Release Date?

Just got off the phone with Sprint, and though I have nothing new release date wise, a new possible reason for the delay did come up in the conversation. Remember, this is unconfirmed as yet, but here is the idea:

Google is releasing Android v2.4 sometime in May. The phones may already HAVE Android 2.4 on them, and Sprint may not be allowed to release them until 2.4 is finished baking. Intriguing idea is it not?

Also, the original Nexus S came out with regular DDR memory, and the Nexus S 4G has DDR 2 memory for RAM, and the 16 gig ROM is attached to the motherboard via mini USB 3.0 (better than 1 gigabit per second). The original Nexus ROM was connected with mini USB 2.0 (Max 480 megabit per second). Pretty big hardware differences.

Thought you guys would be interested.

That is pretty big... I wish Sprint would make some noise.

I have the evo4g and nexus one. The screen colors and resolution on evo4g looks terrible compared to the nexus one.. and the nexus s is even better with SAMOLED. The evo4g has ~ 65K colors vs nexus s display with ~ 16 Million colors. If you ever compare the two side by side it makes a big difference

You have succeeded in voicing my opinion. What he said. Evo looks washed out compared to the Nexus.

I had been thinking about jumping ship to t-mobile and getting the new G2x. I went to the t-mobile store to check it out and play with it. Next to it was the Galaxy S 4G. Big mistake if they want to sell the G2x. The screen on the Galaxy S is so much nicer. So yeah, I am just going to hold off and get the Nexus S when it finally comes to Sprint. My hero is on its last leg!

I also am stuck with the hero and can NOT wait to upgrade to the nexus s. I think i will just assume the worse.. June.. than be pleasantly surprised if it is released earlier. I still can not believe after nearly a month after pre-orders started we still dont have an official release date

My guess is there's a supply issue because of the quake and subsequent tsunami, but who knows? Maybe it's got a few bugs that need to be worked out.

Wouldn't be surprised if it had to do with the Google Voice integration still being tested. Sprint probably wants to sell the phone as a 'package' with Google Voice right away.

(sung slightly off key but to the beat) Nobody knows the release date it seems....
Nobody knows.... my sorrow....

I just go this response from Sprint: "Jamie, What we have heard so far that it will be released by Spring-Summer." -Kim

ok, if that's true, this sucks! I'll just wait for the Evo 3d then. Guess I should look harder for an evo to tide me over, I've about had it with this Pre. They really need to make an announcement of some kind soon.

If it falls in Summer, then Sprint should say some kind of info regrading this delay. Lot of people placed money down. For what? No information!! Can't get refund back!!!!

Yeah looks like May 8. Must have been the Google voice integration holding things up afterall. Good call to the ones who brought that up!

May 8th... Another 18 Day waiting period... sigh... But @ least we should be grateful for a date..

Bitter Sweet..

Been waiting for the Nexus S for some time in order to switch to Sprint.
I recently took advantage of the $125 smart phone credit and got an Arrive last week.

Can anyone answer this question for me?...
If I were to return the arrive and activate a craigslist evo, will I be eligable to get a new 2 year contract price for the Nexus S when it arrives, even if it is after 30 days since line activation?

From what I understand, I will still get the $125 credit, because that is tied to the line/plan and not the phone.

thanks
