Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

The nexus is the reason why 0 shutter lag is a bad idea. It Takes the pictures instantly without giving you time to focus. Only way to get a perfect shot is to have it on a stabilizing stand. The rezound is awesome. Imo it's the best spec'd phone Verizon has ever had. And i never make a purchase on just software. Especially when it comes to adnroid because you can get that same OS on almost any phone. I know ICS won't be stock when we get it. But once we get ICS Roms. I won't see any reason to get the Nexus.

Also, many people have Roms on the Nexus anyways. If your gonna root and run roms on your phone. What's the big deal? Only benefit to the Nexus imo is that it has a larger dev backing and Roms are aplenty. But i have no problem being patient.

And this is from a Nexus user who owened the rezound, Launch day Nexus, and is back on the Rezound.

I'm going to pack everything up and go in tomorrow before I have to go to work. Still not 100% sure, but I know the camera is enough to make me want to switch back.

Had the rezound from launch. Almost made the decision to keep it. I really thought the Nexus would be an awesome phone, so made the switch. ICS is awesome, but the GNex hardware sucks. Hardly ever had a data signal, high pitch squeal during phone calls, and the camera took awful pics. Decided to go back to the Rezound because I wasn't sure a software update would fix. Almost a month and no update. So much for faster updates from google. Realized how amazing the screen on the Rezound reallly is. Almost 3D. Camera much better and a solid data signal. The Rezound absolutely is the best phone on Verizon at this time. Especially at $199 with $100 beats earbuds.

What do you consider to be an update, if 4.0.1, 4.0.2 & 4.0.3, don't meet your qualifications?

I am new to Android and have had my Rezound for two weeks. I feel this is an outstanding phone. It seems to handle everything I throw at it. The camera is one of the best, if not the best I have had on a smartphone.

I personally like the thickness of this phone. Reading the specs of each phone, I foun the Rezoundto be a better option for me and when ICS comes out, I will be all set.

I'm so glad there are others who like a think phone. The thin phone are nice for some but I want something I can hold on to.

Either way, it's not like team Googles been sitting on their duffs twiddling their thumbs w/ the GN lineup since the releases.

Google can't afford to sit on their duffs twiddling their thumbs. The Galaxy Nexus has way too many bugs! ;)

I would like some peoples opinions here regarding these two phones without getting flamed. I realize the choice is of a personal nature and both have there pros and cons. I am a brand new android uses coming from a blackberry. I'm not gonna dig right in a root and unlock my phone being that i am new at this whole experience. I picked up the nexus 9 days ago and am still in the 14 day window of exchanging this device. Since I won't be unlocking and my belief after reading through countless threads is that the Nexus is more a developing phone and one would say for the more experienced user. Would your recommendation for me be to switch to the rezound to try and learn the ins and outs of the stock experience or stay where i am on the nexus. The biggest con for me is the size of the nexus, I can't access most of the screen with one hand and need two to get across the screen. This being said any opinions would be appreciated.

TIA

I have had both the Rezound and Gnex and, I'm going back to the Rezound. It just felt better in the hand to me. The screen IMHO is just a little too large. I think ICS may take some getting used to. I have no hate for Sense, it does some things I actually like. All in all, I just liked the Rezound better.

As far as ICS has some getting used to i don't really know what ICS has or how I could not like sense since I never had either before. I agree the screen is to large IMO too. My hands are tiny.

Judging from your quote, I can see you would be very well pleased with the Rezound. Like you, I'm new with Android, GB, phone-that-does-it-all...Just to have this clipped to me all day is truly amazing so after 30+ days I'm still shaking my head in amazement. Haven't rooted but love to dig in and read about it. I'll stay with the stock stuff as the Rezound is plenty fast, beautiful screen, 5 star camera, connection strength at least in my neck of the woods, stock battery lasts 2-3 days depending on my use, and hasn't had any flops/foul-ups at all. Feel and fit in the hands is just right. I use the Otterbox defender setup so it does add just enough 'secure' fit for my hands which are "normal" without adding any "it's too big" feelings with the protection around it. My sister just got the Nexus you have and hasn't called me since I told her I have the Rezound! Knowing her as I do, I think she's having second thoughts about it... Her reason for the phone was it had to have a radio in it so she could listen while she works out in the gym. Well I don't think it does so right there's a minus for her. Also she might not be happy with the call quality either (maybe why she hasn't called :-\). Not here to bash the GN but to let you know you'll not regret moving over to this great phone as many here attest to.

Thanks for the advice and I think I am leaning to exchanging the device tomorrow. I do lose my signal a lot too. That could be why she hasn't called you cause she can't. There have been days where I lose a signal for more than 3 or 4 hours. I live close to NY so I would think there are lots of towers in this area. I can't hold a 3g signal at times just the 1x.

Funny...she lives in a BIG part of Southern California were VZW is very strong but I hear what you're saying. I live between somewhere and nowhere where if you blink, you'll miss the town. It's a one tower town so that's why my call quality is really good like a constant 70dbm's. Anyway you should be happy with the exchange. Let us know how it goes :)

The best advice I can give is to go to a store and try out the Rezound. The way I look at it, if you are going to be stuck with a phone for two years, make dang sure it is the one for you. I have zero problems with exchanging phones within the grace period.

I like the Sense interface for some small reasons. When I have a call coming in and I pick up the phone, the ringer volume drops so I don't disturb those around me with my annoying ringtones. When I'm in a call and on hold or whatnot, I place the phone on a flat surface and the speakerphone comes on automatically. Little things, but they sure come in handy from time to time.

For me, the phone just felt better in my hand. My hand cupped the curved back better on the Rezound. Both the GNex and the Rezound are great phones but as with so many things in life, it is a matter of personal preference. I prefer Sense to ICS. I prefer the HTC build to that of Samsung. Most people hate Sense, but I really dig it. Like I said, if you are going to be stuck with one for two years, make sure it is the phone for you.

I most certainly will thank you

I totally agree with the personal preference. The problem with that is not having either before makes that personal prefernece a tough decision. Can't dislike either ICS or sense without actually owning a phone with either. I like the little things you mentioned and those are the type of things i am looking for. It's now a matter which feels better in my hand. i will go and try the rezound and probably take one home tomorrow. Thanks to all who responded

The rezound is a nice phone but 2 to 3 days on a stock battery. I find that hard to believe unless you basically don't use your phone at all lol.. Care to post a screenshot of your battery status?

From the best android phone PERIOD. Galaxy Nexus.

I would suggest that you actually go into the VZW store when you have some time. Take some time to actually play with the Rezound. The Rezound has a completely different OS than the GN does. You might like the Rezounds Sense UI. The Rezound will be a little bit more refined of a user experience because of Sense UI and the fact that the OS it is using has been around for more than a year. The GN is using a brand new OS which has only been in use for weeks.
