Release Date Pool

12/8 for me - no pre order and no discernable advertising either...just shows up in their system and on the website.....

Or it might be reintroduced at CES.

Where it would be overlooked as the Plain Jane brought along on the double-date so that your buddy can have someone to hang with while you game the hottie.

Face it, with all of the other new stuff that gets center-staged at CES the NG would be a wallflower. VZW better get on the ball and release it before then, or they'll encounter a huge opportunity cost....

I'm going to be optimistic and go with the 8th; VZW would still have enough time from then til Christmas to move some stock.

Phandroid and Droid Life crack me up. There's an article on Phandroid referencing the MAP that leaked with the Nexus launching on 11/28. In the article, they go on to say that 11/28 was the plan, but they couldn't ship stock that week. Are they aware that 11/28 hasn't happened yet? I'm not saying the phone is launching that date, but they're noting that there's proof in the MAP that it "could have" launched on 11/28.

Correction: it -could- launch on 11/28. It just most likely won't.

I got dips on 12/29/2011.

If this were a legit betting pool, I'd buy this date from you. My guess is the same, largely so that Verizon can say "see, we said before the end of the year." If they had not said that, I'd say mid-to-late January.

P3Droid (I know, I know) said last week that the phones aren't in the US and won't clear U.S. customs this month. That rumor seems odd to me, but appears to be playing out.

I'm buying into that rumor more now (although it's still rather iffy). Until we see reports of Nexus inventory in Verizon's systems then I don't think Verizon actually has any stock available to sell yet. If that's the case, then a mid to late December release will be more likely. I personally think the "bloatware problems", "continuing testing", and "Razr/Rezound selling priority" are more red herrings than anything else. Well, they may actually be factors but I don't think they make the up the whole picture.

Just going out on a limb here but I'd say sometime this decade for sure

Also from what he and I think one other person were saying the December 8th date is already out the window at this point. Source aside, If the phones haven't shipped yet, that would make sense from a logistics standpoint. As far as sources go, different people have different sources at different positions within the company. Internal dates change and plans change often so it could be very well true that all the dates that have been thrown around have been actual dates at some point in time, but were changed.

Drawing some correlation: I used to work for a very well known company (rhymes with Blubbermaid) doing packaging design and I can't tell you how many times internal launch dates were thrown around, changed, cancelled, reinstated, etc. Dealing with the different retail channels, we had products ready to go only to have them postponed indefinitely or held for a few months. There were whole product systems that went through mutiple life cycles internally and back and forth between channels before they were ever released. That's why none of this really surprises or upsets me, and why I tend to believe all dates and most info were valid at some point in time. It's just how things work.

December 15th. Threw a dart at a calendar and this is where it landed, so it must be true right?:D

I do remember someone posting that they contacted VZW, about moving up their upgrade date several months to be specifically able to get the GN.

The customer service rep. then said they could move it up to December. Not November, not January, but December.

Sounds like a inadvertent way of saying "hey I can't give a release date, because I would be fired, but I can give you a 4 week window when it might be available".

Pure speculation, but interesting just the same.

I think we'll see this device before Christmas, even if VZW is indifferent about it, I can't see them letting a high-end item like this push past the holiday shopping season.

Held up in customs are you kidding me? Samsung has no problem shipping their phones over here whatsoever. FCC approved the thing, it technically could've bee released the following day. That makes no sense, it's been stateside testing for months. Google and Samsung are awaiting VzW announcement on the release date. Any red herring speculation makes more sense than being held up in customs. P3 is a so-so source, he enjoys fiction as much as fact. This phone is shipped, it's in their dc and awaiting a green light on a bug fix b4 it's released en masse. It won't pop up outside of the dc inventory until the greenlight is given, which is why the skus have popped in their systems and store stockrooms. Sit tight, it's going to get a fix, soon. Verizon doesn't train sales people on their upcoming phones, a month in advance of a release unless something goes wrong. They definitely expected a release sooner than Dec. 8.

I just dont know if i can trust a gnome humper :)

I would love to know if any of the guys working in the DC have any idea of the pandemonium going on about al those little boxes they walk by every day. Or the fact that they could 3500 easily for sneaking out jist 5 smal boxes ;)

Vegas oddsmakers are showing 7/2 for 12/8/2012.

No word for the over/under on the date yet.:p

Non disclosure agreements and the fact they are in their system accounted for and traceable. What would be the need, LTE models have already in the hands of others in the wild . What's their risk, job security, benefits, worth risk for a phone. Not to mention a corp. lawsuit brought against some schlub who stole a phone in hopes of getting a few $$ for xmas? Who's dumb enough to do that? If this wasvablucrative idea for employees every phone would be pre released to the wild. look at the ish that guy caught from that iphone proto being lost then tracked down. That's a serious issue for someobe to cobtend w/ for a phone.

LOL! i was joking! but, thanks for the detailed dissertation of standard corporate legal procedures and consequences for low level employees!
