ringtone, notification sound not saving

I'm having a similar problem. Verizon, using their Message+.

I can configure a universal notification sound through either Message+ or through Android Sounds/Notifications.

But when I select a custom text sound for different people, those settings are ignored, and only the universal one is used. These are mp3's that I have copied to the internal memory, and they play properly when I select them when I'm editing Contacts. But they just don't get used.

Is this an Android/Note 8 problem, or a Verizon/Message+ problem??

To update:

I changed my default Messaging program from Verizon's Message+ to the other app available, I guess it's a Samsung app.

This one worked fine, utilizing the custom sounds I set up through Contacts for messaging.

Pretty ridiculous that Verizon's own messaging app is screwed up. I have had multiple problems with it not syncing all messages, having an awkward interface, etc. Will just move on to something else, if the Samsung one doesn't prove satisfactory.

I have all my ringtones, messages, the alarm, the timer, the phone set to different tunes from my own mps on the phone that I have put into a folder marked notications, alarms, ringtones on internal storage and the Note asks if I want to use media from storage and I say yes. and none of them have changed on their own. Verizon. I haven't used any app for this. Maybe some of the apps being used aren't playing nice with the Note? I know this has been a problem on a lot of phones.

My individual ringtones & notifications wouldn't show up even after I selected & added them. I needed to move them to the ringtones folder in internal storage, wouldn't work if they were in alarms or notifications folders-wierd.

If you want to keep notifications/ringtones on your SD card there needs to be a folder called 'media'. Within this folder you'll need other folders, 'notifications' and 'ringtones' where you'll store notifications and ringtones in their respective folders. They will then show in your list of ava sounds when you're selecting a tone.
