Release Date

I'm starting to think that verizon has something up their sleeves with the bionic. I highly doubt that they would allow AT&T to out do them on hardware specs with basically the same phone. Due to the bionic being ETAed for Q2, there is still time to up those specs

We all would. I just hope the whole Thunderbolt back-and-fourth with release dates doesn't happen with the Bionic.

Dont you mean AT&T did the same thing Tmobile did with this HSPA? Sprints wimax speeds are pretty identical to Verizon's LTE speedtests from what i've seen. Im buying the Thunderbolt and the only thing that really concerns me is the fact that Verizon was getting around 12 megs tops and thats with very few people actually using LTE so far. Once there are a ton of people using it thats going to change.

That is certainly not true as I speedtested an LTE modem here in Philly and pulled 22Mb/s down and 6Mb/s up.

I don't expect speeds to plummet in the near future as adoption of these phones will not be immediate.

they cant let att take the thunder away from vzw with the atrix, they need to get this phone out asap. hopefully around may for my birthday would be nice

What I don't get us how the thunderbolt costs 700 off of contract but the inspire is only 400? If I was going to spend 700 on a device I would just add 100 and get the xoom

Could it be that the extra radio really does make it that much more complicated? The more fair comparison would be to the cost of the EVO when it came out. I bought mine for $450 OFF CONTRACT straight from Sprint.com. It seems that all of the LTE devices are going to be ridiculously priced for no apparent reason.

That def could be the reason because the only different from the inspire is the radio. Unless the kickstand is made out of platinum, there is no other reason haha

For 700 they are going to lose so many sales with people who buy off contract. Though that probably isn't their concern.

And the thing is, they'll be able to get away with it. The average consumer is going to be coaxed into thinking that just because of LTE, suddenly that makes the phone worth the price tag. Obviously us forum goers will know better, but we're the minority. The carriers know that.

These will be the same people who thought that the iphone4 had 4G haha

Maybe the real reason is because 4G is not available every where yet so they cant charge us more for the 3G data plan. So they figure they will charge more for the phone even though 4G is not in your area yet. This is big red and they are here to make a profit!!!!!!

They most certainly could charge those of us who don't have 4G in our market for it anyway if they really wanted to. Sprint has been doing it (although, they claim it's supposedly not a 4G charge, which is BS).

Sprint's charge was more like a mandatory donation to attempt developing a bigger 4G network. It didn't work so now that $10 charge is a mandatory donation to save them from a poorly made choice.

I just wonder if you can buy a verizon lte phone off contract and just use it for 3G (if/when verizon decides to raise there prices). It would be dumb if they did the same thing as sprint and make 4g plans mandatory on devices capable of 4G

Why buy a 4G device if you're not planning on using the 4G service?

Because why party a premium charge for a higher data transfer rate when you don't need it. If I want a phone that has the best specs and had 4G, I might not use the 4g.

Why buy a mustang gt 500 if your not going to drive 130 miles per hour?

But on the other hand.....it is like buying an HDTV when there was not service in your area.....oh well I am sold, 4G or not....Can not wait to get my Bionic and get rid of my Fascinate....
