Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

Yesterday, I called my buddy at a VZW authorized agent and he said that they got the phones in stock and I could pick mine up tomorrow (Friday). I knew it was a long shot, but hey worth a try. When I sent him a text this am, he called me and said that they got an email from VZW this am that said NOT to sell the phones yet. So oh well, I am in the same situation as everyone else.....Patiently waiting......or maybe NOT patiently waiting. It is what it is.....

New Rumored launch date... Jan 17th... reason: VZW is waiting for the HTC Thunderbolt users who bought it on a ONE year contract on the first day... this is the first day they can upgrade and buy into a full two year contract!!!

there's no chance they're killing it... the phones are at the stores.

plus google will want this phone out... google is also the new owners of motorola's mobile arm, and verizon obviously has a sweet heart deal with the DROID branded phones, and would not want to screw that relationship up by killing this phone and pissing off the owners of said DROID brand.

there were issues... probably the 4G outage... and that delayed it. it will be out soon.

No, they would rather we get the Rezound probably. Actually they would probably wish we get the Razr so they can pay for their Droid license.

I don't think Verizon is planning to release before Christmas... they just got the Xyboard *retch* out in less than three days. If they wanted the Nexus out, it would be out.

Verizon. Seriously.

i love how everybody kills verizon over the release of the RAZR and the XYBOARD as if it's somehow part of the conspiracy theory to kill the Nexus... conveniently forgetting that the RAZR and XY are made by a company that is now owned by Google.

Google obviously wants the Galaxy Nexus out, sooner than later. Every high ranking Google exec pretty much walks around with a Nexus stapled to their heads. If there wasn't a legitimate reason for this recent delay, I think Google would put some pressure on Verizon to ensure it's release.... even with a simple "we'll remember this" edict. i.e. when whatever contracts you had with Motorola are up, yea... don't expect us to play nicey nice.

The phone will be out. Soon.

Motorola is not the owner of the Droid brand, Verizon is. True there seem to be more Motorola Droid branded phones than any other manufacturer. But you're forgetting about the HTC Droid Eris, Incredible, Incredible 2, and the Samsung Droid Charge

It's probably been mentioned, but most people seem to think Verizon is just holding on and not selling it because it is in stock in the stores. I don't think that is necesarrily accurate. I have talked to Verizon employees and many different stores and they do NOT have any in stock (some just received the demo). The last guy said he has seen delays over stock issues before. Maybe it is delayed because the stock has gotten to all the stores yet??

I went to my local store just in case I could get my hands on one. The lady says they got four in and she sold three yesterday before her boss told her they weren't supposed to sell it. I've got a deposit down with my name for the last phone and she says she thinks they're going to be able to sell them next Thursday. I'll believe it when I see it, but can't help but wish I had visited yesterday instead of today.

i'm not forgetting them... but the RAZR, DROID4 and XY are all motorola products, owned by Google. And verizon does work very closely with Motorola, with the DROID brand phones and others.

i highly doubt verizon wants to piss off Google by killing off this phone.

there's an issue with it... be it the 4G outage, a problem with the OTA update, working out details over google wallet... whatever... something happened. Verizon, Google, Samsung... they all stand to make a lot of money off of this. They're not gonna bury the damned thing, especially when the phones are already in (most) stores.

If I were Verizon I'd bump it back passed the extended return time in Jan so everyone that rented a razr or rezound has to keep it. Not that they are bad phone or anything but just to not have thousands of refurbs....

It's not about knocking down the network it's about actually activating the phone.

The issues we were having yesterday were preventing or delaying the activation of 4G phones and the Droid RAZR was having SIM card authentication problems. They are NOT going to do a 4G phone launch in the middle of that can you imagine how irritated the customers wll be. A 4G phone can take up to 15-20 mins to activate under normal conditions, now add this to the mix and you are asking for trouble.

It's interesting to note that during the nationwide outage. Several employees activated their store display units w/ out so much as a hiccup. I uave yet to read that any of them were unable to be activated. In fact, every SME, I've read has said they had it activated in a flash. No prob?
