Went to Verizon today to get my wife's rental Rezound. I was talking with one of the reps saying I'll be back to get the Nexus for myself and another rep chimed in with "We got an official release date now!" Me, wondering if something had been posted in the 2 hours since I had been out said "December 8th?" an he said yes. Then I asked him where Verizon released that info and he said that Samsung did. So I guess he just got his info from a blog and didn't hear anything official at all lol.

Lol. I understand. Ive been the same. A little out of character! I just get so damn irritated at some of the rubes on here.

I still say we should champion a sarcastic font. Sarcasm is very hard to pick up on in type!

Held up in customs are you kidding me? Samsung has no problem shipping their phones over here whatsoever. FCC approved the thing, it technically could've bee released the following day. That makes no sense, it's been stateside testing for months. Google and Samsung are awaiting VzW announcement on the release date. Any red herring speculation makes more sense than being held up in customs. P3 is a so-so source, he enjoys fiction as much as fact. This phone is shipped, it's in their dc and awaiting a green light on a bug fix b4 it's released en masse. It won't pop up outside of the dc inventory until the greenlight is given, which is why the skus have popped in their systems and store stockrooms. Sit tight, it's going to get a fix, soon. Verizon doesn't train sales people on their upcoming phones, a month in advance of a release unless something goes wrong. They definitely expected a release sooner than Dec. 8.

The tweet from P3 actually said it was going through customs at the end of the month, he didn't imply any hold up. Simply a shipment would be reaching our shores at that time. Aside from that, I'm not going to argue whether or not he is right. Anything he, you, me, or anyone says in regards to this phone (without any evidence or cold hard proof) is pure speculation and opinion. Left with that, I have to try and balance what I believe is true or false, and what makes the most sense to me. Unfortunately I inject a dose of cynicism into my line of thinking so I have a tendency to think and believe the worst case a lot of the time.

Anyways, forgive me if my opinions on the matter get under your skin so easily. That was not my intent. It's a "FWIW" type of thing.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the phone will be released on a day that ends in 'y.' I know, I know---such a bold and daring prediction. But try to prove me wrong!

Question for you fellow Verizon peeps. Does anyone know if Verizon will let you upgrade a phone if your about 3/4 of the way thru your contract. Basically my wife isn't due for an upgrade till June and I was curious if anyone on here has ever received an early upgrade. Verizon's been pretty cool so far on other things. they hooked me up with unlimited data even though I never had it before.

I don't know how far they'll go but I am eligible to upgrade now but have my last "new every two" available on 12/24. A CSR I spoke to a couple weeks ago told me that I was close enough that they could move it up a bit but I declined since I couldn't get the phone that I wanted (yet).

As much bashing as VZW is getting around here, I am the first to admit that they have been very good to me over the years and that I don't have any room to complain. Sprint on the other hand.....

OP in one of the "Email the VZW execs" threads got his date moved up a pretty significant amount just by shooting off a couple (presumably) well-worded emails about the perceived delay of the GN. I'd say it's worth a shot. I know that's likely what I'll do when the next must-have device comes out just short of my upgrade date.
