Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

Exit the browser to the home screen, lag. What is clueless about that? screen goes black for 2 secs., get real.

Oh wow. I see what you mean. This thing is ridiculously slow. I just tried going to the home screen from the browser and it took 0.1 seconds. That's 0.1 seconds of my life i won't get back because of this stupid phone. Why does HTC think they can advertise speed when it's obviously not there?

And this screen is ridiculously pixelated for an hd screen. I'm using this pixelated wallpaper as my wallpaper and it looks ridiculously pixelated. Ridiculously. I thought HD would smooth it out to make it smoother pixels? Wtf?

If that is a fact. Then mine is defective cuz it blacks out one hell of a lot longer than .01 secs. I don't have many gripes w/ the Rezound but that is one. If yours did what this one does when exiting the browser, you'd see my point. I'm not sure why you'd bring the screen or speed into this cuz I sure as ish said nada about it, it's fast and it's gorgeous but it has not been completely buttery smooth exiting some apps. There are a few things that seem to be less than crisp on my Rezound. Certainly, not enough to make me return it. So take a chill pill & calm down. Maybe try a laxative and get rid of some those spliners, bro. They're obviously agitating the hell out of you.

What seems to irritate me is the fact that im not calling a winner. I continuously say they're both great. But some of you want to hear me say the Nexus is the clear winner and it simply is not. For starters, if it had a better camera, many of you would use that as a +, but since it doesn't you try to act as if smartphone cameras are irrelevant.

OP please just use youtube. or go to a store and play with the Rezound. You gonna get bias responses from both sides.

I honestly have never seen such a large group of people make excuses for something that should be viewed critically and harshly as you guys with the camera. Takes me back to the old iphone when everyone justified apple's decision to not include mms. You'd see thousands of posts from people proclaiming "mms is dead. Email is the way of the future". Then...2 yrs later apple includes mms in the 3gs and all of a sudden, it's cool and nobody has issues with it.And to this day, 4 years later, mms is still used widely so dead? Nu-uh

People overlook the smallest things because they like this or that so much and for whatever reason, admitting there's a flaw ruins the feeling you have with it. You see people here "Well, if i want to take pictures i'll use a dedicated camera" or "psh, i never take pics with a PHONE" like thats some crazy idea. Oh you don't? Great. At least admit that it's a flaw in the device instead of prancing around it like it's still the greatest phone in the world. The fact that it's got a subpar camera doesn't stop you from enjoying your "pure vanille google experience" does it? I'd rather people just not talk about the camera if it wasnt an issue for them than to go out of their way to justify or cover it up.

There is no greatest phone. There will never be a greatest phone. There will be great phones. Live with it and love them all. You can love yours without trashing others too

I understand the excitement, i just suggest you all keep your expectations reasonable. The phone will not be perfect. You WILL have tons of threads about bugs and alot of you will get replacements.

If it seemed like I was "trashing" the rezound, then my apologies. The rezound is a very nice device. But, the Galaxy Nexus is an overall superior device. The only areas that it is not superior is the camera and lack of sd card, that's it. That's all I was saying. I apologize to everyone for coming off the way that I did. I don't mean to piss people off which it appears that I did.

Meh

I have the Rezound, and I think it is a very good phone. My question was should I return it for the Galaxy Nexus based off of the 6 points I made in the original post. Please return to that first post and re-read the question. I have used YouTube to check out the Galaxy Nexus, but as I said in previous posts I don't put much weight in reviews from anyone who is paid to review a product. I put no weight in comments I get from people I identify as fanboys. If someone makes an objective comment I take great weight in that.

Surely there must be someone on androidcentral that can be objective in their review of a product???

Just to show what an objective review looks like, in reply to the "lag coming out of apps" comment, I would say my Rezound takes 0.5 seconds to back out of apps to get to the home screen, not 2 seconds and not 0.1 seconds. Launching the browser looks like it takes 0.1 seconds. Either way though, that's not a deciding factor for me as I'm sure the Nexus will lag in some areas too.

