Release Date

I spoke with a rep at an official Verizon store today, and he said the Bionic would be releasing "around March 1st." This would weave in perfectly with what the a rep told an XDA member (March 4th). Mr. Jha says end o' Q2, and he would be a bit more trustworthy. I'm still hoping March though :D

That def could be the reason because the only different from the inspire is the radio. Unless the kickstand is made out of platinum, there is no other reason haha

Well the phones are a bit more different then a kickstand.

+Both phones are equipped with a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, however, they are not exactly the same model.

+The Inspire has 768MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard memory while the HTC Thunderbolt has the same 768MB RAM, but with 8GB of onboard memory.

+Thunderbolt also has a 1.3MP front facing camera that the Inspire is not equipped with.

+The Thunderbolt has a 32GB microSD card Pre-installed, the inspire has a 2gb (I think that's correct, I know it's a low number)

+ the mighty kickstand

Sorry, but I'll believe it when I see it. If it were that close this place would be buzzing a whole lot more. No chance it gets released before the Thunderbolt (now due next Fri).

Thunderbolt is not even Released and there has been talk that HTC paid Verizon to have its phone out first. So May it is or probably later.

With tb pushed to the 10th im now looking at this device. The cons for the bionic vs tb for me is no voice and data over 3g, no custom kernels. Everything else on the bionic seems superior to me. I don't think having less ram is really a con. The lack of custom kernels really only mattered for battery life for me, which with the bionics huge batt makes that con not so bad, it will still beat the tb with stock battery.

Snap! Tbolt just got pushed back. I'm guessing that means Bionic will consequently get pushed back, too. :( Maybe I'll go with the Thunderbolt... (I'm dying to get a new phone)

I think the tb is going to be released when it was initially supposed to so my guess is that we will see this mid april maybe a little later

I do not think the Bionic will be back up because the Thunderbolt has been delayed..

For all the talk about the Bionic getting pushed back due to the Thunderbolt getting pushed back ... the release date for the Thunderbolt was never officially released, in which case, it's never been delayed. And early speculation was that it would be released mid-March. Considering that, it's not that the Thunderbolt is delayed, it's that it may have been looking to be released earlier than planned. Either way, I don't see how it's release has any impact on the Bionic's release, particularly when the early predictions for it would be a mid-April release. All in all, everything's still on schedule. ;)

bolt was never pushed back. it hasn't even missed the "original" date.

BMX's poem outed 3/17 as the release date for the Tbolt.

Going off of that, it stands to reason that the release date for the Bionic will be 4/28 ..

"For if you wait but a scant
till after the passover event
you may find dual core gold?"

I don't know what a scant is, however, the first Thursday (Verizon releases phones on Thursdays) after passover is the 28th. If not the 28th, I'd guess 5/5 . Can't hold back too long, lots more devices in the pipe

A Scant is a small amount, and I say that waiting til the end of April is more than a "Scant", but the sooner the better. Just wish they would announce at least a perspective date.

I would be happier with a (*Subject to change) date and give us some idea. Having Moto say, "We would like to release the Bionic the week of XXX" and just keep us up to date with any problems they have that may push it back would be much better than one "End of Q1" announcement months ago that they have no plan to hit now.

You bring up a really good point.
I do see this as a better idea, but look at the kind of problem it got the Thunderbolt. It was all set to be released in February, then a major problem with the battery occured, and now, for some reason, it's delayed until this month.

Now, monkeys(and by monkeys i mean corporate baboons, er buffoons) tend not to like it when they are told that they might get a banana by a certain time. These monkeys will then retaliate in anger and start throwing stuff if they don't get their banana. Also, if they are told the banana was delayed because it was spoiled, the monkeys will not want the banana once it comes out, as it is a bad banana.

I use this analogy to represent the majority of the human culture, and mostly the united states. If people used common knowledge and logic like you and I do on forums, I'm pretty sure we'd be getting more ETA's. But, alas, we don't, because not enough people do their research and try to understand.

TL;DR:
If you learn, you deserve ETA's. Otherwise you're hosed.

I predict that it will be released on Thursday, April 28th. Why? Black_man_x said that if we wait a little after the passover event you may find dual core gold, and the 28th is the first Thursday after it. Verizon tends to release phones on Thursdays.

Didn't I read there is a mysterious Moto phone at FCC and they think it might be the Droid X2? Maybe he is talking about that phone, not the Bionic?

In any case, I hope this phone comes out soon. Maybe Verizon learned some important lessons from the TB delays/batter issues and passed it on to Moto so they can get the Bionic ready for release sooner.

In the meantime, has anyone seen a side-by-side comparison of the Bionic's qHD display vs. the iPhone's Retina display? (This is probably the biggest reason I'm waiting for the Bionic instead of jumping on the TB).

The qHD display isn't going to be as good as the iPhone's. (but then again, not much is) Its close in resolution, but its also almost an inch bigger. There is also the pixel layout the qHD displays use, which makes it less crisp.

It'll be plenty good though, so don't worry about it.

I don't know how much longer I can wait for a new phone I might have to get the TB and get my wife the bionic

Day to day use my Viphone compared to my Droid X - I don't see any advantages to the Reitna screen at less than 4 inches. At 10 inches I'd be interested. In other words I like the X screen and the Viphone screen but would not choose one over the other based on screen.

Went into Verizon today and one rep. told me he didn't know when the Bionic was coming out but then another rep. said it's going to be June- it's always been scheduled for June. I hate in-store reps....
