Well the Charge is back on rotation on the landing page for Verizon, not that means anything these days.

it's on their website too..i hope that is a good sign.

I went to Target's web site and went through the purchasing process. At the end it had a link about the pre-order process. I do not know if this was there before. If this is a recent change it may mean the release is near, who knows.

Now on to check Costco and Wallyworld.

Update: Costco does not list it and Wallyworld does.

So my brother wants this for his birthday...I may go check out a Verizon store or something and beat a rep until they give it to me.

Today the Charge is not in the rotation on the landing page for Verizon, bummer:(

It also is not listed anywhere on the Verizon site like it was before, unless I am looking in the wrong place.

It says coming soon on the LTE layout page

Thanks, I did not look at the LTE link.

What if there is another reason for the delay besides the 4G network? Apple has filed a lawsuit against Samsung for patent infringements. It may state they want Samsung to suspend production on the Charge until a ruling has been made. Also Samsung is a large supplier for hardware to Apple. The plot thickens.

they can't do that , if that was the case nothing from apple or any company would get to market. These companies cross sue each other on a daily basis.

I think its more a verizon thing seems like everything between Samsung and Verizon is a fiasco. Look how long it took to get us the Froyo update with the fascinate.

If there's any truth to the Apple thing, it should be quite interesting. The real question is what happens regarding the infringements. If Apple wins, would Samsung be ballsy enough to cut hardware supplies to Apple? It could put Apple in a bind short term but long term, I think it would screw Samsung more as that's not a bad device to have your product in.

I presume it's about TouchWiz and not hardware things themselves. Otherwise, shouldn't they just postpone sales of the guilty phones? But if it is TouchWiz, shouldn't all Samsung phones be guilty?

We'll see what comes of it. I love having software patents struck down.

I think we will never find out why Verizon put a hold on selling the Droid Charge. My guess is it could probably due with limited quantity. I called a local store and they said they have only a handful in stock.

I don't think quantity has anything to do with it. You don't have to worry about not having enough if you don't sell them.

If it matters for the past 2 weeks my local store has had the charge banners and 2 charges on display. I stopped in on the way to work this morning and everything is gone. No banners, NO display phones.

Asked the guy that works there and said the store manager was instructed to take everything down. He said they have a bunch in the back room but instructed to make no mention of the charge unless a customer asks about it, and state I'ts been delayed and there is no further information available.

YEA......

Sounds like the legal battle may have something to do with it then. This is terrible.

Please be careful in what/how you say things. The lawsuit was SPECULATION that was posted in a prior thread. It said:
"What if there is another reason for the delay besides the 4G network? Apple has filed a lawsuit against Samsung for patent infringements. "

Everyone is starting to assume that the delay is now because of a lawsuit, when it more than likely about the network and the issues.

Why are the displays pulled and reps not allowed to talk about it? Two words: DAMAGE CONTROL. You dont want to keep building hype and draw attention around a potentially problematic device/platform! Keep it out of sight until it is ready for consumer use and it keeps the "bad word" from getting spread around more. Its easier to hide the existance of the device to unkowing consumers than to tell them "yeah, we have that but you cant buy it yet for a reason I can not tell you". That just makes them look bad! They have a lot at stake with the new 4G network. If there really is a problem with the network in general they surely want to get it fixed before they continue to saturate it more with new phones.

My .02 it is probably the network issue. And getting rid of any shred of evidence that the charge is avail is good for the people who do not hit refresh on this page 60 times a day. Like you said. Its not like Verizon wants to sit on a few thousand phones when they could be selling them. They did not wake up on the 28th and say. Hey lets %^&@ with our customers tell them this new phone is coming out today. Then cancel it on them.

but it would have been nice to have some time of explanation but its not good business for them to say our LTE network could not handle more LTE devices at this time. The other 3 would love to read that.

my store still had banners up this am...and i think it's a software issue. some people who did them had problems going in and out of 4g coverage. verizon has not told anyone to ship the units back and the network works fine with mi fi and thunderbolt devices.

Well said and I will be more careful with my words. However, if it was related to the network, I think Verizon would have said something by now. They stated that the network has been up in running two days after it was brought down. Furthermore, if it was network related, I think they would have probablly stopped selling all 4G devices such as the thunderbolt and usb modems if it was a serious network issue.

Who'd a thunk when they announced the delay it would take this long.
This week ain't looking great.

Its not looking good for the Charge to be launched tomorrow. See link below.

Motorola DROID X 2, LG Revolution, and HTC Trophy release date rumored to be May 12 - Phone Arena

It is a rumor, but the Charge is not listed as one of the VZW phones to launch on May 12:(
