[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

I know that the UKB 2.0 Rom includes the ED01 Radio.... I currently have ED03, so that will be overwritten, correct? From what I have heard, there really isn't much difference (if any) between ED01 and ED03...

Is there anyway to keep ED03? Just curious....

Thanks

There is no radio included in the current version CommROM 2.0.

The radio/modem you start with is the radio/modem you end with. Odin versions of some ROMs will come with radios.. Landshark has clearly identified what versions of radio in his Odin versions of CommROM. His listed versions of CommROM are version 1.x.. And the radio version he has included is EC01.

I was in the yellow recovery from PBJ but then I flashed commrom 2.0 with OTB 1.5 and now it doesn't do anything when I click on it.

I have been using OTB 1.5 for 10 days and have not encountered this issue.. There is no notification built into the clearing of the Battery Stats.. If you have selected wipe battery stats.. then you get the long list of "no"... then you select the "yes" - you have cleared the battery stats.. There will be no notification.

If you cannot get to the yes/no menu then the recovery is broken.. I would suggest installing a new recovery - times_infinity has a fantastic selection - there will be no notification on these either..

I think my battery is fried?

I know that we are all looking for the best battery life possible. I have had pretty good battery life, up until a few days ago. I'm running ED03 KB 1.3 with the honeycomb theme. The only things that I have changed in the past few days are that I now have the honeycomb theme, and I have friendcaster as opposed to FB, so I can actually get notifications. Also I am running voodoo for the first time, I have not touched any of the voltage settings.

Do you think that voodoo, or a theme, or friendcaster is whats causing problems?

I mean, my phone is off all night charging, I turn it on at 6am, and by noon its DEAD, I have to carry around a second battery. And thats with minimal to no useage.

Do widgets use up alot of battery? I'm trying to think of every scenario possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I can tell you that if you have installed an app that makes use of the network - data connection (which it sounds like friendcaster does) - It may be in a continuous connection and that would be the first place I would look.. you can remove the app - run you phone for a day.. see if that makes a difference..

I have never had voodoo battery or CommROM battery issues..

Isn't there an app that can tell you the frequency and about each app is using your days connection?

Also, woohoo purple clockwork lol

I believe that Juice Defender was one that was described by gunnermike53 some time ago as having that ability.. I have not used it.

Purple Recovery.. my favorite!

The friendcaster app itself should not be the source of your battery drain unless you leave it on all the time. If there is an associated widget with friendcaster which is pulling info all the time, that would kill the battery. I would look at your widgets also. If any of them are constantly pulling any kind of data or constantly syncing, that will kill the battery too.

The friendcaster widget has a variable sync time and also a manual refresh, I love it, but I don't think it's syncing constantly. Again I have no way to check. Juice defender doesn't have an option like that I checked. But if you have a bunch of apps and widgets syncing constantly it will most definitely drain the battery.

If you are just going to flash the radio via ODIN it won't effect data unless the complete DL09 package is used. I did this just the other day and it worked flawlessly.

Ok, so DL09 --> EA28 --> ED03 rebooting at each update to verify radio. Which version of CWM works best with KB2.0? Blue, Purple, or regular?

Color doesn't affect the function. It's aesthetic.

CWM 3.0 is said to be the CWM of choice for flashing UKB 2.0

My Upgrade Path

Since I'm coming from an older Radio and CWM I thought it would be a good idea to put together a quick step by step process flow for upgrading my radio/CWM/ROM to the latest and greatest..and sharing it with the community. Sometimes pulling all of the details for what you need to do for an upgrade are spread across multiple threads so I thought I would put together a step by step of what I am planning on doing for my upgrade.

Feel free to let me know if I made a mistake in the process!

You missed the step of going from EA28 to ED01, it's not EA28 straight to ED03. And the flashes from DL09=>EA28=>ED01=>ED03 are zip files done through CWM not tar files done through ODIN. And I would move the step of flashing CWM 3.0 up to right after flashing to DL09 through ODIN. You already have the battery out, just close ODIN, pull USB cord, open ODIN, re-establish your connection to ODIN and flash CWM 3.0. The zip files are in Edify script which is best flashed in CWM 3.0. And I would also add in a wipe of data/cache/dalvik cash after flashing the ROM. The wipe of data after enables the GPS enhanced framework. Other than that, good to go.

Thanks!!! Quick question, the last few times I did anything with Odin, I used the menu option from holding the power button. Should I not do that for this update?

The modem page on XDA shows an EA28 to ED03 delta file. I don't see an ED01 to ED03.

You are correct sir. My mistake. I read it too quickly and just assumed since it was the last one it was going from ED01 to ED03. I would stick with ED03. Because of a small glitch I ran into during my Comm ROM flash I had to ODIN back to DL09 with the atlas 2.2 file to fix my partitions. I was previously on ED01 modem and now got ED03 modem and I'm getting the best 3G and cell reception and connectivity I've every gotten.
