[ROM][5/23/12][4.0.4][AXI0M] CROSSBREED and PATIENT ZERO

Re: [ROM][3/18/12][4.0.4]AXI0M Crossbreed & PATIENT ZERO

He wrote the new script for V12 to do the wiping for you, but I'm not sure how he can expect to retain data in the process. Some users have reported that it did not restore some data. When I want something saved, I use Root Explorer and go in and get it beforehand, and I still wipe and format (except the SD Card) every time regardless of what he says the script does. It doesn't take long, and two wipes have to be better than one...

Re: [ROM][3/18/12][4.0.4]AXI0M Crossbreed & PATIENT ZERO

I have two questions about patient zero.

First, The instructions listed on the first post for patient zero do not match the instructions in the droidhive thread for installing patient zero. The instructions on the droidhive thread do not include the wiping because it is built into the rom install script.

Second, the droid hive thread says that with V12 Data will be saved. What does that mean? I thought it was mandatory to wipe everything and the rom took care of that.

Check the updated install quote. You can rely on his script. Problem is ensuring that it's 100% precise and accurate (meaning the wipes within the script), so until the kinks are worked out, the instructions on my OP will remain. I will add an explanation a bit later.

Second, it means if you're using the update--for existing users--it doesn't wipe data, just cache/dalvik.

With the existing user script he is being accomodating to those that like to install dirty against his recommendations or is he changing his recommendations. I know I could ask questions over on the droid hive thread, but I don't want to have another login on another site.

Re: [ROM][3/18/12][4.0.4]AXI0M Crossbreed & PATIENT ZERO

Forgive me as this may be seen as a dumb question. I have read here and also on Rootzwiki that when restoring apps you should not restore apps and data b/c it will cause FC issues etc. So does this mean that when flashing this ROM we have to manually restore all APPS and we will lose all our data such as settings or progress in games etc?

I have always used TiBu and ran a batch operation restore missing apps + all system data. Is there a better way to do it? This has always been the fastest way to get all my apps back the way I had them before I flashed the new rom. Is there a better way? Manually installing all my apps sucks ass and takes forever especially if I have to start from scratch and lose all my saved progress.

Thanks in advance

I've restored apps and apps data without a problem. System data can cause big problems especially when going from one rom to another.

Just as Nechasin said. TiBu is an acceptable way to restore apps and configuration data. Just don't backup and restore system data between ROMs. You might get away with it occasionally, but mostly not.

No problem. Plenty here have helped me.

I breezed along through each Crossbreed ROM, but have had no luck with this one. Some people are having no issues, and others aren't. So something is up. DT even reported at the Hive that he had problems flashing V13, and thinks its the recovery method used. But I've used both the standard CWM and CMWR Touch with the same results.

From what I understand, the existing user/"update" zip is for dirty installation, and the "new user" zip is for those who want to do 100% clean installs.

And for nightlies, the restoration of any data is a bit foolish IMHO because it goes against the idea/prospect of a nightly

Also, I find it slightly more than coincidental that these installation/flashing issues have come about after he started using those auto-wipe scripts.

IMHO, he should just go back to the rom building and just make sure to tell his users to do a full wipe to get the best results. That removes complication.

Also, stac, I went from V10 to V12 without issue--used the existing user zip as well. Nothing missing, no reboots, but then again, I've been watching Top Gear all morning/day.

Interesting. how is the newest build aside from the installation bugs?

Well, V13 is out, so I guess we'll see what happens. One user build this time. Although it's only showing as 26.8 MB, so I wonder if the ROM is even in there.

Never mind. I jumped the gun. It's in progress of uploading.

Presumably this will be a full wipe, no?

Other than installation issues (of which i have none), I can honestly say I have no idea what the difference is lol

Re: [ROM][3/18/12][4.0.4]AXI0M Crossbreed & PATIENT ZERO

It's about 50% up, but he hasn't posted release notes. I think I'll wait for instructions.

Re: [ROM][3/18/12][4.0.4]AXI0M Crossbreed & PATIENT ZERO

Yes. He just said go get it on Twitter as well.

This version will not "save" data, meaning it will do a full wipe.
