Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

You're seriously using YouTube as a source for a photo comparison? The rezound's pictures are much, much worse than the iPhone's. (they're still very good though) sorry guys, I know you love your rezound's, but the photos it takes are nowhere near as good as the iPhones.

I have no reason to flash kernels though...my phone already benches better than the GN and has better battery life. And having flashed many kernels on my Droid 1, I can say it was mostly a waste of time. The kernels provided some benefits with severe drawbacks. The only reason I did it at all was so I could overclock.

EDIT - According to XDA, yes, you can flash Kernels on the Rezound - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372131&page=5 -

You need s-off to flash kernels. Htc has not unlocked the security. You can't flash radios and I doubt you can flash kernels. (several posters in that thread mention s-off being required, which hasn't been achieved yet)

And interestingly, you bash people for choosing what is best for them, and in the very first line of your post you prove yourself to be a hypocrite.

The Rezound pictures are definitely better. Maybe you need to adjust your screen. BTW, where are you making your comparisons, since it's not YouTube?

Actually read through the thread, past the dates where the bootloader was still locked... You can flash the kernel through fastboot in the bootloader menu.

It isnt being advertised that way.

Are you certain you will feel that way a year from now? You better be....because you are trapped into that 32 gigs forever.

(incidentally...why are they even offering a 16 gig version? Every single person I know who is buying a GN is buying a 32 gig version. Gee...I wonder why that is lol)

I guess it was really fortunate for me that HTC allowed me to unlock mine. My phone is unlocked and rooted.
Really ? Are you with Verizon? Verizon doesn't release control easily. I was under the impression that only the original droid and now the galaxy nexus could have an unlocked bootloader. Good to hear! I'm glad you had that option!

The GSM versions released in Europe were only offered with 16. Not for nothin, but as Americans, we are known for the bigger is better philosophy. We as whole, would lose our natural minds, if we weren't offered the biggest. After all isn't that the argument for why we GN owners are daft/cheated because we "just don't have enough".

I'm almost never more than 30 minutes without wifi/3g/4g connection. Even if I was going on a 15hr flight 32gigs can hold enough entertainment to sustain me round trip. I like interacting with people. Even though I have a large screen for a phone, I would rather watch a movie on a much larger screen. Yup, I'm good with 32. I'm more likely to use my mac book air, if I need to stare at a screen for more than an hour while being relatively mobile.

It's all about individual needs!

I agree 100%
Wife has an iphone 4 on big red and it has an incredible camera, but so did her enVTouch.
But so many things come in to play, white balance, etc.
Post processing cures most things but for a quick shot to send off to a printer, etc. iphone has everyone beat.

And you are basing this on what? The reviewers actually have both phones in hand, and pick the Rezound.

Tried both cameras in the store. Tried photos of different things. Macro (not great) low light, etc.
If I had to rate the three phones:

1) Iphone 4/4s
2) Rezound
5) Nexus

My Dinc takes better photos then the Nexus, but playing with the settings it works.
Iphone when printed just had more natural tones then the others.
Iphone has cooler tones on skin
rezound was warm with it's skin tones. Not bad but just slightly off. Tweaking the settings would help it. Was using an employee's rezound.
Nexus was extremely warm on it's skin tones and was managable but not up to par with the others. Depending on the light and surface/ subject you shoot the Nexus seemed all over the place.

That being said, I think the rezound does compete, but falls a bit short IMHO.
The iphone has the best image sensor, again my opinion only.

If you are looking at images on your computer you probably don't have a color calibration tool, unless some do. It makes a BIG difference.

Yeah, thats why this is such a big deal. And no, Verizon is NOT happy about it. They are putting up with it, but thats it.

As I recall, Verizon had to be dragged kicking and screaming with the Droid 1 as well. That was not their choice either.

Yikes, really? Are they citing a reason for that?

What source are you using for comparison? Why is youtube insufficient?

In terms of technology the "bigger is better" rationale is not strictly American.

However, the BiB rationale has produced the RAZR, which while incredibly thin and lightweight, is huge (for a phone).

Speaking of differences between Europe and America, didn't the European RAZR come with a full 720p screen? Can anyone confirm that?

Just wanted to add a couple things to my earlier observations. 1. My GN seemed to smudge less than the Rezound. I don't know if I'm all wet here and it's just in my head, but I swear the Rezound smudges easier. Not a big deal. 2. To my surprise, the Rezound is about as snappy when navigating throughout the OS, running apps, running camera, etc. I still say the GN was faster in this regard, but not as much as I thought it would be with Sense, bloatware, etc on the Rezound.

OK, carry on...

Here is my experience. I bought the GN on launch day. I had it for 6 days. For those 6 days, I dealt with lost data connection every day, on and off, both 4g and 3g, and sometimes WiFi. These were all in areas I never had 3g drops with on my Incredible for 2 years. I returned it for the Rezound. I now get 4g at home and haven't had total data connection losses like I did with the GN. In my experience, the signal on the GN was crap, and the signal on the Rezound works like it should.

Other observations: The screen on the Rezound is noticeably more vivid and beautiful. The camera takes better pictures on the Rezound. The GN randomly shutdown (not restart) and the camera on the GN force closed sometimes. The shutter speed is awesome on the GN, but the autofocus couldn't keep up which negated that. ICS on the GN was nice and having vanilla OS with no bloat made for a super snappy phone.

I dont recall ever seeing a rationale for allowing the sale of only 16 gig versions of the phone.

This has been a developer phone in past iterations. It caught on w/ enough consumers that it bridged to becoming feasible to sell to a broader market. Devs. don't need that kind of storage, consumers do. You keep viewing this phone like it's a debut device or something. It has a history, that preceeds the release of the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon.

Desensed and debebloated= Whole new ballgame

Oh I'm sure. Was just comparing my stock vs stock experience.

Finally the truth!
LOL! Dare I say it's primarily a masculine obsession with a few gals thrown in.

Love is in the eye of the beholder! If you don't like it , get someone else....hmmm...I mean another phone.
