[ROM][4.19.2011] Das BAMF 1.5

Ok thanks for all your help I will give that a try.

Fyi, I have heard of your wifi issue on other roms and a workaround is put the phone on airplane mode then off airplane mode and wifi starts working? A temporary fix at best... Also sending you a pm.

do I need to put both the ROM and Kernel in the root of my SD card?

Then would I need to go through all the ADB codes as if followed to get in to the bootloaders just before i rooted or can is there another way in to there?

Swing over to xda developers website and find this rom thread. More detailed instructions and links to 2 zip files you can load via Hboot and cwr. Or you can use adb...

stupid question: and im sorry but how do you get to CWR after rooting this thing...I just can't seem to find it or do it the right way. I have 1.2 downloaded and waiting to be put on :(

no, the kernel can't be flashed in cwm. The op has 2 different options: using fastboot or going into the bootloader. I did the latter and it's basically the same method that was used to flash the old and current ruu's to get root. You just put the PG05IMG.zip on your sdcard, go into hboot by either typing adb reboot bootloader if you're connected to a pc or power off and hold volume down and the power button.

Just want to clarify that this is correct.

1) Roms can be installed via Rom Manager
2) Kernals must be installed via adb (the same way we got to root).

Do Roms and Kernals wipe, or just Kernals wipe data?

So to install this we would...

1) Download PG05IMG.zip to SD Card
2) plug in phone to computer, set to Disk Drive mode and turn USB Debugging On
3) Open up adb via command prompt.
4) Type "adb reboot bootloader"
5) Once in bootloader, it should start installing the PG05IMG.zip

Phone reboots and kernal is done.

Now we open up Rom Manager, and click install the ROM via SD Card and that's it?

Just want to make sure is all :)

Also is there more steps if we installed another ROM via ROM Manager previously?

Data isn't wiped when updating the rom or kernel. I'm not really sure what the preferred process of flashing is. I flashed the original 1.0 in cwm first. Booted up and then used adb to get into the bootloader and installed the kernel. Haven't had any issues.

After you type "adb reboot bootloader", hit the power button to select the bootloader option. It should go through and then eventually ask you to hit volume up to confirm.

Right on, thanks PJinc. I think I got the kernal installs down successfully. Could you maybe elaborate a bit more on the best way to install using ROM Manager? I don't think I've been doing it right...

This is what I've been doing.
1) Downloading the ROM to my sdcard
2) Opening up ROM Manager and click "Install ROM from SD Card"
3) I selected "Das_BAMF1.zip" and checked Wipe Data and Cache
4) I press OK to boot into CWM Recovery and the phone then reboots
5) CWM installs the ROM and starts back up.

That's all we need to do correct, and is this the "best" way to do it? Or is this skipping vital parts / steps?

Also on CWM, is there a way to power off the phone and not go straight into the CWM Bootloader menu?

Furthermore, once the phone booted back up, my clock / home screen did not look like the screenshot posted above..

I've had bad luck using rom manager to install roms going back to the OG Droid days so I just choose the Reboot into Recovery option which takes you to CWM. Then choose Install zip from sd card and find the rom file. It seems that you don't have to wipe anything at the moment but usually people will suggest to Wipe Cache and go into Advanced and choose Wipe Dalvik Cache. With this method you still have your data and don't need to reload everything.

The power off into cwm while plugged in is a known issue. Some have mentioned that turning on Fast boot in Power under Settings helps but others have reported that even that doesn't work.

Thanks again for the help man.

Just two more questions and I swear I'm done (at least for now haha)

1) Why does my home screen not look like the screenshot above after flashing the kernal and installing the ROM?
2) everytyime i'm in CWM and flash a ROM, it then asks in install update.zip after it finishes the installation of the ROM.zip. Should I do this or is that something that I should find and delete from my SDCard?

Also, I tired Quadrant, and only got 1699. Does this mean I did something wrong with flashing the Kernal?

Follow this guide to flash a rom using ClockworkMod:

http://forum.androidcentral.com/gen...-effective-way-when-flashing-custom-roms.html

Flashing the kernel has to be done using a different method. You can use adb or you can download the one he has linked separately for flashing in hboot. The Hboot one is def the easiest but I don't know if there is any performance difference between the 2 methods.

The last 2 pages should have its own sticky lol. I grabbed more info on those pages than I did reading all the forums. Lol.

I found out that I was installing 1.1, so I wiped the phone and installed 1.2 via CWM. The installation said it was successful, and I clicked Reboot Phone now...

Now the phone will not turn on all the way. It does the Thunderbolt animation and stops there.

I'm thinking the .zip may not have transferred correctly or something.

How do I access the SD Card from my computer now that I cannot turn on my phone and put it into disk drive mode?

EDIT: I am now starting to freak out lol. Anyone?

Take the SD card out of the phone and use a usb card reader.

How long did you give it to boot? Do you still have the 1.1 version on your sd card. And you don't have to wipe data everytime between roms. Usually only if you run into problems.
