Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

Wise words, on all points. This forum in particular is where you are most likely to see things derail. Like I mentioned, people are very excited about the Nexus. And some people express their excitement in less constructive ways. The Rezound is a great device, take it from somebody who actually owns one. I'll be spending some time with the Nexus when it hits, and there is a chance I will exchange.

The Rezound is a day or two away from being totally unlocked, so if you are into custom ROMs that is something to think about. That will bring it more down to hardware than software, as it will get AOSP ROMs in the near future. Other than that, I stick to the idea that you need to try them out.

Like I said on the first couple of pages, the hardware won't be the only thing it comes down to after the Rezound gets CM9 or any other stock Android ROM. Ice Cream Sandwich is optimized to run with the hardware of the Galaxus. Optimization is key. Apple's i*hone doesn't have great specs but rarely do you see one lag. That's due to hardware acceleration and optimization. People overlook optimization but I think that's absurd. A mobile OS revolving around every bit of hardware the phone is made with. Also, the Rezound's processor is not the same as the Galaxus' so there can be arguments made as to which is faster. Numbers aren't everything as you can clearly tell by the Bionic's camera.

I haven't seen this lately but to those complaining about the SGX540, it's optimized (there's that word again) to work with the 4460 so that's most likely the reason Google chose to use it. When the SGX540 runs with a 4460 OMAP, the clock frequency doubles. i.e. instead of running at 200MHz you've got 384 MHz. #Wikipedia

There is one small problem I have with the Rezound. It is an HTC phone. Which means, they did the battery on the cheap.

False. I am a power users and have been getting some prettty exceptional life out of my Rezound for a 4G phone. It's pretty close to the Razr.

Serious ?

If Samsung will be making the flagship devices why did Google buy Motorola's wireless division? Samsung probably just gave the better deal to Google to have the flagship device just like att did wwth apple.

Not sure if serious...

for patents? Did you even follow what was going on that month when it was announced?

Patents were a huge part of the buy - they say they are going to let Moto continue to operate and develop devices, but we'll have to see. The Nexus has never belonged to one OEM.

Galaxy Nexus FTW

Yep, but apparently people prefer a locked, outdated, bloated, skinned, inferior device that's supported poorly when it comes to updates. But hey, it's got a decent camera so it evens out. *sarcasm* *bigtime trollface*

Meh

This is arrogant fanboyism at its best

Agreed. A "locked, outdated, bloated, skinned, inferior device," as he calls it, is also pretty much every Android device on the planet save 3: the Nexus 1, 2, and now 3.

"Android" as a brand is defined by choices, not by whether it's got a skin or not. Vanilla Android is just one flavor.

Why thank you :) I guess you could call it fanboyism, but I just prefer a better device.

Meh

Nick Naylor: OK, let's say that you're defending chocolate, and I'm defending vanilla. Now if I were to say to you: 'Vanilla is the best flavour ice-cream', you'd say...
Joey Naylor: No, chocolate is.
Nick Naylor: Exactly, but you can't win that argument... so, I'll ask you: so you think chocolate is the end all and the all of ice-cream, do you?
Joey Naylor: It's the best ice-cream, I wouldn't order any other.
Nick Naylor: Oh! So it's all chocolate for you is it?
Joey Naylor: Yes, chocolate is all I need.
Nick Naylor: Well, I need more than chocolate, and for that matter I need more than vanilla. I believe that we need freedom. And choice when it comes to our ice-cream, and that Joey Naylor, that is the defintion of liberty.
