Got a Rezound today. Prior to this, I was using an HTC Droid Incredible. Are HTC cables universal, such that I can use my Incredible cables with the Rezound? They look to be the same shaped ends, but there are small differences. I don't want to do any damage by trying to slide a cable into the port that is not made to go in there. Thanks.

No problems using the power cables from my old D-1. I think you'll be fine.

Yes...Android phones do not use proprietary hardware. They should all be interchangeable.

The weird ends are HDMI MHL ports, which is like a normal Micro-usb plus more. The ports themselves are compatible...I use my Droid 1 charger to charge my Rezound just fine. No adapter needed.

Indeed you can use either cable! Relief, I was charging it today and it hit me that the charger looks like a different size so I wouldn't be able to rely on going to someones house and using their charger lol thanks god its the same!:p

Technically some of the HTC phones use (or at least used to) use a proprietary connector called the HTC ExtUSB, but it is an extension of the mini-usb and you can use standard mini-usb for it.

Micro USB charging cables for most Android phones are interchangeable. I've used chargers from the original Motorola Droid, Droid X, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus to charge various phones (and a Nook Color) from various manufacturers. If you're ever looking on Amazon for a spare chargers for the office or travel, try searching for other brands, not just your particular phone. I've picked them up on Amazon for as little as $3 and they work perfectly.

And 500ma is the normal charging power. There are 800ma and 1000ma chargers out there. I'm going back to my optimus forums now.

Don't waste your money on getting chargers from Amazon or anywhere. Monoprice.com has all sorts of cables at actual prices, not super inflated crap Best Buy and most other retailers charge.

The Rezound comes with a 5V/1A charger. I strongly recommend using one with simlar specs. You can use one at lower amperage, but it will charge slower.

I agree about Monoprice for cables, but I couldn't find any good USB wall chargers there.

I thought my HTC Amaze's charge cable end was kind of sloppy until I plugged a conventional micro-USB plug into a warranty replacement phone ... and it wiggled around a bit. My HTC-supplied cable's square shape and bottom notch seems to make it more stable. I have pics of HTC's and AmazonBasics' cables on AMZN.

Now ... how to find another HTC cable without busting the bank or falling prey to the many retailers who will lie about selling "HTC OEM" cables...?

FYI, 500mA charging current is standard for USB data ports (like on computers). AC chargers are cabable of providing 1000mA (or more, in the case of Apple and Amazon Kindle), and my HTC Amaze takes 1000mA.

While it is true that there are many chargers capable of charging more than 1A, the Rezound will only accept 1A charge. I plugged in my Android HP TouchPad tablet charger which is 2A and my Rezound only charges to near 1A similar to the stock charger.

Does anyone know where to get a factory rezound charger or data cable? Micro usb will probably damage port eventually. I really like how secure the htc charge cable holds it in place. I have looked but cannot find one. Some claim it is a rezound cable, but actually are just a micro usb. Would like an extra to plug into my 1 amp car usb charging plug.

I tried some generic cables and they seemed to charge fine, but the data to my PC didn't work. It said something about invalid USB drive. When I use the factory cable, data and charging are both fine. I wonder if the cable characteristic impedance is very well controlled or if there is something else particular about this cable.

I contacted Verizon and also some HTC stores and no one seems to sell that particular HTC cable.

If you find one of the "real" cables, please let us know where you got it.

Thanks!

My original rezound cable is sitting in the drawer. Haven't even looked at it in three weeks. I have so many micro USB cables I don't need it. They almost all fit just well as the original.
