone completely then others incorrect file size, file names gibberish and the lost and found folder looks like a md5 sum nightmare that died and went straight to hell
............its eViL!
Undelete DOES NOT work after this happens
....eeevvviiilll!!!

it happened to me too, it deleted so many icons and wallpapers and other stuff i had on it, but it didn't take it all :/

Re: [RECOVERY] Cannibal Open Touch v1.0.8 (sig verification FIXED

@drew, I think I just found another proof of the law of cybernetic entomology :D

backup and restore
advanced restore
(choose nandroid)
Restore sd-ext

Screen output:

Checking MD5 sums...
Restoring cache...

Restore complete!

Hoping it is sd-ext restore, and just reports cache incorrectly.

Here is the recovery.log
https://www.dropbox.com/s/s7y12630kq2pzx9/recovery.log

Congratulations, you found a bug! (and a rather silly one at that!)

Unfortunately it's reporting cache correctly... This will be fixed in the next release of Cannibal Open Touch.

See this commit to see how stupid this bug is.

Just couldn't resist the urge.

Edit: actually that's a revert but one of those in there, you reverted and re-reverted a bunch lol

Re: [RECOVERY] Cannibal Open Touch v1.1 (HUGE update!)

[INFO]Update Announcement:
Cannibal Open Touch v1.1 has been released! There are several new features, fixes and enhancements that warranted this version bump.

1) e2fsprogs (mke2fs, tune2fs, e2fsck) and their supporting libraries has now been moved internally. This shaved about 400K of space off of the recovery image.
2) Thanks to sblood86, the "retouch binaries" feature from the ICS recovery has been backported to Cannibal Open Touch. This shaves a little more space.
3) OpenRecoveryScript has undergone some important enhancements, namely the confirmation of ALL wipe functions, and fixing of the reboot function.
4) The Advanced menu has been reorganized, and a new "Debugging Options" menu is now available.
5) While preparing this build, a bug was reported that caused choosing "restore sd-ext" from the "advanced restore" menu to restore cache instead. This has been fixed in v1.1.

As always, hit up the first post for the details![/INFO]

Re: [RECOVERY] Cannibal Open Touch v1.1 (HUGE update!)

Changelog
v1.1: ORS patches, Advanced menu reorganization, retouch patches, internal e2fsprogs, fixed sd-ext restores

A few small notes that Drew neglected to mention in regards to the ORS patches:

Apart from fixing the actual things wrong with ORS I also added in a few small features;
If you find the approval prompts when wiping your data, cache and dalvik cache to be annoying you can disable them by adding a file '.orsnoconfirm' to the clockworkmod folder of your sdcard, that is to say the exact file path should be:
Code:
/sdcard/clockworkmod/.orsnoconfirm

Secondly, if you would like recovery to always reboot after processing an openrecoveryscript you can add a file '.orsalwaysreboot' to the clockworkmod folder as well; this will cause the recovery to reboot after the script is complete (unless an error is called from somewhere during the script, errors should take you to the main recovery menu). The exact filepath for that would be:
Code:
/sdcard/clockworkmod/.orsalwayreboot

As always, enjoy.

I got a wild hair and thought I might try to update to v1.1 via GooManager, but the only version in there is v1.0.6, which is so last week. :D Any plans to upload this one to goo.im?

According to the descript above, you're missing an 's' in the filename here. ;)

GooManager won't flash recovery images, only zips.

Yes unfortunately as sblood86 so trollingly pointed out, my Amend patches were to blame. But it's been fixed for v1.1, so restore that sd-ext partition like it's nobody's business!

just wanted to say thanks for your hard work in making this little phone great.

also I used the zip to install the recovery and worked great as expected :thumbup:

Re: [RECOVERY] Cannibal Open Touch v1.1 (HUGE update!)

[INFO]Special Announcement:
There are now three ways to install Cannibal Open Touch!

1) Using the manual install instructions in the first post.
2) Using the ZIP installer instructions in the first post.
3) Downloading COT-v1.1-ls670-signed.zip using GooManager! (only supported if updating from a previous ORS-enabled version)[/INFO]

Re: [RECOVERY] Cannibal Open Touch v1.1 (HUGE update!)

So I am confused... GooManager handles the download of the COT zip and then we can manually flash it in COT recovery using the 'Install zip from sdcard' option. But it can't do the scripted auto flash thing with the recovery yet if we have COT >= v1.0.8? Or can it..?

No it can't. The recovery image has to be registered with Goo as being compatible with GooManager and I'm not sure how to do that yet. I'm providing the flashable zip until I can get that worked out.

Thanks for the quick reply! So much to look forward to here. :)

On a sidenote, I talked my GF into letting me put this on her Opti S this past weekend. The conversation went something like this:
Her: I don't see why, I like it how it is...

Me: It's a really great update that will allow us [me] to change ROMs that much easier, it has scripting to get out of jams if we really hose it up somehow or remove something important, has the framework for doing automated updates in the future... they may even build in a scheduler that reminds us [you] to do a backup every so often. Just look at this!

Her: Sigh... Ooh! The little dinosaur is so cute! I want it! What other colors can you make it?

[I proceed to show her all the available themes, knowing where this is going...]

Her: Dinosaur blue is just fine. :)
Damnit, Steve Jobs was a genius.

Great job on this recovery! Now only if I could get goo manager installed.
Still running Reborn?

From Play Store page for Goo Manager Beta:
Requires Android:
2.3 and up
It is sort of a paradox when they are advertising the 'Installs Froyo and GB ROMs' where if you were to install a Froyo ROM, you could no longer use the front end software. :D

I would assume if you asked in the rootzwiki forum, the Goo.Im devs might try to help with that. I mean, I'd assume they'd love more exposure on devices.
