Reset s7 before sending to asurion?

Had a s7 that got stuck on boot loop. Would always freeze and keep restarting. safe mode and soft reset did not work. Seems like a software/motherboard issue I was able to do a wipe from recovery mode. Then it restarted and thought it was setting up a new phone. Saw some articles that said the wipe isn't that great. Should I be concerned some data could get in someone else's possession if phone is refurbed?

Could? Yes. Asurion doesn't have enough employees to check for data on incoming phones. Either your phone will be reflashed and used as a refurb and sent to someone else (reflashing it wipes everything that's on it now), or if it can't be reflashed it gets scrapped. (The gold on the contacts is worth money if you have a few thousand phones and don't care about air, ground and water pollution in China.)
