[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

He said it is not update.zip form but I tried through CWM anyway and it froze. He says it's an APK but I'm not seeing that anywhere.

I downloaded the file, double clicked on it and there was the APK. Don't know how you are unzipping it, but try just double clicking on the zip file.

Weird. The APK file flashes for a second and then it turns into a folder with the inner workings of the APK in it.

Your computer may be set to open files with a single click, try single click on the zip file and see if it opens up to the APK, or from the inner workings of the APK click on whatever you need to in order to go back one file folder.

"keep expanding if possible" was checked off. Thanks for the tip in the right direction.

Just loaded it, it's not overly themed and looks pretty damn sweet. I was just reading elsewhere though that someone made a themed swype and it's in .zip form but is not update.zip form if that makes sense. He says it's an APK but when I unzip there is just random files and folders, no APK. How would you suppose this theme would be applied?

Edit: here's the link xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM][4.27.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.2

I realize this was solved but let me add that my experience with it was that different file manager programs handled it differently. Super Manager free edition wouldn't do anything with it, ES File Explorer would see it but not unzip it. I downloaded Linda Manager and it worked perfectly. Sometimes it pays to have multiple apps that do supposedly the same thing. At least that how it's been for me.

I flashed the Evil Facination Think Free with no problems..the market version is "lite" the; .zip is the full version made for verizon..

[ROM][ED01][4/26/11] Evil Fascination v3.4.1 - xda-developers

This isn't found on AC, so here is the XDA link.. :)

Thanks! Can I just flash the zip files? I'm running ec01 com rom

EDIT: it says the zip files are in edify.....I have the CWM ALL on my phone, its the 2.5.x or something like that. Will it work?

I believe I read that CWM-All, which is 2.5.1.x will flash edify script, but CWM 3.0.2.7 will not flash Amend script. So you should be safe to flash the Edify file with 2.5.1.x

Thanks to all who developed this Community ROM, I really like it. I did just run across a rather interesting "bug". Using the Gingerbread keyboard, I sent a short text to my daughter last night. It contained the division symbol from the Gingerbread keyboard, when she got the message it was split just like what happens when you send a message longer than 160 characters but the message was well under 160 characters. Using either Handcent or GoSMS I noticed that when I put in the division symbol it subtracted about 90 characters off of the limit. So any text over about 70 characters that included the division symbol was counted as over the 160 limit. Probably hardly ever use the symbol but thought it was a rather interesting. Thanks for all of the work you guys do to make this Fascinate a great device!

Didn't care for crysis, restored my nandroid..now desk clock is un-installed and can't get the .apk to install via app manager. Astro/Super Manager won't let me move the .apk file to the system/app folder.. any ideas.. what am I missing about this..

Don't know about Astro/Super Manager, but in root explorer you have to be in read/write to move files around. In Root Explorer the white bar at the top is a toggle switch. Whatever is in that bar is what you will switch to if you click it. So in order to be in read/write, the white bar needs to say R/O. Then you have the ability to move or copy and paste.

Liking the rom, tried the method mentioned to flash the patches to add back touchwiz from the superclean rom thread - CWM errored out and would not apply them. Downloaded fresh copies and tried again still no dice. Has anyone managed to get this method to work and if not is there an alternate way to get some TW goodness on this bad boy again? Trying hard to avoid doing and nandroid restore, but I really prefer the TW interface and launcher. thanks again!

edit: here is what CWM spits out when I try:

E: failure at line 3:
copy_dir PACKAGE:system SYSTEM:
Installation aborted.

advice?

I recommend trying launcher pro you can get it from the market. So much better than touchwiz. In my opinion of course. Hut worth a try.

Thanks, but I have tried them all, ADW, Launcher Pro, Arc, Zeam, vanilla, even that new SPB mess (talk about too much chrome) etc.

I just really like the look and feel of TW - which is funny cuz I usually end up about as far away from stock as possible on all my past devices (winmo and android) -

Anyone got any other methods of getting TW going? thanks again

I may be wrong about if this will work or not, but I saw a link to a TW launcher in this thread: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...t-animations-combined-resource-4-29-11-a.html It's located in post #6. Said that it requires CWM 3.x as they are edify only. But it may possibly work.
