Ok, I'm completely lost. How did you get from installing voodoo to now flashing some unknown thing in ODIN to now flashing sc 2.9 so quickly? Please share all of your steps here so anyone else who does the same thing can learn from your experience. That is part of the whole point of these forums, sharing information so everyone can learn.

ha ha sorry land shark for the confusion


1. download this package from droidxcon "EB16SC28_DXC.tar" it was non voodo and sc2.8

2. i used pda button and put my phone in download mode and ran odin to restore my phone back to non-voodo superlcean 2.8

3. rebooted my phone to verify that it can reboot. and saw the cool honeycomb boot animation

4. copied the ROM: Non voodoo super_frankenclean_2_9nv.zip from Adrynalyne to the root of my SD card

5. powered off my phone and booted into recovery "hold down both volume button and power till samsung logo reappears and was taken to a blue recovery screen

6. selected apply update.zip to take me into red clockwork mod and selected "install .zip from sd card" located the update for SC 2.9 and installed it.

7. rebooted my phone via clockwork mod and successfully nstalled 2.9 on my fascinate.

Thanks for sharing. I learned something there too about going from voodoo to nonvoodoo. You definitely have it down pat on how to flash things to your phone both through ODIN and cwm. And not correcting, just reminding.

yup, just make sure you download the nonvoodoo version.

personally I'd avoid rom manager and just install via cwm. What are you wanting to flash?

well i wanted to try a "build your own blackhole rom" i have it all download on my sd card but its just a buch of .zip files

the rom is based of the eb01

Not to be a crybaby, but why is the EB16 (or wherever it came from) Email.apk being included with this ROM (which has a broken signature setting) instead of the Email.apk from EB01 that works great? I was able to edit the zip package to head off the clock and launcher stuff (i prefer the real deal as opposed to the thin AOSP fluff) but forgot about the email.apk and as such my settings were torched after going from 2.8 to 2.9. Not a big deal, it would just be nice if that bug were finally kicked out for good.

My thoughts exactly. I was going to say PM me so we don't clutter up Adrynalynes' thread. Thanks for all the help PJnc284. Decaydance99, when you start the thread maybe title it something to the effect of asking the differences between rom manager and cwm. I don't think there is a thread out there like that, and we just have to make sure we all stay on point of what the differences are and not turn it into a bash rom manager thread.

No, it requires the "edify" package type whereas the 2.9 zip is "amend" type. Whatever that means. I tried it and it didnt do jack. Just flash the "CWM-recovery-ALL.tar" via odin and you are all set.

I release superclean in two versions currently, voodoo and non voodoo. It includes recovery kernels for both. These roms support clockwork recovery 3.0 ONCE INSTALLED. They cannot be installed with CWR 3.0, due to serious issues I had with Edify scripting. This goes with the patches as well. Some, if not all of this probably stems from the fact that we are using BML partitions, while the rest of the sane world uses MTD. It may also be that I need an update binary from Samsung and not Google. I'll have to investigate that.