Agree 100% with both posts. Especially when you factor in preference....how in the world can there ever be 1 superior device, or one thats superior than the next when they are both similar? Preferences kills any device from being superior than another one, for recent phone anyway. Change a feature here n there on ALL these current phones and u basically have the same phone.

Ok...to the OP based on your points in your first post:

The first 3 can be a wash, with the option for extended batteries. Although over the past year....Moto and Samsung phones have seemed to have better battery life than HTC phones.

Issues with bloatware, get the G Nex.

Updates, the G Nex should be a winner here too. Although HTC has been better with updates than most manufactures....but the G Nex is a Nexus phone...

Build quality, can be a wash.

I have 2 definite in favor of the G Nex. Just based on your OP. The screens, preference. Only you can really decide what you like more. Camera...harder to say. But they should be close enough that it might not make too much of a difference. Unless the camera is at the top of your want, needs.

No lag whatsoever on mine... NONE! I want the GN, but if it didn't exist, the Rezound is the best phone on the market today. PERIOD! Of course this is just MY opinion... ;)

- I want the best phone available so that 2 years from now I still have a half decent phone.

- This will be my primary camera and I want good quality pictures, I'm a little worried that the SGN's camera isn't up to snuff.

- Good battery life is important to me, I got the Seido 3500 mAH battery for my Incredible and I'm a little worried that the SGN won't accept an extended battery (at least without looking weird like the TB) where the Rezound already has a very nice one available. (the size does not bother me, I actually like having something to hold onto) If the battery happens to be enough for a days use then I don't need the extended, but it's nice to know there is an option.

- Bloatware annoys the crap out of me, and it's all over the Rezound. (damn you Verizon!!!) I'm not really a fan of rooting my phone, so the appeal of a Google Experience device is big!

- I also want updates in a reasonable amount of time from when they come out, which is another big appeal of the Google Experience. Although I know that the Rezound will be ICS eventually, who knows when it will happen. Matter of fact, my Incredible JUST got the update to Gingerbread the week I got the Rezound, almost a year after Gingerbread was released. That's unacceptable to me!!!

- The build quality of the SGN scares me, the Rezound I must say is well built.

-Nexus will have a higher lifespan but if you root and load roms, both will be more than decent 2 years from now. You will get the latest updates but if you like Sense the Rezound will probably give you more options since there will be aosp roms and sense roms.

-Rezound has an amazing camera. It is excellent, also has the panorama mode and near zero shutter lag. Nexus camera is better than some make it seem but it's 5megapixels is definitely a disappointment. Still is not bad enough to ruin the phone.

-Nexus will have some vgood battery life. It's AOSP and dual-core will help it last but it is still a 4G phone. So don't expect any miracles. Rezound has better than advertised battery life. I have the extended battery, but only because i am a power user.

-Bloatware:Rezound has it. If you root, it will be removed through roms. Nexus has 2. Will also be removed through rooting.

-Nexus will get next years OS update and possibly the one after. Rezound will be getting ICS and is definitely powerful enough to get whatever update the Nexus receives. But HTC may stop supporting it and it will take them a while to push it out. Rezound won't get you the latest updates quickly.

-Some ppl make Sammy out to make cheap phones. False. They use lighter materials for a lighter phone Not cheap. HTC uses more high quality material and it shows in feel but also girth and weight.

If you do not plan to root your phone, based on your points, i say go Nexus. If you plan to root and flash roms and etc, i recommend waiting for the Nexus and playing with the hardware. Because roms will take care of you software wise, just go with whichever hardware you prefer. Which is why im with the rezound. Which phone is better? Neither, both are great and damn near even.Which should you get? There's my opinion. good luck my friend.

Nothing against the Rezound specifically, I just don't understand how anyone would consider any HTC phone. Every single Android phone they ever made has the worst battery life out of all the manufacturers. And yet, the forums are filled with surprised complaints that they can't get more than 5 or 6 hours on a charge unless they turn off all the things that we buy smartphones for.
