Removing or disabling samsung dex

After completing an update on my galaxy s8 my phone now automatically reverts to the samsung dex program when i connect it via HDMI to my tv. How can I stop this from happening? I have already tried to force stop It in app settings.

Settings -> Connections -> More Connection Settings -> HDMI mode -> Screen Mirroring
This makes it work like it did before DEX!

Thanks. This has been driving me nuts. There was never any explanation of why DEX was added. Nor were there any instructions as to how to use it.
