Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

I have no doubt that the Rezound is a performer (hardware wise) from the times I've used one, but I wanted a pure Google (non-sense) and quick updates device, and that's the Nexus. (And no, I wasn't about to spend hours of my time searching XDA for ROMS to make the Rezound better. Just don't feel like it. If you're into that and have the free time, then power to you.)

Also the Rezound is a thick, heavy brick IMO, but that was the smallest of my gripes.

No idea why everyone has to heavily debate the two. They're not even really in the same category. Whatever you like, buy.

That actually seems to be an important factor to many people - build materials. A thick, heavy brick to you is a sturdy and well built phone to someone else. Some people don't like how light Samsung phones are due to a lot of plastic being used. I had a Sensation and that thing did feel like an expertly crafted machine compared to my Nexus.

Im still up in the air about the nexus,I want the "Pure Google Experience" but I just want a good camera in my phone as well,so I don't know. I took the rezound on a test drive for about a week in a half and didn't like it,so Im lost o my what to do.

I started out with the Nexus and ended up with the Rezound. The camera on the Rezound is outstanding. I'm not talking 5 vs. 8 megapixels, but in terms of clarity and sharpness I feel the Rezound is better.

I also like having the option for the extended battery. I hate sense with a passion and I really miss ICS, but I'm using Go Launcher and getting by. To me, the Rezound fixed my gripes about the Nexus (except for ICS).

What didn't you like about the Rezound? By far, it has the best camera in terms of general quality. The only thing that might be lacking is a few milliseconds in shutter speed when compared to the Nexus.
As for the "pure Google experience", there might be something pretty close to that now that Google has pretty much forced everyone into the "Holo" theme that is needed to support the Market.
I'm unsure if this theme is going to only affect app development, or if is needed for the entire UI. In which case you'll be able to go with the "stock" look and feel.

Had the rezound since December 4th. Wanted to try the nexus out since I heard all the hype. Lasted 5 hours before I wanted to switch.

ICS was really nice but overall the nexus wasn't for me.

Low speaker volume
No option for disk drive when plugged into computer. It's a "media device"
Battery was awful
Low signal
No voice and data over 3g

We don't want updates that are just bug fixes. 4.01 to 4.02 was all bug fixes Verizon found correct? We want major updates pushed faster. The change to 4.03 looks mostly to make ICS compatible with more devices, and has more bug fixes. Bug fixes are for beta software, not full releases. And for us who do care about all the bug fixes, we will get all the updates Nexus guys get, because we will root, and flash roms. And I will also put these things on my sd card, after I mount it as a mass storage device, like a normal phone. Then I will take it out, and put another sd card in that is empty, just because I can.

Normal people hate that updates have to come out to fix sim card issues (razr) crappy radio performance (nexus) etc.... They just want things to work.

Go back to the iphone forum and show 'em how big your "screen" is, I'm sure they will want to see it.

Oh so im sure people like suffering from issues like this

bug in text message editor... update to fix comming out? - HTC Rezound

Dont want a bug fix update... And they say nexus owners are fanboys.. Sorry to point out your phone has issues too.. Just because it hasent had any updates come out doesnt mean its perfect.. SORRY TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE you live in.. Also whenever you guys do get ICS do you not think that will come with bugs.. Its brand new and I can guarantee that problems will surface.. And yeah Im perfectly fine with my built in 32GBs that load my pictures etc faster because its internal memory. But to each his own.. Im not trying to bash the rezound because it uses a sd card.. Different strokes for different folks.. And dont mention Flashing roms for bug fixes.. We are the 1% here that flash roms etc.. Go ask someones mom what a bootloader is.. Im sure she wont know what the hell your talking about!

