[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

Ok. For some reason there seems to be a ton of confusion on how to get certain apps back if you don't like the themed ones in this rom.

All anyone needs to do is open up the ZIP file of a rom, (I recommend sc2.9.2 as it has everything people have been asking for) navigate to system/app in the zip, and extract the corresponding .apk for the app you want. Next, just copy the files you've selected to your sd card and with a root file explorer, move them to /system/app on your phone.

Here's a list of the ones people are asking for most:

Mms.apk - messaging
Vending.apk - market
Screencapture.apk - built in screen cap function (back + power)
MusicPlayer.apk - stock player that came with the phone (works with car dock)
DialerTabActivity.apk - stock phone dialer
LatinIME.apk - android keyboard
AxT9IME.apk - samsung keypad

If youre having trouble finding others, as sometimes the file name doesn't correspond directly with the app name, post back here. Ill try to keep up as best I can.

the problem is the SC29/SC292 files are not that simple. as sharky answered in one of my prev posts the apps are in a factory.rfs file that you copy into your system/apps folder. i just dont know how you get them out of there after that.

apparently astro file manager doesn't let you paste from the SD card to the system/app folder

Long press on the contacts icon, choose change shortcut, choose applications, choose phone, choose default icon. Click on phone icon, click back soft key. Long press on that same phone icon, change shortcut, applications, contacts, default icon, click icon, try back button. If that doesn't work, then hit menu soft key and go settings=>applications=>manage applications=>all=>launcher pro and clear data This worked for me when i was having the problem, Thanks to sharky for this a while back

I was having this problem too and this seems to have cleared it up.

no....

download Super Manager from the market... its free and simple to use. It will allow you to put an apk in the system files

Really? I found Root Explorer really easy to use and move stuff around the first time I tried it out this week. I don't think you can simply Zip an .apk and then flash it with CWM... I think there has to be some kind of instructions embedded in the zip file as well so CWM knows what to do with it. I could be wrong..but it seems logical...

Try moving instead of copying.. the only time it didn't work for me is when I accidentaly hit the back key too many times and it exited me out of the app. Then I had to start over. Also be sure you're set to read & write.. not r/o.

first question... what are you selecting once you open Super Manager? File Explorer or APK Manager?

Cursor on it, hold left click, drag and drop onto sd card, then use file manager such as root explorer or astro file manager to move it from the base of the sd card to the system app/folder.

so once you put the factoryfs.rfs file in the system/app folder then what?
