[Retired][ROM]Superclean 2.9.2 EA15/EB01/EB16/EC10 Based

Ugh...

Ugh for the life of me it will never let me update in clockworkmod 3.0 ( orange ). Do I always have to update via clockworkmod 2.5 ( red )?

yes. Adrynalyne's .zip files don't use the script required for 3.0 because it was causing issues.

Forgive the question, phone won't wake up

Hey guys!
Please forgive me for asking this, as I KNOW it's in the forums somewhere. Heck if I can find it though, as I wasn't having the problem and now I am! UGH!

Anyway, I decided to try a SC ROM, build 2.9. I flashed it last night and all day today, when my phone would go to sleep for any length of time, it would NOT wake up. I'd have to pull the battery. I know it was doing SOMETHING when it got stuck, as the battery went almost completly dead in the time it was "off".

I tried flashing the 2.9.1 patch tonight to see if that would help. It did not!

Any suggestions? Do I need to just start over? And if so, what should be my process?

Thanks in advance ya'll!

Bruce

Flash of theme. This is commonly known as "sleep of death". Adryn does not know what is really at the root of causing this, but flashing a theme seems to fix it.

I see that... But I can't get the phone to boot into red. I did the CWM-ALL file and tried to boot into red through removing the battery and getting into recovery like that, I tried through ROM Manager, and I tried w/ the option below when you turn your phone off. So I figured, I'll just flash to CWM Red through ROM Manager. No luck there either. It keeps saying an error has occurred... Is it better off just removing ROM Manager? So far it's done nothing for me. I've had to flash each time through ODIN. I'd love to flash through my phone just once. /rant :)

You can flash through your phone using clockwork. If you plan on using the SuperClean ROMs you might as well just uninstall ROM Manager as it'll be no use to you. Uninstall it, then flash the cwm-all file and you should boot directly into red with no errors every time you boot into recovery. If you want to flash a ROM on your phone you can do so then using cwm. I believe Landshark has a link in his signature on how to do so and I posted the directions as well a few pages back I think.

Ok, I tried flashing Stealth 1.1 from the forums. I downloaded it to my SD card, used CWM to flash it, but nothing has changed. My phone is still on the previous theme (SC 2.9.1) I tried wiping Davlik Cache and it didn't help...still on previous theme.

I'd appreciate any assistance.

You don't necessarily have to remove rom manager if you don't really want to, just don't touch it or use it for now. You don't boot into red by pulling the battery. That is how you get into download mode to flash tar and bin files, which will usually be a what is known as a modem or radio through ODIN. You get into recovery one of two ways: 1) hold the power button for about 2 seconds and choose recovery from the menu that pops up; or 2) hold the volume up, volume down, and power buttons until you see the samsung logo flash twice. As soon as you see samsung for the second time, let go of all three buttons. The first method is obviously the easier of the two and unless the phone is off, that's how I boot to recovery. So you need to flash the CWM-all file in ODIN, then after that you will be able to boot directly to red clockworkmod recovery (cwm.) You use cwm to flash zip files which would be ROMs, themes, patches, and add-ons. For step by step instructions on how to flash zip files through cwm start with my instructions in post #14 on page 2 of this thread http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...answer-phone-when-receiving-calls-rooted.html and then follow the step by step instructions in the link in my signature.

Excellent! Thank you guys. I've been using Super Clean since 2.6. But the only reason I used ROM Manager was for backups. I forgot you can do that in Recovery too lol.

Are you going to be sticking with sc 2.6? If so I will need to give you a different set of directions for getting into cwm and different files to install.

Nope. Started with 2.6, then I went to 2.8 by flashing CWM-ALL through ODIN then rebooting straight into Red, and now I'm on 2.9 by removing ROM Manager, flashing CWM-ALL through ODIN again, making a backup, then flashing 2.9. Oddly enough, I've never done any type of wipe and I've had no issues.

whenever i flash a theme i always wipe the cache partition AND the dalvik cache and ive never had a problem. unless the theme isnt compatable with the rom.

sc 2.9.1 is not a theme, it is the ROM or operating system of your phone if you will. The theme is just a visual enhancement that overlays the ROM. You should be fine now. Go to the themes thread, click on the developers name for Stealth, that will take you to the developers original thread for the theme and there should be some screenshots. Does your notification bar look like the one in the pictures? Hit the menu soft key. Does the menu window that pops up on the bottom of your screen look like the one in the pictures? If so you successfully flashed the theme and that should fix your sleep of death problem.

Fantastic! You are one of the lucky ones who has had no troubles despite not wiping at all. It would be a good idea to wipe cache partition and dalvik cache while you are in cwm to flash 2.9 anyway. It won't hurt anything and those wipes do not wipe your data at all, so you won't lose anything.

Hey Landshark!
What I meant was I had flashed the ROM 2.9.1 and was on the same visualizations. I didn't see any screen shots for the menu options on this new theme. I was just going by how my wallpaper, icons and everythng ...

OH! Never mind. I jsut re-read what you said...and looked at the notification area and those icons. It is the same as this guy's theme. So, I should be good!

Thanks, Shark!! I'll keep my fingers crossed and we'll see what happens tomorrow!

Much obliged to everyone!!

Quick question (please bear with me as i am new to rooting):

I first rooted my phone to the EB01 (Stock Froyo), then flashed thru Odin to SC 2.4 and then a couple of minutes ago went to SC 2.8

Rebooted my phone and noticed a lot of changes I like.. I am curious about all the talk about Clockwork stuff and updating zips off the sd card. Am i missing important things by just using Odin? The reason I ask is all i have done is plug my phone without the battery and hold the volume down button and get the yellow triangle. I hit PDA in Odin and when its done I put the battery back in and power up. My phone has worked every time and i have noticed all the changes between the 3 ones i have done.

So am i skipping a step or did i do everything right?
