Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

I'd advise waiting for the two to be out, and trying them out. I have the Rezound and I love it. If I like the Nexus more, I'll switch. As it stands, this device is awesome. The display is seriously unbelievable. Can't wait to see the development take off.

Coming into the Nexus forum on AC asking if any phone is better than the Nexus is silly. The waiting game is making some of these folks bat crazy. Wait to make the judgment yourself.

I just want to say I appreciate all the sensible responses I have gotten from everyone. The decision if to return the Rezound for the Nexus is going to be difficult for sure! I'm going to stop by a local Verizon to play with the Nexus when it comes out and I'll make my decision then. Either way, I know I will have a flagship device that I will enjoy for the next 2 years.

It really amazes me how a brand can become a religion to some people though, I wasn't really expecting this forum to go that direction...

I played with the razr and the rezound at verizon. The razr actually impressed me more. It felt much snappier and smoother. But that's because the razr uses an OMAP 4 chipset and the rezound uses a lower end snapdragon chipset. The screen on the rezound did not impress me at all, probably because I have seen the pics of the nexus screen and I was comparing it to that. I was a little impressed by the razr (not by the screen, the performance), I was not at ALL impressed by the rezound. But to be honest, I would not buy either one simply because they have a locked bootloader. That alones negates any hardware/software specs IMO.

Meh

To the OP, i'd just check out reviews. Asking this in the forums is a bad idea. Like ive been saying, i really don't care. My phone is getting rooted and booting cyanogen mod regardless.

No it will NOT. I'm sorry, but probably no phone will run ICS like the gnex will. They took a new software and then handpicked the hardware to run with it so it's custom suited to run ICS. The rezound was just another android phone built running gingerbread. At most (which it isn't) it was built to run GB.

Meh

Isn't that the same strategy that Apple follows with the iphone to make it run smooth? Optimize the iOS to the hardware on the iphone. Is this what we do when we root/rom an Android phone, ie, optimize the software to run with X handset hardware?

It's what we attempt to do, but never actually achieve it like iphone has with iOS and how the nexus will with ICS

I have checked out reviews online, I probably have read every rezound and nexus review on the first 3 search result pages for each. I tend to not trust people who are paid to review products though, as they get these products from companies and don't want to burn any bridges with a negative review. I'd rather get real world opinions from people who have used the devices.

I've asked this same question in several forums and this is the only one that got off track. As I said, I'm surprised by how a brand can become dogma to some.

I figured there were some very smart people on here that could point out some details and give opinions based on their experience that would assist me in making my decision. I am happy to find out that there are and I appreciate their help. Unfortunately, I am also surprised by how strongly opinionated some people can be about two products that are not that different.

I think I can break it down..in simple terms....Do you like a Camaro or Firebird.....Do you like Coke or pepsi....Do you like Levis or Lee's.....Do you like the BMW 5 series or the Audi A6......It's all personal preference ....Try em both (no one has tried the Galaxy yet)..at least anyone in here...to each his own...enjoy the Holidays....Mike.........

Wise words, on all points. This forum in particular is where you are most likely to see things derail. Like I mentioned, people are very excited about the Nexus. And some people express their excitement in less constructive ways. The Rezound is a great device, take it from somebody who actually owns one. I'll be spending some time with the Nexus when it hits, and there is a chance I will exchange.

The Rezound is a day or two away from being totally unlocked, so if you are into custom ROMs that is something to think about. That will bring it more down to hardware than software, as it will get AOSP ROMs in the near future. Other than that, I stick to the idea that you need to try them out.

It still amazes me the negativity of a lot of people about any phone (Android, WP7, iOS). People are really looking for better feedback than this sucks, that sucks, etc.

We should be ecstatic for the first time that I can remember Verizon has THREE top notch phones from the major OEMs all at the same time. While they're all Dual Core, 4G LTE they all have strengths and weaknesses. Also, it is awfully hard to downgrade the Rezound and Razr for not having ICS when there are no US phones with ICS yet. And those of you that can compare and evaluate the GNex screen against the Razr/Rezound without having phone in hand are just kidding themselves. I went and looked at the Razr and I thought it had a great display (didn't try to turn it down in brightness to see if could get the green background), was only able to look at the dummy mockup of the Rezound so can't pass judgement on that.

Be happy for anyone that has the Razr or Rezound and likes it. If those phones have some downside that you have noticed during actual use then share it. If not, just keep your mouth shut, you're not helping anyone.

For those of you that will never be happy, just think that CES is just around the corner so we can see prototypes of phones that will not be released until at least June 2012 and most likely Sept 2012 (see Bionic that was re-designed).

Personally, I can't wait to see 2nd generation LTE chipsets at 28 nm that will really give us practical usage time on LTE handsets. Personally, I would like to see dual core and qHD (or 720p) on handsets in the 3.7" to 4.0" size. All of the top end handsets are like carrying a brick in your pocket.

I think the brand of smartphone you first buy is the one you stick by.

Not always true. I started with Nokia, then went to Motorola, then Samsung, then LG, then Blackberry. I guess that makes me a phone slut. LOL

I keep jumping between wanting to keep my droid razr or exchange it for the Galaxy nexus. My biggest wants are the best camera optics (between the two), battery life and screen quality. I actually read somewhere that some reviewer liked the razr screen more than the galaxy nexus, but i dont know how true that statement was. Camera seems to be slightly better on the razr, and battery life is so far undetermined. Any suggestions? Anyone return their razr for the upcoming GN?

This is what ive been saying for a few days now. haha

And OP, go over to the Phandroid.com forums. Alot of users have the UK version and are posting reviews. One user even has video. It can be very helpful.

There is one small problem I have with the Rezound. It is an HTC phone. Which means, they did the battery on the cheap.
