Release Date

With the nixing of 1yr contracts, I don't just hate the reps... I hate Verizon. Seriously to "streamline" the contract process and because "customers rarely chose the 1 yr option." I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW A 1 YEAR OPTION EXISTED (until recently). They never told me about it. Never offer it. Nothing.

Damn you VZW.

Damn you VZW.

That's because they stand to make more off of two year contracts. Especially if commission is involved. What I hate is that it's supposed to be in our 'best interest'. Ya know, because our simple consumer brains are not capable of understanding these things. It's very condescending.

It's very condescending.

Indeed. I plan to buy off contract now since I can afford it and do the craigslist/ebay thing for each phone I want now. First tiered data and now this? Pretty soon they'll charge for each word spoken during a phone conversation. Since, you know, the word "the" takes alot less what we call in the biz 'communication power' to be spoken and transmitted compared to something bloated such as "supercalafragalisticexpialadoshus."

Just sayin'

An Indianapolis man! :o That's my hometown dude!

Anyway, I'm a secondary number on my parents phone plan, probably going to upgrade to the Bionic whenever it comes out, since Tucson won't get LTE till Summer time-ish.

I hope all these changes are an idicator of impending releases of phones, such as the Bionic.

You do realize that is the best way you can ensure that Verizon makes the most omney off of you correct? Continuing to pay their monthly fees without having them subsidize your phone purchases means they make the most profit off you.

You?re only going to show them you?re not happy by switching carriers.

You understand that it will take a lot more than a few people to switch carriers for VZW to even notice and also where would users go to have better service tied with more fair pricing structure. KEYWORD: Service

This guy.

I hate to say it, but right now VZW is the captain of the football team taking ten different girls to prom and they're all fighting amongst themselves to figure out who gets to lose their virginity first.

My point: Verizon is sitting pretty in the knowledge that they're the best.

I'm aware of that. I was only pointing out to the individual how his current mode of thinking would do no good.

@Dixonba But do we have any idea as to what kind of timeline VZW works on to add devices to that?

Yeah, I'd like to know as well. No mstter when it comes out, I'm getting the Bionic. All this waiting since CES and nothing else is making me a little antsy though.

Isn't it funny. The tagline for the Bionic is "The end of waiting", but that is what we are all doing.....WAITING

A reputable mod by the name of FAUguy over at Howard Forums made this statement regarding the Bionic a couple of days ago:

"At this point, I'm skeptical, and will be highly surprised if this phone gets out the door. There have been a lot of internal issues with the Bionic. Maybe the best thing to do is focus on the Targa?"

Someone then followed up and asked if that was just his impression or if he had a source he can't reveal, to which FAUguy responded:

"At this point I've said all that I'm allowed to. I'm sure more info will be posted when it's available and certain."

I'm not exactly feeling warm and fuzzy after hearing that... :-\

Definitely doesn't give a warm and fuzzy feeling. I wonder though what the "internal issues" are. Are they hardware/software issues with the Bionic? Or issues within Verizon and/or Motorola? Lots of different ways to interpret his statement.

I doubt very seriously that there is any truth to this. The Bionic will launch and will launch on time. The only issue is we do not know what that time is....

Yah, I hear ya. I'd love to know exactly what the internal issues are too. Unfortunately, he can't say more than that at this time. Hopefuly we'll find out soon.

Well, his first sentence was merely his own personal feelings/opinion based on the facts he has. As far as his second sentence, where he states, "There have been a lot of internal issues with the Bionic", I assure you that is fact. I've been a member of Howard Forums for quite a while now and have no problem vouching for FAUguy's credibility. He wouldn't say something like that if it weren't true. So, if he's concerned that the release of the Bionic will be delayed or cancelled altogether, then I'm definitely concerned too.
