hmm...if it's still installing something isn't right. Sounds like something is wrong with the zip. Only method now is probably pull and pray and see if it'll boot back up and then redownload the file and find the original zip. I'd wait until someone confirms that interrupting the install won't fry anything though.

i am as we speak, i guess safari auto unzips files when you download them so i fixed that, i dont think using a mac to put it on my sd card, or unzipping the file then rezipping it would be a problem when trying to instal would it?

Not completely sure. If you have wifi access, you can try downloading it in the phone browser itself. Should save it under a download or downloads folder on the sd card.

I just Flashed SC 2.8 and i want to put TW Music Player (eb01) on. I downloaded the file and its in a .zip whats the next step step for installing this..im sure i have to put it on the SD card at some point. I have Root Explorer do i use that?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you and anyone else who reads these posts do not think I am telling everyone to absolutely not try switching to voodoo. Just want to throw the info and caveat out there so everyone is informed, prepared, and can make the best decision that suits their needs and desires. Gunnermike53 is an outstanding resource for anything voodoo, as is Sheepdog Elite.

Were you trying to download from the browser? There have been issues downloading from the browser so Adrynalyne has a link in the first post of this thread for the EB01 debinged browser. Download that to your sd card and flash it through cwm to hopefully correct the download problem.

Flashed the debinged browser, and it seemed to speed up the browser substantially, however, didn't fix my "unsuccesful download" problem. Have tried both Stock Browser and Dolphin HD. Should I try the Think Free Office Patch, would that do anything different than downloading the Think Free Office (TFO) app from the market?

It may also be worth mentioning that When the file goes to the download screen, the symbol, if I recall on eclair was a TFO icon, but now it appears to be an icon with a gear and a notecard behind it (utility icon maybe?)

Thanks Andrynalyne. This version is great as well. I am seeing a significant speed improvement over 2.8. I also greatly enjoy the new skin on the text messaging screens. Any chance in a future update you could skin the default calendar application to look the same? Thanks again for all you do for us!

Ok i put the zip on the root of SD and am in recovery but the only zip showing in recovery is update.zip...does it only allow you to have one zip on SD at a time?

You can have more than one zip. Follow my instructions in the post above yours. I understand that not everyone has done this before and "put it on your sd card and flash it in recovery" does not help someone who has never done it before. That's why I took the time to lay out step by step instructions. Follow my steps and see if that helps. Let me know how it goes.

Not to be a crybaby, but why is the EB16 (or wherever it came from) Email.apk being included with this ROM (which has a broken signature setting) instead of the Email.apk from EB01 that works great? I was able to edit the zip package to head off the clock and launcher stuff (i prefer the real deal as opposed to the thin AOSP fluff) but forgot about the email.apk and as such my settings were torched after going from 2.8 to 2.9. Not a big deal, it would just be nice if that bug were finally kicked out for good.

So, will there any concern or issue when updating to SC 2.9, or is this issue easily resolved by a modification to a file before or after installing 2.9? If there is a modification, could that please be laid out, or is there a patch for recovery?

Hey briguyy, now that Adrynalyne included the cwm-recovery-all with 2.9, you will not need update.zip. When you got to red cwm did you have the white bitmap error messages on the screen? If so, plug the phone back in with debugging on, and get to the root of the sd card the same way, delete update.zip from you sd card, then flash this MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service in ODIN. Then you will boot directly to the correct red cwm without having to go through blue and hitting apply sdcard:update.zip. If the red you booted to earlier did not have the white bitmap error messages, just go in and delete update.zip and you will be good to go.

Thanks all for being patient.. this is new to me, and I don't want to brick my phone. I'm on call for a hospital here and there and don't want to go without my phone

1. You have the right one. Disregard the voodoo portion. We are all using the same cwm. Can you tell me whether or not your red cwm has the white bitmap error messages and have you booted directly to red or did you have to go through blue first?

2. Yes you can just flash it like a patch or a theme. I did not do a cache or dalvik wipe before flashing 2.9 and have had no problems.
