[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

Sorry super....Com Rom 2.0 = UKB 2.0

same thing.. he did a very good job, but a lot of writing to wade through. Follow those steps I gave you and you should be fine..

I'd say top to bottom, if you need all your data back...your looking at about 2 hours to get it done. (Thats for me, and I'm slow)

In addition, if you want to update your modem, there is a new easy method of getting to it. I recommend going to ED04..

Just flash the DL09 Modem via ODIN then download the DL09--ED04 .zip and flash in recovery at some point in the process.

I would do it after you got Com Rom installed.

You should be able to find all you need at Jaekar's one stop shopping Thread for Themes, ROMS, KERNELS.

Here is the link to the Modem update

I appreciate the kudos on my first attempt at a pseudo-guide! My "verbosity" has always been an issue I have struggled with (at least in the sense that it does not come off so well to others), but my hope was that in the sea of information listed the "right" info could be found for a wide variety of individuals.

That being said - I liked the cliffnotes. That would have been a nice way to start that onslaught of a post... Dang hindsight, always being 20/20...

Regardless, I hope people find it helpful!

I wanted to update everyone on the 3g troubles I was having with my gf's fascinate and comrom. I ended up calling verizon to swap phones back to her old blackberry and they did that and then swapped back. As soon as the fascinate booted up after activation there was no 3g signal whatsoever. I had though "Uh oh, now i've done it...the phone doesnt get ANY 3g now". The verizon employee then got tech support on the line and he took a look at the signal from her phone and in his words "cleaned it up". Not sure what that involves but thats what he told us he was doing. So after that we rebooted the phone and 3g was back and has been working ever since. Now I dont know if what he did is what fixed it or if the phone swap did. I wanted to reboot the phone one more time after we saw 3g wasnt working the first time but the lady got tech support on right away so I didnt have a chance to do that. So either the phone swap worked and its the second reboot that brought it back or what the verizon tech support rep did fixed it. Regardless we are both happy her 3g is working without issues once again.

[MODEM][ODIN][CWM]DL09, EA28, ED01, ED03, ED04 modems without ridiculous 100MB OTAs - xda-developers

I'm alittle confused....why would I flash all this AFTER I flash comrom? I have 2.0 now and its been mostly a stress free venture, the phone has crashed randomly at times on me and reported a few stopped processes like the calendar and other things. Not sure what 2.0 did over 1.3 but the battery life is awesome, but like I said the random crashes are a tad annoying. But can you explain to me why you would flash current 2.0 then flash DL09 then the rest? If I recall, I think ODIN DL09 wipes the phone clean back to stock? So if thats correct, going to com rom first would be wiped anyways?

If you just flash the DL09 radio itself you don't lose any data. Only if you flash the complete DL09 package will you lose anything.

DW--it's great to have you here on AC. And you did a fantastic, thorough write up.

Like you, I tend to be lengthy when I write out instructions or information as well ...see here

With that said, I've learned sometimes people just need the meat and potatoes..spelled out very plain. Numbering or bulleting steps seems to be the way to go.

Keep up the great work and support, and like I said great to have you here!

thanks for clarifying Jprice : )

I was referring to just the MODEM packages. They don't have any effect on anything but the radio.

Update from ED01-ED04

Hey guys just thought someone might find this info valuable.

Using the link from littlwing16 (Thanks by the way!) I just updated my Modem from ED01 to ED04.
It went without a hitch so I thought someone out there might want to know this. I am on ComRom 1.2 and was obviously on ED01 modem that I received from OTA update before loading the CommRom.
Also I am on CWM 3.3 and use GoLauncher EX.

I downlaoded the ED01-ED04 Package from the link above, checked MD5 on the file and then dropped it onto my SD card. Checked MD5 again and then shutdown the phone. Booted into Clockworkmod and Cleared Cache/Dalvik 3 times each just to be safe and then loaded the Zip. Booted the phone and let it scan everything, then Did *228 1 & 2. Everthing appears to be working fine. I can post again with info about battery life etc, but just thought there might be some others out there that didnt what to go though all the data backups/restores of updating the comrom, but wanted the new modem.
So far so good.

I can pretty much guarantee you the tech did an ESN swap, which is what has been working for everyone else who has been having 3g troubles lately.

OK Guys, I feel like such an idiot and I'm a technical guy.

The more I search on how to install Community Rom properly, the more I get completely lost. At this point, I need something "Idiot" proof.

All I want to do is a basic root to community rom and I'm just looking to get my phone stable. I see a million an one ways to do this and file downloads all over the place.

I'm on SuperClean 2.9.2, but Odin was kind of easy, and now.......my brain hurts.....

Does anyone have a quick & dirty write up?

Download your choice of the four Comm ROM 2.0 files and place it on the base of the sd card on your phone

You already have ODIN, so just flash this CWM file in the PDA section of ODIN:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36791/CWM3_Voodoo.tar.md5

Should only take 7 seconds to install. When it finishes, close ODIN, pull the USB cord from phone, put battery back in but don't power up phone. Hold volume up, volume down, and power buttons until you see samsung logo flash for two times. Release all three buttons as soon as you see samsung logo for second time. This will boot you into CWM. Follow the instructions from post #'s 4 and 5 of this thread on how to wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache, then install the Comm ROM 2.0 zip file through CWM:

Reboot

Almost there, but how do I find the actually post numbers? I can't seem to find post 4 & 5 or anything for that matter.

Sorry to keep bothering, this should be it, I see many Comm Rom's out there, any suggestions on which on I should use?

Never mind, I got it.

Thanks guys, I'll post back soon, with results.

Last night was a great learning experience. Rooted to Comm Rom 1.3

Do you guys do anything with the "Voltage Control"?

Guys, can you give me some "Kernal" recommendations? I think I'm something old from when I first started learning about rooting
