[Retired][ROM]Superclean 2.9.2 EA15/EB01/EB16/EC10 Based

Now, kernals... it's just not clicking.
The kernal is the thing that makes the ROM run? I need a visual... is this like an interpreter, say, or a bridge between apps and the OS? How do I choose a kernal? What is considered best? What do I have now vs. what is available and why?

Most all the new kernels coming out are voodoo stuff. I assume you are nonvoodoo. I would say stand pat for now and when you get the gumption to go voodoo then go for it. The floodgates have opened up for voodoo kernels now.

ok so i flashed the new times_Infinity non voodoo kernel last night, charged phone all night. took phone off charger at 10AM its now 3:15 and im at 25%!! im open to non voodoo suggestions on what to do. The battery is killing me!

ive read all of it, but thought if i swapped kernels that would take care of the problem, new problem i now have blue Clockwork what up with that?

On that kernel? nope, haven't tried it yet. I'm still running Adrynalyn's kernel, which is boss btw

7am - 3pm with heavy usage I'm still at 80% charge

Okay, days of reading. My brain is mush.

Please clarify:
Two weeks ago I flashed EB16SC29_DXC.tar through Odin.
I am superclean, bloatware free, froyo goodness.
A few days later I patched 2.9.1 through CWM.
The next day 2.9.2 was released so I patched that as well, repeating the process from the first patch.

So if I understand correctly, my ROM, which is my phone's operating system, is superfrankenclean 2.92.

Now, kernals... it's just not clicking.

Thanks. I want to understand the whys behind the whats. I know I can flash now. I know I can root. Now I want DNA details.

:D Yay!

Read Sheepdog Elite's beginner's thread HERE it explains all of it. The kernel is just the basic building block of the ROM. It's the foundation the entire ROM is built from. And to help you with some of the language because I remember you saying previously you weren't sure if you were using the right language, but wanted to learn:

2.9.1 was just a patch that went over 2.9. 2.9.1 was only about 15MB in size, so it is a patch. The full superclean ROMs are usually somewhere around 130MB. 2.9.2 is a full ROM so you didn't patch 2.9.2, you flashed it. Installing something, no matter what is called flashing. Doesn't matter whether you do it though ODIN or CWM, it is still called flashing. So you flashed 2.9 through ODIN if I remember correctly, then you flashed the 2.9.1 patch in cwm, then you flashed 2.9.2 also in cwm. Make a little more sense? Definitely give Sheepdog's thread a thorough study, there's a ton of good info in there that should help you understand.

So it's just because it's a hacked ROM basically? That I can live with... I figured out that the power button silences calls, so I can just use that with the AOSP screen. I really hate hitting the hang up option, because that sends it straight to voicemail, letting the caller know I didn't want to talk to them, unlike ignore where it seems like I'm just not there. Hopefully when our official Froyo comes out these minor problems will get solved.

Nope, first thing I did was mess with the lock settings.

No, it's not because it's a hacked ROM. The 5 lockscreens is a mod (short for modification) that Adrynalyne incorporated into superclean and quite a few devs have incorporated into their themes. Sbrissen designed the AOSP and rotary locks to be able to unlock the screen by touching the menu button when the screen is on and locked.

Both imnuts and times_infinity have released nonvoodoo kernels based on the latest voodoo releases, so you get the benefit of an undervolted kernel, but don't have to switch to voodoo or mess with disabling voodoo lag fix in cwm. You won't get the sound and color enhancements of the voodoo kernels, but you should see better battery life. You can find the nonvoodoo kernels in post #4 of Jaekar99's Themes thread HERE

something weird just happened flashed the CWM in odin when came back on heard some weird woman voice like robot on phone wont stop being on samusung screen what happened? Need help says something "sytem partion system not available"

If u have it handy can u give me a link i cant find it thanks. also flash in blue clockwork or odin? thanks

When you are in red cwm do not touch apply sdcard:update.zip at all. Don't even acknowledge it is there. If you have done anything in rom manager, treat it like update.zip, don't touch it at all either. These are the only two ways I know of to get blue recovery back. That or flashing a version of superclean lower than 2.9

thanks! so any clue about the battery situation?

Are you leaving wifi and GPS off when you are not using them? Make sure you do that. Do you have the brightness on your phone set to auto? If not either do that or turn the brightness down. Do you have any task killers on your phone? If so get rid of them. The are battery hogs and actually make your phone work in a way it is not supposed to. Check what apps and widgets you may have that may be running all the time. These are all likely culprits of sucking down your battery.

Whch kernel did you flash? You flashed a voodoo kernel and didn't disable voodoo lag fix. When the phone boots up, hold the power button for about 2 seconds until the menu pops up and choose recovery. When you get to red cwm scroll down to voodoo, hit the power button, scroll to disable lag fix, hit the power button, when the text in the middle of the screen changes to next reboot will be disabled, hit the menu soft key once, the hit the power button to reboot your phone.

im getting forced loops of doom! i never flashed a voodoo kernal im in blue revcovery for some reason says convert system partiion s mins check private msg pls
