[Review] Seidio Innocase Active Limited Edition

My Sage Active Limited Edition arrived today. Fits great and I'm not having any difficulty w/ the power button or volume rockers. It does *not* have the modified 'extra piece' on the inside over the power button like the regular Active does, but like I say - no issue at all pressing it.

Love the new case!! :D

I am patiently waiting on mine. It was shipped today. Is the Sage a darker color than it looks like on the website?

Got my not limited Active case today. The blue definitely looks different than pictured on their site, it's a lot darker. It does approach the color pictured though in direct sunlight. The fit is pretty good although since the hard part doesn't really snap into place anywhere on this phone, there are slight gaps on every corner of the phone that can be closed when pressing those parts of the phone together. I wish there was a snapping mechanism, but, it does seem sturdy enough and it's not going to fall off by itself.

The Holster seems to work quite well too. The phone seems reasonably secure in there and it is very easy to remove. With the Bodyglove leather case that I was using together with the Innocase Surface II, it took quite some doing to get the phone out of the leathe case, and you had to be careful to not drop it or scratch something on the screen when removing it. It's much easier with the holster. The one thing that bugs me though is there is just a bit less of a secure feel, but that's to be expected with a holster versus a leather side case.

It really makes up for it though in feel. It feels very good in the hand and it really doesn't seem to make the phone much thicker than the Innocase II did. It also feels very solid, no more looseness as was found with the Innocase II, and no squeaking either!

Like I said, these are just initial impressions, I am going to have my first full day of work with this case on the phone tomorrow and I will update if I change my mind about anything.

Well just to post a few more info, now that I've had my case quite a while...

I currently have the Seidio Active Limited Edition - Black case on my Evo
1) The silicon parts do not come off as some have suggested, however I never place the phone in my jeans pocket. Only when wearing dress pants so perhaps it's the 'tightness' that causes people to have that effect?

2) Protection - I can't speak to much about dropping , as I've only dropped the phone once, luckily on carpet. No ill effects but probably would have been safe without the case in that instance. It HAS saved my phone from any and all scratches from sliding it across the desk, fast food restaurants etc..

3) Cleaning.. About once every other week, I remove the entire case, run it under warm soapy water and dry it. Just to get rid of the fingerprints/oil that build up. Occasionally I'll wipe the back with glass cleaner, after I'm done cleaning the screen :) The phone looks brand new when outside the case, not a single scratch on it. (Of course it's only 90 days old.. but still).

4) Camera lens has no scratches that I can see , and I'm always putting it screen up so it holds up pretty well and just enough off the desk that I feel I'll never have an issue.

My only complaint has been the power button. Even after 3 months it's not broken in enough to use without my home made 'mod'. (I cut a tiny square from a business card, the same size as the indent above the power button, and place it inside to give the button a bit more leverage. Occasionally I forget about it when cleaning the phone and it's very easily missed when trying to turn on/off the phone.

I was a bit saddened to hear the Sage color on Amazon was not as bright as the picture (I love that neon green look), and was about to purchase a Burgundy one when I noticed there are TWO new colors on amazon today, all in stock!

So that brings the Active Limited edition cases to:
Sapphire Blue
Burgundy
Sage Green (Olive dark color, better representation on the picture on the holster combo )
Black
and now...
Pearl White ( Amazon.com: Seidio Innocase Active Case for HTC EVO 4G - Limited Edition (Pearl White): Cell Phones & Service )
Amethyst ( Amazon.com: Seidio Innocase Active Case for HTC EVO 4G - Limited Edition (Amethyst): Cell Phones & Service )

I think I'll pick up a white one, hopefully it doesn't get too 'dirty' over time.

I just got the Active (non-limited) yesterday and I like it so far. The case seems very sturdy and the fit is great.

The only complaint is the same as the others on this thread... the left side feels like its not secure and will slide off BUT it doesn't come off unless I pull it off.

I guess I just wish that it was on a bit tighter OR had some type of notch to hold it in place like the volume rocker does on the right side.

Well I got my White Innocase Active Limited Edition today and as my Black one it looks great and fit perfectly.

It's only a few hours old so I cannot comment on how dirty it might get, but I noticed it doesn't seem to show any fingerprints or oil from your hand as my black one did, that's a plus.

I also went ahead and picked up two other 'cheapie' cases just to try them out...
These are cheap knock-off types from China sold on Amazon:
Amazon.com: For HTC EVO 4G Hard Fish Bone Soft Case RED BLACK: Electronics

And they are CHEAP! Horrible fit, and no where as good as the Seido ones. The silicon bunches up and even leaves gaps in places, especially along the bottom. Though they are 1/3 the price, I'd stay away from these models. (I tried 2 different colors to be sure it wasn't just 1 bad unit).

The one item I LIKED about them, is the silicon came with 2 little tabs, one at the top and bottom, to cover the Headphone port and the power ports. They probably would break over time as they are held in place by a tiny piece of silicon, but they did seem to protect the ports better than the Seidio which has no protection at all.

That's all the cases I'm buying I think, 5 in 3 months is enough :0

My review of the Seidio Innocase Active.
Phone: EVO 4G
Case Color: Burgundy

I used to have a Blackberry with the some of the Innocase cases (the Innocase II & the 360) which I liked and since I recently just got my EVO, I figured I'd give Seidio's latest creation a try. I bought the case + the holster the material seems pretty good. I was a bit disappointed with the rubber part because the top & bottom part that's not covered with the skeleton part is kinda flimsy. I was hoping the rubber was more stiff but I guess I was mistaking it for the bendable gelli plastic that feels kinda rubberish. Also, when if any of your settings has the vibration function on, the case absorbs some of vibration so you might not notice your phone alerts if its on your pocket or what not. The holster (for those who care) was a little disappointing as well. The Blackberry snap holster I'm familiar with had a locking switch to secure it to make sure your phone stays in place, this holster doesn't have it which is kinda strange because the holster made for the Rugged case has that locking mechanism. The rubber part the covers the top also peels back sometimes when I try to snap the phone into the holster, I would need to lift the snap lock up first, then place the phone in. I've had this case for a week and I haven't notice any paint chips or anything like some of the other users been experiencing but if it does, not really gonna matter to me because if it does its job and takes the beatings I throw at it, its all good.

Pros:
Rugged case that can take a beating.
Isn't too thick.
Rubber inside body doesn't scratch the phone.
Has access to all ports.
(Optional) The holster does it job.

Cons:
Rubber is form-fitting but a little too flimsy for my tastes.
Could've wished the skeleton part covered the top and bottom part.
Case absorbs some of the vibration intensity.
Kinda pricey.
(Optional) Holster doesn't have the lock feature some of its other holster has.

Rating: B

Just in case anyone is wondering and missed my other post about this topic, the horizontal leather case Seidio sells for the Innocase Surface II fits the Active case just fine. It's pricy, but offers much better protection than the holster which I already broke.

I have the non-limited Active Innocase and holster.

It came off my belt and fell on the concrete yesterday. About a three foot drop and it landed on the corner!

I was horrified, but to my relief it survived the fall! :D

My case and holster are both scratched up, but the EVO is safe and sound!

i just bought my second one of these Active X cases after i broke the tip off the bottom corner of the original one i bought over a year ago. i'm very very very happy with how this case has performed and plan on getting another one if offered for my next EVO "HD".

where is pingpongboy?
