Reset pattern code when "Forgot Password" does not appear

Please help! We bought our daughter the Moto E 2nd generation and she somehow set a pattern code and doesn't know what she did. We have tried a million different patterns but the "Forgot Password" never appears. How can we access it?

I would try logging into your Google Account on a PC and then go to Android Device Manager (https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager). From there you can setup a new password and GPS/Locate your device.