Manipulate reality to suit your view, classic. Your comical, how do you conclude I don't like software updates. I love em, I don't enjoy owning a phone in need of maintenance updates just to function at par. How does a phone that has had issues out the wazoo for many owners, in need of software and maintenance updates just to function in an acceptable manner stomp a phone that looks & performs as a near flawless GB build. Just cuz it has ICS, please? You can get every frickin update on planet. I'll be happy to use a phone w/ a clean bill of health, that has no need for maintenance updates every other week. That I will be able to flash w/ ever improving ICS roms in the near future. I spent ungodly amounts in the GN forums pre release, and spent many hours w/ the VGN in hand. I loved the features it brings to the table. If they wouldn't have rushed the release in 2011. I'd own one, they didn't optimize the hardware to meet my expectations, so I passed on it.

As well, you have no idea how the Rezound performs unlocked, debloated, & deSensed. So don't mistake that sense of righteousness of using a Nexus device is a lonely experience for outsiders. What was snappy to begin with, now, flies like a peregrine as it eyes lock onto it's next meal.

Also you should shut your mouth when you have no idea what your talking about lol... I had a Rezound because best buy realized at the last min they were not supposed to be selling me a gn so I had to use the Rezound for about a week and a half.. Most people dont Unlock, root or anything like that... So mentioning that is irrelevant. The Rezound was a decent phone.. But im over sense and what it sucks out of the phone battery wise... We all know htc's track record with battery life.. If I were to have a rezound seeing how the design is cool Id rather not have some huge ugly extended battery on there either.. So out of the two I chose the nexus.. Some things could be better its not perfect either but it was a better device FOR ME.. Why do u have such a problem with that?

This is the first I have heard of that. I certainly do not have issues with it. Text editing works very well for me actually.

Dont want a bug fix update... And they say nexus owners are fanboys.. Sorry to point out your phone has issues too..
Very (very) few. Especially compared to the GN. A quick comparison of their forums makes this clear.

And the issues the GN has are more critical...that radio issue is a big deal, and has led to lots of returns from people on this forum. That is the kind of thing that will not just be noticed by the nerds...normal people will definitely notice that as well.

Just because it hasent had any updates come out doesnt mean its perfect.. SORRY TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE you live in.. Also whenever you guys do get ICS do you not think that will come with bugs..
By the time it is officially released, most of the bugs will have been worked out while it was in beta on the GN. And if we want to beta test like the GN users, we have that option as well. My Rezound is already rooted.

And yeah Im perfectly fine with my built in 32GBs that load my pictures etc faster because its internal memory.
LOL! That is hilarious. You cant really believe that. The Rezound loads pictures instantly even from SD. Not sure how much faster you can get than "instantly".

The Rezound also has "fast" memory, just not as much. So if we want pictures to load 0.0000478% faster, we can still put them on internal memory. Is having an extra 16 gigs of "fast" memory really worth not being able to expand beyond 32 gigs for the life of the phone? That (not the radio issue) is the main reason I passed on the GN. If I wanted to be boxed into internal memory only, I'd just go buy an iPhone. I find it extremely funny that GN users consider a lack of expansion to be a "feature" LOL.

Now to answer the original posters question... Both are good phones I think the Rezound is more consumer friendly and the nexus is more for nerds.. One example.. Built in fb integration.. The average consumer would probably want things like status updates and contact pictures just to sync to the device.. While sense does this ok I like haxsync alot better on my GN.. Better resolution pics etc. But the normal consumer side of me thinks.. I shouldnt have to download a app just for something like this to work... On the rezound u just sign in and boom done. Little things like that. Also I know im using a new version of the os and surprisingly I havent ran into any compatibility issues.. But if your buying a Nexus you should expect a few maybe down the road.. Maybe not but I come in with that expectation. Gingerbread will be waaay more polished because its been around the block.

