[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

What happens if I don't do a complete factory wipe before installing this? I just hate going through resetting up the entire phone again but perhaps that is the only way.

Some people have had luck with just clearing the caches some have not...its up to you. I was one of the lucky ones, I only cleared both caches 3 times and was good to go.

So I got Comm ROM 1.3 up and running today. It's pretty smooth so far but I am having some issues with the general settings under TSM parts. I can't seem to get haptic feedback to turn off, I can't get the icons to show up in the notificaiton bar, and even after installing No Lock, the lock screen still activates. I've wiped the cache/davlik two or three times. Am I missing something?

Edit: I also can't seem to connect to my laptop. When plugged in, I hear the sound that it's connected, but there's no usb notification and nothing comes up on the laptop screen.

Anyone else use their video cam much? Since my upgrade from CommRom 1.2 to 1.3 I will get "write failed" errors, normally with longer vids over a minute. Could someone else test this and let me know your outcome. Vid camera was fine with 1.2, recorded several vids on Saturday before upgrading last night.

My USB also seems to be flaky. If I reboot my PC and my phone and connect them all will work fine until I disconnect. Once disconnected I must reboot both for a connection to be successful again. Strange.

Just tried video with my Fascinate and it is working just fine. I don't use it much but it seems to work okay for me. On a side note I am a C Walter also, so is my daughter!

I would recommend doing a dalvik/cache wipe, but you shouldn't need to to do a full data wipe unless you want to.

Some have had luck without wiping data..if you hit snags or bumps, the dev does recommend a data wipe in the OP, and has mentioned on another forum, that data wipe/factory reset should be done in CWM AFTER flashing the Rom...like I said though you may just be fine without it....just don't want people to be under the pretense a data wipe is up to the user and doesn't matter.. It is developer recommended for this Rom.

I am running SC2.9.2. Never used voodoo and am admittedly voodoo ignorant and don't know what I should be scared about or comfortable with before I use it.

So when I reboot into recovery the top says "CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v2.5.1.x"
When I go down to voodoo at the bottom and select it there is "enable lagfix" and (default) is next to it. Does that mean its enabled or do I still have to enable it somewhere?
[edit] I see down below where it says lagfix is disabled

Then I can basically just put the ROM onto my SD card and then flash it via CWM?

I managed to get the clock to show up by changing the text color and rebooting, but all of the other problems are still there.

Snare, ComRom takes care of the conversion for you. Just flash the rom, it's that easy. After you flash com rom the boot will take a little longer and you should hear a female robot voice talking, that is the voodoo conversion taking place. After that your voodoo, so don't install any kernels or Roms that are non-voodoo, and you'll be good to go!

Thanks. So just to understand the "in theory" simplicity of this.

Put the Comrom file on my SD card
reboot into recovery
wipe cache and dalvic (I'm hoping to do this without a factory reset)
enable lagfix
flash comrom

and I'm done?

issues

what happened to the people that had the problems?

I was also lucky, just cleared caches (not data), installed straight over SC2.9.2v and cleared caches again. Didn't lose anything. The issues i had after were easy to fix with the help of the folks here. Looks to me cries for help like I've had get answered in a few minutes.

No Lock application isn't working at all for ED01. You can give up trying on that.

Make sure USB debugging is enabled under settings-applications-development before plugging in your usb cable...

Not sure about the haptic feedback...I don't use TSM parts..sorry. Just lockscreeen app.

Good luck!:)

Looks good, sans 'enable lagfix', com rom does it for you. You don't need to enable lagfix prior to flashing the rom in other words. The boot can take up to 15 minutes when your converting to voodoo, so don't panic, just let it do it's thing!

Good luck!

ps...You'll probably have issues with the status bar, just read the last few pages of this thread, you'll find how to fix them.

Thanks again. And how about the radio. I started reading at page 1 of the thread and am up to page 14. I think I have EB01. Do I need to somehow get EC01 on the phone?

Yes. I would download the EC01 radio and flash in ODIN prior to installing com rom. You can find it over on jaekar's thread I believe.

Ok, please tell me something. What was the complicated part about that that I was nervous about? It couldn't have been easier! :) Thanks for all your help! For anyone on the fence its super easy!

What is it that I'm supposed to be scared about voodoo for? i.e. the whole "if you're not comfortable with voodoo don't do it" thing?