Hardware wise... I like the GN and I like the Rezound.. The Nexus is light, has a great screen, battery life was better then the rezound (In my case) results may vary. Depending on brightness, what you do, etc. The Rezound will be a little more heavy but I didnt mind that either.. Just feels like it may be able to take more abuse a more solid feel.. It also has a great screen.. No joke.. It really comes down to what u like.. Bigger screen or smaller screen.. And if you like a little more heft to your device or a lighter device... I say hold both and see.. Some dont like the plastic build of the Nexus or any samsung phones for that matter lol but I never keep a naked phone so I could care less.. And it doesnt feel super cheap to me anyway.. Some call the Rezound a brick or all htc phones for that matter but I dont mind sturdy build.. Also a factor for you may be memory... Do you like built in memory or do you like to use a sd card.. Some cant live without sd slots.. People like me could care less.. I use airdroid so I dont plug in my phone anyway.. Just connect via wifi and I can move files, delete, xfer things etc. Now space could be a concern but with the cloud I have no need for anything over 32GB but some do.. So if thats important for you.. Go with the rezound..

My primary reasons for getting a Nexus was stock ics, Receiving timely updates.. I was over sense after having the evo 4g and evo 3d. And for me 6' 2" I liked the bigger phone and in my case once again it may be different for you, better battery life. I think both phones fly so performance really wasent a issue for me. Another small thing for me was the led.. I thought nothing of it at first but its great because It has all the colors so I use it for all my notifications... I know without even unlocking my phone if something important has come through or not... I absolutely love that.

Read the reason why I posted about Internal memory.. Because someone told me something rediculous like I can put things on my memory card and put roms on there etc... Ummmmm OK thats nice... Would you like a cookie lol! Storage is storage. That is a total preference thing.. And when u have tons and tons of pics or files internal memory can save a little more then 0.0000478% faster.. But as I said thats a preference thing because I was fine with having a memory card too and I definitely understand for people that need tons of storage. 32GB is more then enough for me. Talk about fanbois in here.. LOL calm down killer! The post I made in here got everybody all crazy and it wasent even anything bad I said about the rezound.. I said dont trust speed tests even if the phones are right next to each other because it means nothing.. I posted a video showing a GN beating the rezound in a speedtest just to show even though they were right next to each other and the GN won.. That doesnt mean it has a better radio or will perform better then the rezound in everyday use... Im sure if he did multiple speed tests the rezound may have came out on top too.. Then Rezound fans seen the speed test and went crazy something along these lines lol

For me personally the heft of the Rezound was not a negative. That is one of the things I liked about the Droid 1. It felt very solid.

My mouth is shut, my fingers did all the talking, genius. I don't have any issue w/ what you prefer, I could care less. My issue w/ this is your post #296 in this thread. What's the need for posting that. I wouldn't have given a crap about #295, if it wasn't followed by such an arrogant statement #296, in the Rezound forum.

Also youngzayiles, care to post what your mbps write and read speeds are from your memory? Curious, as you've stated that it is faster without actually providing proof.

A quick google brings this up:

Doesn't look like the read speeds are too much different. Granted the write speeds are great compared to my run that day.

Exactly why I say your sensitive.. SMH.. 295 wasent anything bad and 296 was posted because of a error by tepatalk which posted a duplicate post with nothing there... LOL So calm down buddy.. Your eye is probably twitching over there as you type.. Defending your rezound is not that serious! Its a cool phone, you could have a Pantech.. lol

No problem since your statement isn't rude due to fanboi rage and ur actually asking something meaningful.. My SD card read speeds good and write speed fluctuate a lot. Here u go.

Do believe that when the Rezound gets ICS it will even be recognizable to what is on the Nexus, or do you think it is more likely to be Sense UI to death?

Good question ^^... But seeing as how Htc loves Sense. I highly doubt you will even recognize ICS.. Especially if its anything like the builds of touchwiz I have been seeing... I still like sense the best so far between sense and touchwiz (havent used the artist formally known as blur in a while) but I think its getting stale... They should add some new things to sense.. Kinda give it a refresh with some ICS goodness..

I think they will probably adapt Sense bit for ICS.

I am not a fan of any Vendor UI. I got the Rezound in SPITE of Sense, not because of it. But ICS has its issues as well. from what I understand you cant use 3rd party launchers with it yet and that is a problem for me.
